  • This study is designed to figure out the effects of major selection motivation on career efficacy and major satisfaction of college students majoring in culinary and foodservice management. To achieve this purpose, a survey was carried out to 209 college students. The findings showed that their major selection had a significant effect on their career efficacy and major satisfaction. But the mediating effect of their career efficacy as a mediator - which improves their major selection and major satisfaction - was partially adopted. Consequently, their internal and external participation motivation for their major selection is a facilitating mechanism to maximize their major satisfaction, and it is necessary to limit the use as a mediating variable of their career efficacy.

  • Objectives: This study analyzed the influence of the career plateau phenomenon and distributive justice among hospital nurses on their turnover intention and the moderating effect of proactivity on these correlations. Methods: Survey data from 459 out of 500 hospital nurses at 9 hospitals were collected and used for analysis. SPSS 24.0 was used for conducting regression, validity, and reliability analyses. Results: Career plateau was positively related to turnover intention, whereas distributive justice was negatively related to turnover intention. Proactivity strengthened the positive influence of career plateau on turnover intention. By contrast, proactivity alleviated the negative relation between distributive justice and turnover intention. Conclusions: This study empirically confirmed that career plateau and distributive justice are important antecedent factors of the turnover intention of hospital nurses. Proactivity played a key moderating role between these antecedent factors and turnover intention. Theoretical and practical implications of this study were also discussed.

  • Objectively, the purpose of this study aims to re-confirm and analyze the relationship between variables through direct relationships and mediation (i.e., career optimism (CO), organizational fairness (OF), organizational entrepreneurship commitment (OEC) on employee engagement). This study also addresses whether career optimism provides a strong-impact if it mediates other antecedent variables on employee engagement. Therefore, to test and prove this, we made observations on 200 samples comprising lecturers in Indonesia. The data collection method uses a survey both offline and online. Through the PLS-SEM approach, the statistical testing demonstration states that all hypotheses, either through direct relationship or mediation, are proven to have a positive and significant effect. Career optimism has also proven to be a substantial and positive contribution to testing employee engagement as a mediating variable. The results of seven hypothesis testing in our study confirm that the broaden-built theory and organizational theory are closely related. Therefore, this study positively contributes to human resource management's science to balance the psychological and organizational aspects. In this study, we also add that consistency and a positive attitude in a career trigger a person's career optimization in a better and more positive direction, especially for career-path and employee engagement.
