'Instagrammable' is a new term which means a photo or a series of pictures are worth posting on Instagram. Since Instagram is an image-oriented social media platform, it is important to give users proper awareness through images in order to be an instagrammable post. In this study, we explored the proper delivery method of messages within instagrammable posts through the use of hashtags(#). Specifically, we paid attention to the use of 'Card News', which involves a series of images that form a short narrative. Hashtags play an important role that they often describe sharing intention of the post, and we found analyzing the use of hashtags in Card News posts is a good indicator of users' Instagram activities. Currently, there are more than 580k posts are found with the search keyword Card News, and the number is increasing. In this study, we collected and analyzed more than 50k hashtags on Instagram to explore how news stories are posted from both the general users and news media accounts. Furthermore, we conducted interviews with journalists to analyze how news media are making use of Instagram as a legitimate place to share news stories with impact.
In this study, the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) was applied to explore the process of using card news. Card news users are found to be active in searching and selecting appropriate news for themselves, information seeking style and news literacy were established as antecedent variables that can influence card news usage. A survey of 400 university students with experience of using card news was conducted. For statistical analysis, SEM was conducted. The analysis showed that information seeking style significantly affects perceived ease of use (PEU) and that news literacy influences neither PEU nor PU. PEU was found to have a significant effect on PU, and both PEU and PU had a significant effect on recommendation intention.

Methods: The materials were developed in seven steps. As a first step, the needs of pregnant and lactating women were assessed by reviewing scientific papers and existing education materials, and by interviewing a focus group. The second step was to construct main categories and the topics of information. In step 3, a draft of the contents in each topic was developed based on the scientific evidence. In step 4, a draft of card news was created by editors and designers by editing the text and embedding images in the card news. In step 5, the text, images and sequences were reviewed to improve readability by the members of the project team and nutrition experts. In step 6, parts of the text or images or the sequences of the card news were revised based on the reviews. In step 7, the card news were finalized and released online to the public. Results: A series of 26 card news for pregnant and lactating women were developed. The series covered five categories such as nutrition management, healthy food choices, food safety, favorites to avoid, nutrition management in special conditions for pregnant and lactating women. The satisfaction of 7 topics of the card news was evaluated by 140 pregnant women, and more than 70% of the women were satisfied with the materials. Conclusions: The card news format materials developed in this study are innovative nutrition education tools, and can be downloaded on the homepage of the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety. Algorithm journalism refers to the practices of automated news generation using algorithms that generate human sounding narratives. Algorithm journalism is known to have strengths in automating repetitive tasks through rapid and accurate analysis of data, and has been actively used in news domains such as sports and finance. In this paper, we propose an interactive card news system that generates personalized local election articles in 2018. The system consists of modules that collects and analyzes election data, generates texts and images, and allows users to specify their interests in the local elections. When a user selects interested regions, election types, candidate names, and political parties, the system generates card news according to their interest. In the study, we examined how personalized card news are evaluated in comparison with text and card news articles by human journalists, and derived implications on the potential use of algorithm in reporting political events.
The purpose of this study was to examine users' attitude toward likability, understanding level, reliability, satisfaction, and continuous usage intention depending on a difference in a type between card news and straight news. A questionnaire survey was conducted targeting 232 people. As a result of the research, compared to the straight news, the card news was easy for a user to understand, was strong even in a desire to use continuously. Second, a factor of users' attitude toward news was having influence upon the mutually positive(+) direction. Likability, understanding level and reliability had an effect on satisfaction. The satisfaction had an impact again on continuous usage intention. The intensity of this impact was varied, respectively, in card news and straight news. The influential level upon satisfaction in card news was strong in order of likability, understanding level and reliability. The influence in the straight news was strong in order of reliability, likability and understanding level. The outcome of this study will become empirical data in proceeding with seeking a method available for strengthening the function of offering information in news through increasing delivery and impact in information with producing news chosen by consumers.

This study was performed to develop educational materials in the form of card news that can be easily accessed on mobile phones or the Internet for milk intake education of the elderly based on the scientific evidence and their needs. The themes included in the card news were selected based on the literature and focus group interviews with 10 elderly individuals (78.10±6.66 years old). For the selected themes, information that elderly users most want to know was selected for the purpose of effective communication, while reflecting the eating habits, lifestyle, living environment, and nutrition and health status of the elderly in Korea. The draft of the card news was reviewed by the researcher, consulted by experts, and surveyed with 50 elderly individuals (70.44±5.16 years old). Based on the results of the review, consultations, and the survey, a final draft of the card news consisting of 12 pages was completed. The card news of the present study is expected to be an effective educational material considering the high level of satisfaction (higher than 4 on the 5-point scales) indicated by the survey respondents. Therefore this card news is expected to help increase milk intake through friendly milk education for the elderly.
This paper explores the characteristics of curated news content. With content analysis of 1020 news clips, the study found that news values immersed in card news differed from those of traditional news. Specifically, timeliness was not regarded as a key factor in newsworthiness. Rather, information and social impacts were highly emphasized. Considering news consumers depend on traditional news for timely news, curated news content was not a replacement for traditional news but a supplement. By refurbishing photos from previous news reports and googling the web for related information, curated news reiterates social meaning and provides relevant information. Furthermore, salience of human interest can be explained by entertaining characteristics of curated news. In story forms, the list technique has several important points to stress, and was more frequently used than inverted pyramids. Another key finding of this study is man-on-the street as the most quoted main sources in the curatorial context.

The card news draft was reviewed by researcher and consulting experts, and then questionnaire survey was conducted using Likert 5-point scales by 50 adults(42.7±10.2 years). Based on the results of the review, consultation and questionnaire survey, a final draft of the card news consisting of 11 cuts was completed. Card news proposal is expected to produce educational effects, since the respondents showed high satisfaction with the card news (higher than 4 on the 5-point scales) according to the questionnaire survey. Adults can easily access and use the card news developed in this study, and thus this card news is expected to increase milk consumption in adulthood and improve nutrition and health through friendly and systematic milk education.

This study aimed to develop educational material on the proper use of plant-based milk alternatives in the form of a card news, based on a focus group interview(FGI) with adult consumers. The FGI participants were individuals who had directly purchased cow's milk, soy milk, or other plant-based milk alternatives within the past three months and consumed them at least once a month. The study consisted of 17 adults between the ages of 19 and 63 years who met these criteria(9 males and 8 females). It was identified what participants were curious about, interested in, and needed information regarding the proper use of plant-based milk alternatives through FGI. A 10-page card news was developed that was highly usable, taking into account the FGI results and the latest literature. In conclusion, this study developed a card news aimed at promoting the proper use of plant-based milk alternatives, which can be easily disseminated online in line with the trends in food consumption and digitization. The results of this study suggest that the continuous development and distribution of educational materials that reflect food consumption trends and maximize their usability should be provided for dietary life education, such as school subjects or out-of-school programs.
