  • This study examined the aspects in elementary school students' career interest and career awareness by gender, age, and multi-cultural families/general families. The subjects were 341 elementary school students from multi-cultural families and general families. The results were as follows. First, there were significant differences in investigative, artistic, and social interests by gender. The children from multi-cultural families and general families showed no significant differences in career interest. Second, the children from general families had higher scores than those from multi-cultural families in self-awareness, occupational exploration, career attitude, and career awareness. And the girls had higher scores than boys in self-awareness, occupational exploration, and career awareness. Third, there were meaningful differences in career interest and career awareness by age. The younger children had higher scores in career interest and lower scores in career awareness. Fourth, the career interests had significant correlations with career awareness in both groups. And there were stronger correlations in general children. Fifth, the regression analyses showed that career interests had significant effects on career awareness in both groups, and there were higher effects in general children. The artistic interests in multi-cultural children and the social interest in general children had significant effects on career awareness. And the effect of multi-cultural families/general families was noticeable in occupational exploration, career attitude, and career awareness. The implication for multi-cultural career education and counseling practice are discussed based on the result of the present study.

  • The importance of the NCS(National Competitiveness Standards) is growing as the job market shrinks and more institutions require hiring based on NCS. Of the ten domains of NCS', the most relevant one with the performance of all tasks is basic capability group. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of college students' basic capability group(communication capability, mathematical capability) on their career preparation behavior. In this study, we set up a process model to comprehend the effect of college students' basic capability group on career preparation behavior based on social cognitive career theory. For research model testing, 561 questionnaires were used for empirical analysis through structural equations modeling. Empirical analysis showed that communication capability positively influenced college students' career preparation behaviors for employment. But, mathematical capability don't influenced college students' career preparation behaviors for employment. Next, career self-efficacy and career outcome expectation each positively influenced college students' career preparation behaviors for employment. Also, interest in the major positively influenced college students' career preparation behaviors for employment. The academic implications are as follows: Career self-efficacy and interest in the major were important factors in the communication capability. The process of communication capability affecting career preparation behavior and interest in the major was explained through social cognitive career theory and self-efficacy. The practical implications are as follows: Administrative assistance should be provided to improve the career self-efficacy of college students.

  • This study aims to investigate the effect of design thinking-based STEAM program for primary and secondary students. The design thinking-based STEAM program dealt with advanced scientific technology issues and it consisted of 8 topics. A questionnaire was developed to explore the change of Science concept awareness, Interest, Self-efficacy, Career consciousness of students through the program. The questionnaire consisted of following 4 areas, such as 'Science concept awareness', 'Interest', 'Career consciousness' and 'Self efficacy'. Pre-post test was conducted to 75 primary and secondary students. As a result of analyzing post-test compared to pre-test, 'Science concept awareness', 'Career consciousness' and 'Self efficacy' of students were improved. And the 'Interest' wasn't changed significantly. Through this research, it can be suggested that the design thinking-based STEAM program can be useful at school education to improve the Science concept awareness, Career consciousness and Self-efficacy of primary and secondary students. It is also proposed that further research of the various areas of interest and other affective variables will be needed.

Second of all, the study found out that both relationship satisfaction and general satisfaction are significantly connected with career decision and career certainty. Third of all, social awareness appeared to have a significant influence on career interest. Fourth of all, the study learned that in terms of career decision and career certainty, they are all significantly related to problem solving, information collection and plan development. As for career interest, the study noticed how significantly if affects both problem solving and information collection. Fifth of all, major satisfaction was observed to have mediating effects on problem solving and information collection through career decision. Sixth of all, via career certainty, major satisfaction has mediating effects on problem solving as well as information collection. Seventh of all, when it comes to relationship satisfaction, it has mediating effects on problem solving, information collection and plan development through career interest. Eighth of all, career decision helps general satisfaction have mediating effects on problem solving and information collection. Focusing on the research results above, the study discussed implications in relation to security science including advices for any follow-up researches.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate structural relationships among engineering self-efficacy, outcome expectation, interest, learning persistence, and career preparation behavior of engineering students. Participants (n=428) completed measures of engineering self-efficacy, outcome expectations, interests, learning persistence, and career preparation behavior. Results from structural equation modeling analysis were found to support the proposed model which included learning persistence and career preparation behavior, influence from engineering self-efficacy, outcome expectations, and interests. In addition, major persistence intention and career preparation behavior of engineering college students are influenced by the direct and indirect effects on engineering self-efficacy, interest, and outcome expectations. The implications of the findings on practice for Korean engineering college students are discussed.

  • Korea has recently invested much of its effort in fostering talents in scientific fields to establish a foundation for sustainable future growth. From this perspective, the ministry of education has come up with a special rule aimed at achieving the substantiality of engineering schools in universities. The ministry has been providing educational support by providing a tech-innovation center, industry-oriented education, and policies such as PRIME. Despite this support, most students in the natural science field end up being hired in fields not related to their majors. There has been a growing opinion regarding the need for career education for these students. In this research, based on a social cognitive career theory (SCCT) model that provides a comprehensive understanding of career development, this research would like to practically examine the relationship among college students' career preparation behaviors and influencing variables, such as grit, career decision-making self-efficacy, outcome expectation, and major interest. Data from 153 natural-science majors at A college in Korea were collected and analyzed using path analysis. The result was that the data strongly supported the model explaining the relationship between career preparation behaviors and influencing variables. Based on this result, we propose that career education that can promote grit, career decision-making self-efficacy, outcome expectation, and major interest is required to encourage students in the field of the natural sciences to pursue career preparation behaviors related to their majors.

  • The purpose of this study was to design career guidance program based on the research of career demand in order to help students choose and prepare careers suitable to students' interests and aptitude. The study surveyed 211 students in the $3^{rd}$ and $4^{th}$ years of C medical school. The survey was about start time of career guidance by medical schools, information collecting method for major selection, conformity degree among interest-aptitude-major after graduation, demanded information for career guidance, considerations in selecting majors, the reasons for not being able to select majors, etc. The result showed that students thought that start time of career guidance should be good for juniors, seniors, or all grades in order. The students got the information about career selection mostly from the direct contact with seniors. Students who had already decided the career, showed the high conformity degree among interest-aptitude-major after graduation Students who had already decided the majors, highly considered the aptitude and interest, while students who had not decided the majors, did not know their aptitude or did not have enough information about majors. This study gave the basic direction for the career guidance and provided necessary information for designing customized career guidance programs by reconstructing contents of the programs according to school conditions.

  • This study is conducted to examine the changes in class perception and career perception according to the teaching method for dental hygiene students in some areas of Gangwon-do. Using the same questionnaire, the first questionnaire was conducted after contact classes in December 2019, and the second questionnaire was conducted after non-contact classes in July 2020. Data were analyzed using SPSS Windows 24.0, and the results are as follows. There were differences in class perception and career perception according to grades, and career interest, career curiosity, and career confidence were different according to school life satisfaction and professional tooth cleaning Class satisfaction. In the case of non-contact classes, the proportion of career decisions through the internet increased, and career confidence also increased. These results can be provided as basic data necessary for the use of methods such as flip-learning classes in consideration of the convergence aspect in the practical subject class management and for the production of standardized practical videos for practical tests.
