  • The purpose of this study conducted to conduct a survey to understand the effect of security major college students' major selection motives on major satisfaction and career decisions. The questionnaire was written as "First, motivation for choice, second, major satisfaction, third, career decision". In this study, Chronbach's Alpha coefficient was calculated to analyze the reliability and importance of variables and to identify exploratory factors. And the Berimax method was performed. Both the AVE and CR values of the measured items were calculated to be above the reference value of 0.7, and thus, the convergent validity of each item was investigated as favorable. In the hypothesis test results, the standardization coefficient of 'selection motive ⇨ major satisfaction' was 0.653 and 'major satisfaction ⇨ career decision' was 0.403, so both research hypotheses were adopted. However, 'selection motive ⇨ career decision' was rejected with 0.392. In the future, universities and related professors seem to need more efforts to simultaneously increase the selection motive and major satisfaction in order to improve the career decisions of college security students.

Therefore this study is aimed to identify the relationship among perception of equity, decision-making styles and family life satisfaction in dual-career couples. As a result of analyzing the cause-effect relationship, it shows that many socioeconomic$.$psychological variables have direct indirect impact on family life satisfaction through medium factor, so this study proves the application of the cause-effect modes. However the influence of the perception of equity of wives were higher than husbands.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore the structure and characteristics of nursing college students' personality-based career attitudes. Method: A Q-methodology was used to identify factors in nursing students' personality-based career attitudes. A Q sample was collected from in-depth and objective interviews and literature reviews. A P sample consisted of 27 nursing students. Result: Results revealed three factors: Deliberateness-oriented, Positive-oriented, and Negative-oriented. The 'Deliberateness-oriented' factor was characterized by preference of logical and objective ways in evaluation and trying to seek deep relationships with only a small number of people. The 'Positive-oriented' factor showed creative, autonomous and sociable traits and put value on extensive interpersonal relations. The 'Negative-oriented' factor focused on possibility and enjoyed artistic actions. All 3 factors were negative in NGO or political activities. Conclusion: Based on this result, curriculum development for nursing students should give students a variety of experiences. These findings will be the basic data for finding appropriate positions within the work place for nursing students and help them select appropriate careers for their own personality types.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify and describe nurses' experience of a career ladder program (CLP) in a general hospital in Korea. Methods: The data were collected from 15 nurses who participated in the CLP. Each nurse completed individual in-depth interviews, for which the main interview question was "How do you describe your experience of CLP?" All interview data were transcribed and were analyzed using the grounded theory method. Results: The core category of the experience of CLP was identified as "challenging to rebirth as an expert". The participants used five action/interaction strategies such as "taking some time for introspection", "appreciating the essence of nursing", "making use of feedback positively", "throwing away doubts about their own capabilities", "exerting themselves with confidence". The consequence of the process of adjusting to CLP was "positioning a differentiated expert". Conclusion: The results of this study show that participants recognized CLP as a powerful resource which leads them to professional growth and development. Thus, CLP could be utilized as a clinical career-promoting program and ultimately as a program for providing high-quality nursing services.

  • Purpose: This study was designed to construct a structural equation model and identify the effects and relationships of self-efficacy, career plateau, job embeddedness, organizational commitment and intent to turnover for nurses. Also, an attempt was made to derive a hypothetical model from these factors and to verify whether the model has validity as a means of explaining and anticipating turnover intention of nurses. Methods: Data were collected from six randomly selected hospitals: a university hospital located in J city, Kyungnam and five general hospitals located in two cities (cities B and C), each having 400 to 720 beds. Also, 318 nurses were surveyed. Data were analyzed using SPSS 21.0 and AMOS 18.0 program. Results: Job embeddedness and organizational commitment were identified as the most likely paths to turn over intention. Also, organizational commitment had the highest direct effect on turnover intention followed by job embeddedness and then self-efficacy, but career plateau had an indirectly effected turnover intention. Conclusion: As turnover intention was found to be greatly affected by organizational commitment and job embeddedness, methods to improve organizational commitment and job embeddedness should be actively developed to reduce turnover intention among nurses.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate major selection motivation, major satisfaction, nursing professionalism, and career preparation behavior as well as identify influencing factors on the career preparation behavior of nursing students. The data were collected using questionnaires filled out by 208 nursing students in their junior and senior years at two universities in Jeollanam-do and Gyenggi-do, from November 1, 2018 to December 20, 2018. Data ware analyzed by using the SPSS Win 22.0 program (frequency, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation, and multiple regression analysis). The mean score of career preparation behavior was 2.74±0.70 (range:1-5). There was a significant positive correlation between major satisfaction, nursing professionalism, and career preparation behavior. For the multiple regression analysis, meaningful variables that significantly influenced career preparation behavior were nursing professionalism and general characteristics (grade, career preparation period). These factors explained 21.5% of the variance. Improvement of the above meaningful variables allowed better career preparation behavior. The results show that among students with weak meaningful variables, improvement of the above meaningful variables can improve job preparing behavior. In order to improve career preparation behavior, a career preparation program should be developed that reflects meaningful variables.
