In this paper, a 32-variable pulse position modulation (32-VPPM) scheme is proposed to support a red-green-blue light-emitting-diode (RGB-LED)-based optical camera communication (OCC) system. Our proposed modulation scheme is designed to enhance the OCC data transmission rate, which is targeted for the wearable biomedical data monitoring system. The OCC technology has been utilized as an alternative solution to the radio frequency (RF) wireless system for long-term self-healthcare monitoring. Different biomedical signals, such as electrocardiograms, photoplethysmograms, and respiration signals are being monitored and transmitted wirelessly from the wearable biomedical device to the smartphone receiver. A common 30 frames per second (fps) smartphone camera with a CMOS image sensor is used to record a transmitted optical signal. Moreover, the overall proposed system architecture, modulation scheme, and data demodulation are discussed in this paper. The experimental result shows that the proposed system is able to achieve > 9 kbps using only a common smartphone camera receiver.

Gaze detection is to locate the position on a monitor screen where a user is looking by computer vision. Previous gaze detection system uses a wide view camera, which can capture the whole face of user. However, the image resolution is too low with such a camera and the fine movements of user's eye cannot be exactly detected. So, we implement the gaze detection system with a wide view camera and a narrow view camera. In order to detect the position of user's eye changed by facial movements, the narrow view camera has the functionalities of auto focusing and auto pan/tilt based on the detected 3D facial feature positions. As experimental results, we can obtain the facial and eye gaze position on a monitor and the gaze position accuracy between the computed positions and the real ones is about 3.1 cm of RMS error in case of Permitting facial movements and 3.57 cm in case of permitting facial and eye movement. The processing time is so short as to be implemented in real-time system(below 30 msec in Pentium -IV 1.8 GHz)
The handling ability of containers at the terminal strongly depends on the performance of the cargo handling system such as RTGC(Rubber Tired Gantry Crane). This paper introduces a new guide line position measurement method using a camera for the RTGC which plays a important role in the harbor area. Because the line tracking is the basic technique for control system design of RTGC, it is necessary to develop a useful and reliable measurement system. If the displacement and angle of the RTGC relative to a guide line as trajectory to follow is obtained, the position of RTGC is calculated. Therefore, in this paper, a camera-based measurement system is introduced. The proposed measurement system is robust against light fluctuation and cracks of the guideline. This system consists of a camera and a PC which are installed at the lower side of the RTGC. Two edges of the guide line are detected from an input image taken by the camera, and these positions are determined in a Hough parameter space by using the Hough transformation method. From the experimental results, high accurate standard deviations were found as 0.98 pixel of the displacement and 0.24 degree of the angle, including robustness against lighting fluctuation and cracks of the guide line also.

In this paper, we propose a kinematic approach to estimating the real-time moving object. A new scheme for a mobile robot to track and capture a moving object using images of a camera is proposed. The moving object is assumed to be a point-object and projected onto an image plane to form a geometrical constraint equation that provides position data of the object based on the kinematics of the active camera. Uncertainties in the position estimation caused by the point-object assumption are compensated using the Kalman filter. To generate the shortest time path to capture the moving object, the linear and angular velocities are estimated and utilized. The experimental results of tracking and capturing of the target object with the mobile robot are presented.
In this parer, a method of measuring the size of defects on the wall and restructing the defect image of 3-dimension is developed based on the tracking algorithm of a camera position which uses the inclination angle of line slit beam for overcoming the difficulty of the corresponding problem identifying the image point in the both image. In the experiments, an algorithm for estimating the horizontal angle of CCD camera is presented and validated by applying it to the measurement of area and length under the variations of both the distance and the angle of CCD camera. And its performance is compared to that of the rotating and mapping method of image which has the Euclidian distance.

This article describes the methods of a decision of the location which user points to move by an optical device like a laser pointer and a moving to that location. Using a conic mirror and CCD camera sensor, a robot observes a spot of user wanted point among an initiative, computes the location and azimuth and moves to that position. This system offers the brief data to a processor with simple devices. In these reason, we can reduce the time of a calculation to process of images and find the target by user point for carrying a robot. User points a laser spot on a point to be moved so that this sensor system in the robot, detecting the laser spot point with a conic mirror, laid on the robot, showing a camera. The camera is attached on the robot upper body and fixed parallel to the ground and the conic mirror.

This study was reviewed the noise reduction effects with installation of 'point to point speed camera' for controlling the speed of the car. The multiple regression analysis was performed to know how the relationship between the noise level and these parameters, such as measured traffic volume and rate of heavy vehicle and weighted average speed was changed with and without the 'point to point speed camera'. In the analysis results shows that the less traffic volume, the more noise reduction effect has been increased and the more traffic volume, the more noise reduction effect has been reduced. And noise reduction effects by the 'point to point speed camera' was different from each measured point. The cause of the difference was determined that inadequate 'point to point speed camera' position to see the effect of noise reduction. It is determined to require a more study to improve the noise reduction effects of the 'point to point speed camera' such as the camera position adjustment.

This paper proposes a self-calibration method of robots those are used in industrial assembly lines. The proposed method is a position compensation using laser sensor and vision camera. Because the laser sensor is cross type laser sensor which can scan a horizontal and vertical line, it is efficient way to detect a feature of vehicle and winding shape of vehicle's body. For position compensation of 3-Dimensional axis, we applied block interpolation method. For selecting feature point, pattern matching method is used and 3-D position is selected by Euclidean distance mapping between 462 feature values and evaluated feature point. In order to evaluate the proposed algorithm, experiments are performed in real industrial vehicle assembly line. In results, robot's working point can be displayed 3-D points. These points are used to diagnosis error of position and reselecting working point.

To obtain visual information of a target object, a camera should be placed within the visibility region. As the visibility region is dependent on the relative position of the target object and the surrounding object, the position change of the surrounding object during a task requires recalculation of the visibility region. For a fast computation of the visibility region so as to modify the camera position to be located within the visibility region, we propose a spherical projection method. After being projected onto the sphere the visibility region is represented in $\theta$-$\psi$ spaces of the spherical coordinates. The reduction of calculation space enables a fast modification of the camera location according to the motion of the surrounding objects so that the continuous observation of the target object during the task is possible.
Gaze detection is to find out the position on a monitor screen where a user is looking at, using the computer vision processing. This System can help the handicapped to use a computer, substitute a touch screen which is expensive, and navigate the virtual reality. There are basically two main types of the study of gaze detection. The first is to find out the location by face movement, and the second is by eye movement. In the gaze detection by eye movement, we find out the position with special devices, or the methode of image processing. In this paper, we detect not the iris but the pupil from the image captured by Head-Mounted Camera with infra-red light, and accurately locate the position where a user looking at by A(fine Transform.
