  • The existing fixed telematics facilities for car were restricting of efficiency, utilization, communication, possibility, so it become disconnected with reality in the domestic and foreign market within thy near future, like as the case of 'car-phone'. It is too difficult to make a various business model on the restrict basis. To solve these problems, We suggested Tablet PC system as a new mobile telematics platform. The telematics platform based on the Tablet PC realize the perfect office, because it shows an excellent portability, high power and extension, various input equipment, and environment of communication in the car. To realize this concreteness, it needs a proper marketing strategy for a new business model. For this purpose, We analyzed the structure of industry, selected a proper target market, and established the strategy of marketing. Additionally, We proposed new business models ; particularly Portal site, Car-Home network, Car Software Tuning, and T-Vaccine(Intelligent Car Inspection System). These are made possible by the only Tablet PC platform.

Design of Passive Vibration Attenuation System for a Vehicle HDD (차량용 HDD 의 수동형 진동저감 시스템 설계)

  • The shock performance of hard disk drives has been a serious issue for Car PC. Since the vibration and disturbances from a car gives an adverse effect on a HDD of Car PC, it is necessary to protect a HDD from them. In this study, passive vibration attenuation system for a vehicle HDD was developed. Acceleration from the ground through the tire and suspension system was measured to figure out the frequency translated to Car PC. Critical frequency to Car PC was determined by exciting it with a shaker and measuring a data transmitting speed from HDD. A newly designed vibration attenuation system was fabricated to protect HDD from the acceleration. It was shown that the developed system had an excellent vibration attenuation ability.

  • In recent, the researches on driver assistance systems have been actively performed with development of vehicle industry. AVM(Around View Monitoring) Systems, a part of these systems, have been researching and developing. Existing AVM systems have been developed in the forms of embedded systems or a SoC (System on Chip) to provide view around vehicle in real time. However, if Car PC is equipped with in vehicle, AVM can be developed using only software without additional cost. In this study, we implemented AVM system which provides location information by adding the informations such as latitude, longitude and speed to functions of "Car PC" based AVM system. If storing function is added to the AVM system implemented in this study which provides location information, the system with storing function can be used as AVM black box system.

  • 최근 자동차 산업의 활성화로 인해 교통사고가 문제화 되면서 사고를 미연에 방지할 수 있는 운전자 보조시스템 연구가 활발하게 이루어지고 있다. 그 중 AVM 시스템(Around-View Monitoring System)에 대한 연구 및 개발이 활발해 지고 있다. 기존 AVM 시스템은 차량 주변 상황을 실시간으로 제공하기 위해 임베디드 시스템 또는 SoC(System on Chip)의 형태로 개발되었다. 그러나 Car PC가 차량에 장착되면 AVM 시스템을 추가의 비용이 없이 소프트웨어만으로 시스템을 개발할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 Car PC 기반의 AVM 시스템 기능에 위치 정보 기능을 추가하여 위치정보를 제공하는 AVM 시스템을 구현하고자 한다.

Development of car driving trainer under PC environment (PC 기반형 자동차 운전 연습기 개발)

  • A car driving trainer for beginners developed under PC-based environment is described in this paper. For this trainer, a hardware is implemented as a practice car, and a trainer program is designed by computer image generation method to display 3-dimensional images on a CRT monitor. The trainer program consists of 3 main parts, that is, a speed estimate part, a wheel trace calculation part and a driving image generation part. Furthermore, a map editor is also installed for taking any test drive. After comparing this driving trainer to specify it was verified that the developed car driving trainer showed has good performances, such as lower cost, higher resolution and better image display speed.

Comparison between Subjective Scoring and Computer-Based Asymmetry Assessment in Facial Nerve Palsy

  • Background and Objectives: The aim of the present study was to assess the feasibility of a PC-based facial asymmetry assessment program (PC-FAAP) and to compare the results of PC-FAAP with subjective regional scoring by raters in acute unilateral peripheral facial nerve paralysis (FNP). Subjects and Methods: Participants were divided into 3 groups with 8 participants per group: group I, normal; group II, mild to moderate FNP; and group III, severe FNP. Using the PC-FAAP, the mouth asymmetry ratio (MAR), eyebrow asymmetry ratio (EAR), and complete eye closure asymmetry ratio (CAR) were calculated by comparing the movement of tracking points on both sides. The FNP grading scale (FGS) integrated each score, and the scores were weighted with a ratio of 5:3:2 (MAR:CAR:EAR). Subjective regional scoring was measured on a 0-100 scale score by three otologists. PC-FAAP and subjective scoring were compared in each group regarding the consistency of the results. Results: The mean scores of the MAR, EAR, CAR, and FGS of each group were significantly different. PC-FAAP showed significant differences between the three groups in terms of MAR, EAC, CAR, and FGS. PC-FAAP showed more consistent results than subjective assessment (p<0.001). The PC-FAAP was significantly more consistent in group I and group III (p<0.001 and p=0.002, respectively). FGS in group III was the only parameter that showed a more consistent result in PC-FAAP than the subjective scoring (p=0.008). Conclusions: An FNP grading system using a PC-based program may provide more consistent results, especially for severe forms.

  • 최근 네비게이션, GPS 등과 같은 운전 보조를 위한 장치 및 DVD 플레이어 등과 같은 운전자의 인포테인먼트 요구를 위한 장치 등 다양한 차량용 ECU들이 등장하고 있다. 차량용 네트워크를 통해 다양한 ECU들을 연결하여 상호 협력을 통해 ECU 고유 기능뿐만 아니라 추가의 기능을 수행할 수 있는 다양한 기술도 활발히 연구되고 있다. 차량용 네트워크를 통해 다양한 ECU들이 연결되어 상호 동작하기 위해서는 다양한 ECU 및 네트워크를 관리하는 서버 역할을 할 수 있는 고성능의 Car PC 의 장착이 필수적이다. 기존 AVM 시스템은 차량 주변 상황을 실시간으로 제공하기 위해 임베디드 시스템 또는 SOC의 형태로 개발되었다. 그러나, Car PC가 차량에 장착되면 AVM 시스템을 추가의 비용이 없는 소프트웨어로 구현할 수 있다. 이를 위해서는 차량 주변 영상을 실시간으로 제공할 수 있도록 카메라 보정 같은 영상 처리 모듈의 성능이 실시간 영상을 제공할 수 있는 성능을 갖추어야 한다. 본 논문에서는 차량의 전 후방 및 좌 우측에 장착된 4대의 카메라로부터 입력된 차량 주변 상황을 한눈에 보여주는 AVM 시스템을 위해 카메라 보정 및 통합 처리를 위한 모듈을 스레드(thread)를 이용하여 설계하고 구현한다. 또한, 제안하는 영상 처리 모듈의 성능과 스레드를 사용하지 않는 방식의 영상 처리 모듈의 성능을 비교 분석함으로써 제안하는 영상 처리 모듈을 이용하여 추가의 비용이 없는 소프트웨어 AVM 시스템의 구현 가능성을 검증한다.

  • A connected car's major factor is connectivity and it can be applied for new concept smart PC hardware and software design method of digital virtual assistance using voice recognition engine at server when infotainment functions are implemented because internet connecting LTE or 5G wireless mobile communication is always is possible. In this paper, a hardware architecture of smart auto-PC and software architecture based on GENIVI platform, and necessary functions are proposed. Also an effective analysis and design method of connected car infotainment system will be presented by showing user requirement analysis using object-oriented method, flowchart and screen design.

A Study on the Relationship between Impact Speed and Throw Distance of Pedestrian by the difference of the frontal shape of SUV vehicles (SUV 차량의 전면 구조 형상에 따른 충돌 속도와 보행자 전도 거리의 상관관계에 관한 연구)

  • The type of pedestrian accident can be characterized by vehicular frontal shape and the height of pedestrian. The trajectory of pedestrian after collision by passenger car is different from that by bus due to vehicular frontal shape. The frontal shape of SUV vehicles is dissimilar to passenger car and bus. So, the trajectory and throw distance of pedestrian by SUV vehicles is not the same of passenger car and bus. In this paper, a series of pedestrian kinetic simulation were conducted to inspect the difference in throw distance between SUV vehicle and passenger car and bus by PC-CRASH that is the program for kinetic analysis of articulated body. From the results, if the height of pedestrian is taller than 1.70m, there is no difference in throw distance between SUV vehicle and passenger car, but if the height of pedestrian is about 1.55m throw distance of SUV vehicle is about 4m longer than that of passenger car at each impact speed. The throw distance of pedestrian by Bus is shorter than that of passenger car and SUV at each impact speed.
