  • This study evaluated the microleakage of three restorative materials and three tricalcium silicate-based pulp capping agents. The restorative materials were composite resin (CR), resin-reinforced glass ionomer cement (RMGI), and traditional glass ionomer cement (GIC) and the pulp capping agents were TheraCal $LC^{(R)}$ (TLC), $Biodentine^{(R)}$ (BD), and $ProRoot^{(R)}$ white MTA (WMTA). Additionally, shear bond strengths between the pulp-capping agents and dentine were compared. Class V cavities were made in bovine incisors and classified into nine groups according to the type of pulp-capping agent and final restoration. After immersion in 0.5% fuchsin solution, each specimen was observed with a stereoscopic microscope to score microleakage level. The crowns of the bovine incisors were implanted into acrylic resin, cut horizontally, and divided into three groups. TLC, BD and WMTA blocks were applied on dentine, and the shear bond strengths were measured using a universal testing machine. The microleakage was lowest in TLC + GIC, TLC + RMGI, TLC + CR, and BD + GIC groups and highest in WMTA + RMGI and WMTA + CR groups. The shear bond strength of BD group was the highest and that of WMTA group was significantly lower than the others.

  • This paper repors on low temperature sealing process of PDP using binder and capping glass. The exhausting hole on rear glass of PDP was sealed by capping glass using screen-printed binder without exhausting glass tube. Based on the tubeless packaging process, out gassing problem could be reduced and vacuum conductance could be improved by eliminating exhaust tube.

  • The strength and durability of concrete are affected by various factors such as the quality of material, mixing ratio, construction, the method of cure, time elapsed. the condition of test and etc., it is very difficult to pre-estimate the strength of concrete with the use of experimental specimen. The domestic standard of specimen cylindrical type and its sizes are both l0cm$\times$20cm and 15cm$\times$30cm, which are prescribed in KS F2405, and the loading speed is prescribed to test with 2~3kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$ per second. The loading speed should have great effect on the compressive strength, but in reality in the construction site sometimes the loading speed is applied so dubiously that the value of the compressive strength can be unreliable. And the cross sectional area of a specimen should be level and smooth, otherwise it can be broken at a lower stress than the real strength through the eccentric or intensive working of the load. Capping should be carried out in order to measure the strength correctly. And used for capping are various materials such as capping compound, cement glue, plaster, mechanical grinding and etc. In this study, therefore, I have carried out an experiment on the relationship among the loading speed, the ratio of height to diameter of specimen, the method of capping, and the compressive strength, for the efficient quality control of concrete structures. So this study has been purposed to provide some basic data that can be used effectively at construction sites.

  • Polycrystaline thin film transistors are fabricated on the transparent glass substrate by a lamp-scan annealing. The line-shaped lamp scanning method, which is profitable for large area process, effectively radiated silicon film on glass substrate. Amorphous silion film absorbs the light which is emitted from halogen-lamp and it transformed into crystalline silicon by metal-induced lateral crystallization. In order to enhance the annealing effect, capping layer was deposited on the whole substrate. When the scan speed was 1-2mm/sec, lateral crystallization of amorphous silicon under capping layer was 18~27${\mu}m/scan$. The thin film transistor fabricated by this method shows high electron mobility over 130$cm^2/V{\cdot}sec$

  • A new chromatographic stationary phase has been prepared by cross polymerization between allylsilica and perallyloxycucurbit[6]uril and characterized by elemental analysis and FT-IR spectroscopy. The double endcapping has been proven to improve the separation efficiency of the cucurbituril-based stationary phase material. The first end-capping was carried out when allylsilica was made. The second end-capping was done as the final step of the whole process, and the use of a mixture of hexamethyldisilazane (HMDS) and trimethylchlorosilane (TMCS) as an end-capping reagent was found better than the use of only HMDS or TMCS. Our stationary phase has shown generally good results in separation of nonpolar and polar analytes. This phase showed even better separation performance than the commercial C18 phase for the case where hostguest chemistry was properly incorporated in solute retention.

  • We investigated the wafer-level MEMS capping process for which cavity formation in Si wafer was not required. Ni caps were formed by electrodeposition on 4" Si wafer and Ni rims of the Ni caps were bonded to the Cu rims of bottom Si wafer by using epoxy. Then, top Si wafer was debonded from the Ni cap structures by using SnBi layer of low melting temperature. As-evaporated SnBi layer was composed of double layers of Bi and Sn due to the large difference in vapor pressures of Bi and Sn. With keeping the as-evaporated SnBi layer at $150^{\circ}C$ for more than 15 sec, SnBi alloy composed of eutectic phase and Bi-rich $\beta$ phase was formed by interdiffusion of Sn and Bi. Debonding between top Si wafer and Ni cap structures was accomplished by melting of the SnBi layer at $150^{\circ}C$.

  • Nanoparticles play an important role as a catalyst in many chemical syntheses. Colloidal nanoparticles were usually synthesized with reducing, capping, and shape directing agents which induce surface poisoning of catalysts. A new green synthesis for silver nanoparticles was developed by utilizing less additives which could be a hazardous waste. A crystallization technique was employed to reduce the amount of reducing and capping agents during synthesis resulting in less surface poisoning of the nanoparticle. The synthesized Ag nanoparticles using monosaccharides and disaccharides as reducing agents could be used as a catalyst for the redox reaction of resazurin and the mechanism of the reaction using Ag nanoparticles was studied.

  • The understanding of the mechanical properties of amyloid fibers, which induce various neurodegenerative diseases, is directly related to the amyloid growth mechanism. Diverse studies have been performed on amyloid fibers from the viewpoint of disease epidemiology. Recently, attempts have been made to use amyloid fibers as new materials because of their notable mechanical properties and self-aggregation abilities. In this study, the mechanical properties of transthyretin (TTR105-115), which induces cardiovascular disease, were evaluated using a molecular dynamics (MD) simulation. In particular, the effect of the end-terminal capping on the structural stability of TTR105-115 was evaluated. The mechanical behavior and properties of TTR105-115 were measured by steered molecular dynamics (SMD). We clarified the factors affecting the mechanical properties of these materials and suggested the possibility of utilizing them as nature inspired materials.

  • This study aimed to compare color matching between single-shade composite resin-restored teeth with various pulp capping materials and the dentin surrounding the restoration through instrumental analysis and visual evaluation of the color difference. Fifty maxillary right central incisor acrylic resin teeth were prepared with standardized Class III cavities on the proximal surfaces. These teeth were divided into five groups: restored with single-shade composite resin only; Ultra-BlendTM plus followed by single-shade composite resin; TheraCal PTTM followed by single-shade composite resin; Endocem® MTA premixed followed by single-shade composite resin; and Well-root PTTM followed by single-shade composite resin. The color difference (ΔEab*) between the restored area and the center of the resin teeth was measured using a spectrophotometer. No significant color difference was observed in groups restored with only single-shade composite resin, Ultra-BlendTM plus, and TheraCal PTTM. The visual evaluation revealed that Ultra-BlendTM plus exhibited the best color matching score, whereas the Endocem® MTA premixed and Well-root PTTM groups showed significantly lower color matching scores than the single-shade composite resin-only group. When opting for single-shade composite resin usage for anterior tooth restorations with the aim of reducing chair time, pulp capping materials Ultra-BlendTM plus and TheraCal PTTM provide esthetically pleasing results.
