Identification of a Prophage-encoded Abortive Infection System in Levilactobacillus brevis

  • Abortive infection systems (Abi) are phage resistance systems that can be prophage-encoded. Here, two genes encoding an Abi system were identified on a prophage sequence contained by the chromosome of the Levilactobacillus brevis strain UCCLBBS124. This Abi system is similar to the two-component AbiL system encoded by Lactococcus lactis biovar. diacetylactis LD10-1. The UCCLBBS124 prophage-derived Abi system (designated here as AbiL124) was shown to exhibit specific activity against phages infecting L. brevis and L. lactis strains. Expression of the AbiL124 system was shown to cause reduction in the efficiency of plaquing and cell lysis delay for phages of both species.

  • The isolative determination of 4-Morpholine carboximidoylguanidine Hydrochloride in the ophthalmic solutions was examined by means of colorimetric method using oxidized nitroprusside and sodium hypobromite. According to the results, the following could be summerzied. 1) The wave length of maximun absorption in $650\;m{\mu}$. 2) Beer's Lew is obeyed for $20{\sim}80\;mcg/ml$ in colored solutions. 3) Absorptions of colored solutions must be measured 5 minutes after the addition of oxidized and 5 minutes after the completion of sodium hypobromite. 4) 4-Morpholine carboximidoylguanidine hydrochloride can be determined within standard deviation 2.0%.

釜山地方의 雲量에 따른 日射量의 變化 (Variation of the Insolation by Cloud Cover over Pusan in Korea)

  • In order to examine the effect on the insolation of cloud cover, we analyzed the data of the insolation, cloud cover and surface air pressure in Pusan during the period of 1991. 10 - 1993.1. At first, we investigate the atmospheric transmissivity A(t) using the Beer's law at clear skies. The atmospheric transmissivity is characterized by cold season high and warn season low. From this atmospheric transmissivity, the empirical formula that shows the variation of the insolation due to the cloud cover is obtained. The result formula is I : l0 A(tn)·( 0.7-0.05×m ). 1 is the insolation that reaches the surface when cloud cover is m and to is solar constant. Although the result is some rough it seems meaningful that the estimation of insolation can be made only from the routine data.

  • A Bi-2223 tape has beer developed for power applications such as a fault current limiter, a power cable and a superconducting magnetic energy storage system. In such applications, the Bi-2223 tape carries time varying transport current and in addition experiences time varying external magnetic field. It is well known that the external magnetic field not only causes magnetization loss in the Bi-2223 tape, but also drastically increases transport loss due to a so-called "dynamic resistance". We developed an evaluation setup, which can measure transport loss in external at magnetic fields. Using this equipment, we measured the dynamic resistances for various amplitudes and frequencies of an external ac magnetic field perpendicular to the face in the tape. Simultaneously we investigated the effect of an external ac field on transport loss with different experimental conditions. This paper describes test results and discussions on correlation between the dynamic resistance and the transport loss for the Bi-2223 tape.

산업폐기물의 잔디용 유기질 비료화에 관한 연구 (Utilization of Industrial Waste to Organic Fertilizer for Lawn)

  • The sludge, a waste of brewery industries, was examined for potentials as a natural organic fertilizer (or soil conditioner) for lawn. Trial products were measured for changes of physical, chemical properties in laboratory and seed germination and seedling growth in green house were also tested. The results are as the following:1The sludge from distilled liquor brewery contained high quantity of organic matter which had proper physical and chemical properties for lawn fertilizer (natural organic fertilizer, soil conditioner, top-dressing mix) . It showed good characteristics in handling and capabilities to be developed as commercial products for golf courses. 2.Sludge from beer company needs proper treatment to improve physical properties for futher degradiation. It is because aggregation of the sludge particles prevented microbial activities and changing to soluble form. 3.Green carbon can be used as carbon source for organic fertilizer production using brewery sludge, but it should not contain wood extract which inhibit seed germination and seedling growth.

쌀맥주 가공에 적합한 품종선정을 위한 품질특성 평가 (Quality Characteristics of Rice Cultivars Suitable for Rice Beer)

  • 본 연구에서는 쌀맥주 가공에 적합한 쌀 품종을 선정하기 위해 연질미 품종인 한가루, 설갱과 초다수성 품종인 다산1호 및 안다의 품질특성을 살펴보고 이를 이용하여 쌀맥주를 제조한 후 가공특성을 살펴보았다. 원료 쌀의 수분함량은 연질미인 한가루 및 설갱이 각각 14.48 및 14.62%로 다산1호 및 안다보다 높게 나타났다. 단백질 함량은 다산1호 및 안다가 각각 8.11 및 8.12%로 다른 품종보다 높은 경향을 보였다. 아밀로오스 함량은 한가루 품종이 17.71%로 다른 품종보다 낮게 나타났으며, 환원당 함량의 경우 한가루 및 설갱이 다산1호 및 안다보다 높은 경향을 보였다. 경도 분석 결과 연질미인 한가루 및 설갱이 다산1호 및 안다보다 낮게 측정되었다. 쌀 품종별 맥주 제조과정 시 다산1호 및 안다의 경우 한가루 및 설갱보다 잦은 응집현상이 발생되어 연질미가 맥주 가공에 더 용이한 것으로 판단하였다. 쌀 품종별로 제조한 맥주의 알코올 함량, pH 및 색도 측정 결과 품종에 따른 유의적인 차이는 관찰되지 않았으나, 쓴맛을 측정한 결과 한가루 및 설갱으로 제조한 맥주가 다산1호 및 안다로 제조한 맥주보다 쓴맛 지수가 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 이상의 결과를 종합하여 볼 때 쌀 맥주를 제조할 경우, 일반미 보다는 연질미인 한가루 및 설갱이 적합할 것으로 판단된다.

프로 스포츠 및 일반제품/서비스에 대한 고객충성도 연구 (A Study of Customer Royalty to Pro-sports and General Products/Service)

  • This paper is mainly interested in customer's(fan's) royalty to professional sports in sports industry. The royalty is studied with the royalty to several products and a service, so that we can obtain the comparison between both the former and the latter royalty. Interested professional sports, products and service are baseball, basketball, soccer, beer, cu, cola/cider, etc, and we will call each of them 'item'. The seven related hypotheses are considered. In hypotheses the dependent variable is royalty to nine items, and the independent variables are rune items, and customer's sex and major. For testing hypotheses, a questionaire is used, and reliability is checked with Cronbach's Alpha and correlation coefficients. For some items the royalty is significantly strong. Rather, even if some item has bad quality, it is found that customers can be royal to that item. We can identify some of those items through the results of this study. The strong significant results will be useful for the customer management. Additional studies are required for nonsignificant results which seems to be useful, and they are noted in the final part of the paper.

Rare Mating에 의한 양초효모에서의 glucoamylase 발현 균주 HCS 선별 및 특성 (Characterization of Brewing Yeast Expressing Glucoamylase Selected by Rare Mating.)

  • S. cerevisiae HBC52와 S, diataticus K114 의 rare mating 에 의해 개발된 HCS 균주들은 크기가 약 $13\mu\textrm{m}$ karyotype 분석결과 K114 균주에만 있는 약 1150kb 분자량을 가지는 염색체 band를 유지하였으며 전분을 분해하여 halo 를 형성하였다. Glucoamylase 활성은 약 2.7~3.4 unti/ml 를 가진 균주임이 밝혀졌으며 당 발효실험과 응집성 실험을 수행한 결과 HBC52 균주와 유사한 당 발효특성을 보이고 응집성 특성도 약응집성의 floculation type으로 비슷하였다. 그리고 HCS 균주의 포자형성과 피막형성 유무 실험에서는 양조효모인 HBC52 균주와 같이 포자가 형성되지 않았으며, 피막도 형성되지않았다. 균주들의 최종당도 실험은 HBC52균주가 약 68%의 발효수준을 나타냈고, HCS 균주들은 이 보다 높은 76~78%의 수준을 보였따. 즉 HBC52 균주가 최종당도($ 2.00^{\circ}$P)를 보인 반면 HCS 균주들은 ($0.7~0.93^{\circ}$P)를 보이는 결괄르 나타내어 맥주양조에서 low carbohydrate beer를 생산할 수있음이 확인되었다.

  • 중국에서의 빅데이터 개발 역사는 비교적 길지 않아 지금까지 10여년 정도에 불과하다. 또한 실생활에서의 빅데이터의 응용수준도 높지 않지만, 공급망 분야에서는 일부 성과가 이루어져 왔다. 다양한 유형의 데이터가 공급망의 실제 운용 과정에서 수집되었다. 그러한 데이터들이 효율적으로 분류되고 활용될 수 있다면, 공급망 운용과정에서의 채찍효과가 역시 효율적으로 향상될 수 있을 것이다. 따라서 본 연구의 목적은 중국맥주 산업 공급망에서의 협업재고관리 모델의 개발과 동시에 빅데이터를 활용하는 응용 프레임워크의 개발이다.

비배토 현장타설 콘크리트 말뚝의 지지력 산정에 관한 연구 (Bearing capacity Calculation of Displacement in-situ Concrete Pile)

  • Europe and US which have more restrictive regulations than Korea about the noise and vibration during construction are using Auger-cast Pile to reduce the problem relating with noise and vibration. However Auger-cast Pile has problems like difficult quality control and low bearing capacity. In Europe, Displacement in-situ concrete Pile has been used to sove that problems since 1990s, and Korea has performed the test construction in 1997 and it has been used as the real structural foundation since 1998. Test and real construction results verified that the allowable capacity of the pile(diameter = 410mm) is between 70 and 100ton. Though De Beer & Van Imps design method utilizing CPT result is used to calculate the bearing capacity of the Displacement in-situ Pile, Korea is dependant upon the SPT as the sounding test, so design method utilizing SPT result is necessary to promote the application of the pile. To find out reasonable design method using SPT result, rearing capacity of the pile constructed in sand and clay in Korea was calculated using Meyerhof, SPT-CPT translation method, Nordlund, Douglas and DM-7 method, and the calculation results were compared to the load test result. Analysis result shows that SPT-CPT translation method is more reliable than others and economical design can be possible because it considers efficiently the friction capacity of Displacement in-situ Pile.
