소금 고결화에 따른 강성 특성 (Stiffness Characteristics according to Salt Cementation)

  • Soils containing vanishing materials lead changes in the microstructure of particulate media due to water inflow. Thus, dissolution renders some local unstability. As the moisture contents decease, the component of the vanished materials may affects on the cementation of paniculate materials. This cementation phenomenon has a huge influence on the stiffness, strength and stability under lower stress level. The goal of this study is to introduce the cementation effects on a compressional wave velocity, a shear wave velocity, and the resonant frequency of shear waves. The glass bead and salt water with different mole contents are used. Test results show that the changes of shear and compressional wave velocities consist of three stages. In the first region, compressional wave velocities increase and shear wave velocities decrease with a decreases in reducing water contents from 100% to 90~95%. In the second region, shear and compressional wave velocities become stable at 90~95% to 10% of the water contents. In the third region, shear and compressional wave velocities increases dramatically with a decrease in the water content due to the capillary force and cementation of salt. Furthermore, the resonant frequency of the shear waves shows similar phenomenon. Specimens prepared by glass beads and salt water are proved to be able to provide a meaningful insight in under structural behaviors of the cementation.

  • In this paper we study steady capillary-gravity waves in a two-layer fluid bounded above by a free surface and below by a horizontal rigid boundary with a small obstruction, Two critical speeds for the waves are obtained. Near the smaller critical speed, the derivation of the usual forced KdV equation (FKdV) fails when the coefficient of the nonlinear term in the FKdV vanishes. To overcome this difficulty, a new equation called a forced extended KdV equation (FEKdV) governing interfacial wave forms is obtained by a refined asymptotic method. Various solutions and numerical results of this equation are presented.

  • The new method of x-ray photon correlation spectroscopy (XPCS) [1] is developed recently for probing the dynamics of surface height fluctuations as a function of lateral length scale. Measurements were performed on supported polystyrene (PS) films of thicknesses varying from 84 to 333 nm at temperatures above the PS glass transition temperature. Within a range of wave vectors spanning $10^{-3}$ to $10^{-2}$ $nm^{-1}$, good agreement is found between the measured surface dynamics and the theory of overdamped thermal capillary waves on thin films. Quantitatively, the data can be accounted for using the viscosity of bulk PS. (omitted)

  • A review is made of transient phenomena ralation to flow in the vadose zone. Reviewed topics include rapid water table response to rainfall, pulsating flow due to pressure perturbations in the vasoes zone, and the wave-like propagation of increased soil moisture caused by intermittent rainfall. As a basis of interpreting these phenomena, zoning of the vadose zone into a residual water zone, an unsaturated capillaty zone, and a saturated capillary zone are proposed. Possible implications with respect to hydrological processes relating to these phenomena are discussed.

자율신경계에 작용하는 약물이 위장 전기도에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Acetylcholine on Electrical Activity of Cat Stomach)

  • In order to investigate the effect of cholinergic substance on the electrical and the mechanical activities of the stomach muscle, 10 isolated cat stomachs were studied. At various sites of a stomach muscle preparation, the electrical activity was monopolarly recorded by using capillary electrodes containing chlorided silver wires, and the isometric contractile activity was recorded simultaneously at the terminal portion of the antrum in Krebs solution$(36^{\circ}C)$ which was aerated with a gas mixture consisting of 95% $O_2$ and 5% $CO_2$. The recording of these activities were performed before (control period) and after acetylcholine$(10^{-5}M)$ and atropine $(10^{-6}M)$ administrations serially. Following results were obtained: 1) The mean frequency of the slow wave was $4.36{\pm}0.22\;cycles/min$ at all the various sites of the cat stomach. The slow wave was propagated caudad in sequence and its velosity of propagation increased as the slow wave approached the pylorus in normal Krebs solution. 2) After acetylcholine administration, the frequency of the slow wave increased transiently and the increase of slow wave frequency was followed by the isometric contraction of antral muscle in association with the second potential which succeeded the slow wave. 3) By atropine administration, the stimulatory effect of acetylcholine on the antral muscle contraction was abolished completely, and the frequency of the slow wave decreased significantly compared with that of the control period, which tendency was more prominent in the antrum. The above results suggest that the transient increase in the frequency of gastric slow wave by acetylcholine may have some influence upon the contraction mechanism of the cat antral muscle.

Review of Entrainment and Interfacial Stability in Thermosyphons and Capillary-Driven Heat Pipes

  • Entrainment in thermosyphons and heat pipes was characterized in view of the interfacial stability associated with the critical Weber number and the entrainment limit at the onset of liquid entrainment from the liquid or wicked interface. Both literature review and theoretical analysis on the entrainment models were peformed in order to evaluate accuracy of the predicted value. For this purpose, the models were categorized in two groups according to their entrainment mechanism and interfacial configurations, i.e., the wave-induced entrainment and the shear-induced entrainment, respectively. Thus, the twelve models(five models for the wave-induced entrainment and seven for the shear induced entrainment) were examined to obtain individual trends and their discrepancies from the general tendency of the overall models. As a result, the critical Weber numbers and entrainment limits were calculated and represented as a function of vapor temperature for the chosen characteristic dimensions of the interface.

정지된 2차원 액체 필름 끝단의 비점성 수축특성에 관한 수치연구 (Numerical Investigation on Two-Dimensional Inviscid Edge Receeding of a Stationary Fluid Sheet)

  • 경계를 가지는 비점성 2유체 유동을 해석할 수 있는 수치해법을 개발하고 이를 이용하여 초기에 정지되어 있는 액체판의 끝단에서 일어나는 수축현상을 분석하였다. 경계면은 보오텍스 쉬트로 모델하였고 유동장은 와도격자법과 경계면추적법을 적용하여 계산하였다. 액체판의 끝단은 표면장력에 의해 수축되고 뭉툭한 형상을 취하게 되고, 이러한 끝단은 잘룩한 형상의 통로에 의하여 액체판에 연결되어 안쪽으로 끌려들게 된다. 이러한 현상을 비점성 조건에서 운동에너지 변화를 포함한 무차원 수의 함수로 분석하였다. 끝단의 수축속도는 로 파악되었고 표면장력파의 전파특성이 엄밀하게 조사되어야 함을 밝혔다.

  • 심혈관계 질환의 발병 위험요인 분석이 가능한 맥진기는 한방 의료기기에서 대표적인 연구 분야 가운데 하나이다. 그러나 기존의 대부분의 센서 기반의 맥진기는 측정시의 맥박 박동처와 센서부의 접촉상태에 따른 편위, 검출된 파형의 부정확성 및 파형분석의 어려움 등에 있어서 문제점이 발생한다. 따라서 본 논문에는 특성 센서를 사용하지 않고 단지 맥동에 의해서 유발되는 모세관 시험액의 상태 변화를 촬영한 맥동영상을 분석하여 환자의 맥파의 측정이 가능한 맥진기를 제안한다. 제안한 방법에서는 맥동영상 분석을 위한 시약영역 추출, 이진화, 수정된 열림연산, 변위측정 등의 영상처리 방법들이 적용된다. 제안한 맥진기의 성능 평가를 위해서는 추출된 압맥파로부터 맥파분석에 필수적인 5가지 주요 특징점에 대한 추출률을 측정한 결과 성공적인 결과를 보였다.

적출한 고양이 위(胃) 근절편에서 서파의 전파 및 발생빈도에 미치는 Dopamine의 영향 (Effect of Dopamine on Propagation and Frequency of Slow Wave in Cat Isolated Stomach Muscle)

  • 위(胃) 전기활동(서파)의 전파(傳播) 및 발생빈도에 미치는 dopamine의 영향을 주명하기 위하여 145마리의 고양이를 사용하며 다음의 실험을 실시하였다. 위의 복측부분을 적출하여 종주근의 주행 방향으로 대만쪽에서 길이 5cm, 폭 1.2cm인 근절편을 만들어, 95% $O_2$와 5% $CO_2$가 계속 공급되는 Krebs-Ringer용액 (PH 7.4, 온도 $36{\pm}0.5^{\circ}C$)내에 두고 가느다란 은선이 들어있는 모세관 전극 (Ag-AgCl)을 사음하여 단극성으로 서파를 기록하였다. dopamine의 첨가후 위서파의 전파방향은 첨가한 농도에 비례하여 전환이 많아졌으나, dopamine의 영향은 domperidone의 전처치로 유의하게 억제되었다. dopamine은 또한 농도가 증가함에 따라 불규칙한 위서파의 발생만도를 증가시켰으며 이 현상은 domperidone 및 Phentolamine에 의하여 억제되었으나 Propranolol, hexamethonium 및 tetrodotoxin에 의하여는 억제되지 않았다. 그러므로 dopamine은 고양이 위에서 dopamine receptor와 일부 ${\alpha}-adrenergic\;receptor$에 작용하며 이상적(異常的)서파를 발생시킨다고 사료된다.
