부방향 동압력을 이용한 압전형 압력센서의 교정기법 (A Dynamic Calibration Technique for Piezoelectric Sensors Using Negative Going Dynamic Pressure)

  • The determination of response characteristics for pressure sensors is routinely limited to static calibration against a deadweight pressure standard. The strength of this method is that the deadweight device is a primary standard used to generate precise pressure. Its weakness lies in the assumption that the static and dynamic responses of the sensor in question are equivalent. Differences in sensor response to static and dynamic events, however, can lead to serious measurement errors. Dynamic techniques are required to calibrate pressure sensors measuring dynamic events in milliseconds. In this paper, a dynamic calibration using negative going dynamic pressure is proposed to determine dynamic pressure response for piezoelectric sensors. Sensitivity and linearity of sensor by the dynamic calibration were compared with those by the static calibration. The uncertainty of calibration results and the goodness of fit test of linear regression analysis were presented. The results show that the dynamic calibration is applicable to determine dynamic pressure response for piezoelectric sensors.

  • A new non-contact method of the frost thickness measurement has been developed. The method is based on the digital image processing technique to identify the reflection edge of the image captured by a CCD camera under laser sheet light illumination. To insure the accuracy of frost layer thickness, an in-situ calibration procedure is carried out with a calibration target with 0.5mm holes. Using the mapping function obtained by the calibration procedure, the contour of frost surface can be estimated with sub-pixel resolutions. The developed method is applied to study the effect of cooling plate temperature on the frost thickness in a small low speed wind tunnel.

Estimation Technique of Fixed Sensor Errors for SDINS Calibration

  • It is important to estimate and calibrate sensor errors in maintaining the performance level of SDINS. In this study, an estimation technique of fixed sensor errors for SDINS calibration is discussed. First, the fixed errors of gyros and accelerometers, excluding gyro biases are estimated by the navigation information of SDINS in multi-position. The SDINS with RLG includes flexure errors. In this study, the gyros flexures are out of consideration, but the proposed procedure selects certain positions and rotations in order to minimize the influence of flexures. Secondly, the influences of random walks, flexures and orientation errors are verified via numerical simulations. Thirdly, applying the previous estimated errors to SDINS, the estimation of gyro biases is conducted via the additional control signals of close-loop self-alignment. Lastly, the experiments illustrate that the extracted calibration parameters are available for the improvement of SDINS.

A Calibration Technique for a Redundant IMU Containing Low-Grade Inertial Sensors

  • A calibration technique for a redundant inertial measurement unit (IMU) containing low-grade inertial sensors is proposed. In order to calibrate a redundant IMU that can detect and isolate faulty sensors, the fundamental coordinate frames in the IMU are defined and the IMU error is modeled based on the frames. Equations to estimate the error coefficients of the redundant IMU are formulated, and a test sequence using a 2-axis turntable is also presented. Finally, a redundant IMU with cone configuration is implemented using low-grade inertial sensors, and the performance of the proposed technique is verified experimentally.

  • Odometry using wheel encoder is a common relative positioning technique for wheeled mobile robots. The major drawback of odometry is that the kinematic modeling errors are accumulated when the travel distance increases. Therefore, accurate calibration of odometry is required. In several related works, various schemes for odometry calibration are proposed. However, design guidelines of test tracks for odometry calibration were not considered. More accurate odometry calibration results can be achieved by using appropriate test track because the position and orientation errors after the test are affected by the test track. In this paper, we propose the design guidelines of test tracks for odometry calibration schemes using experimental heading errors. Numerical simulations and experiments clearly demonstrate that the proposed design guidelines result in more accurate calibration results.

An 8-b 1GS/s Fractional Folding CMOS Analog-to-Digital Converter with an Arithmetic Digital Encoding Technique

  • A fractional folding analog-to-digital converter (ADC) with a novel arithmetic digital encoding technique is discussed. In order to reduce the asymmetry errors of the boundary conditions for the conventional folding ADC, a structure using an odd number of folding blocks and fractional folding rate is proposed. To implement the fractional technique, a new arithmetic digital encoding technique composed of a memory and an adder is described. Further, the coding errors generated by device mismatching and other external factors are minimized, since an iterating offset self-calibration technique is adopted with a digital error correction logic. A prototype 8-bit 1GS/s ADC has been fabricated using an 1.2V 0.13 um 1-poly 6-metal CMOS process. The effective chip area is $2.1mm^2$(ADC core : $1.4mm^2$, calibration engine : $0.7mm^2$), and the power consumption is 88 mW. The measured SNDR is 46.22 dB at the conversion rate of 1 GS/s. Both values of INL and DNL are within 1 LSB.

  • In this paper, we formulate Kalman filter for calibration of strapdown inertial measurment unit(SDIMU) on navigation system level and analyize its performance by covariance simulation method. It has been shown that the calibration method suggested in this paper is not largely influenced by accuracy of a mounting axis alignment required in calibration of SDIMU on IMU level.

  • Annubar is one of popular tools to measure the exhausted gas flow rate from the stacks. For the accurate monitoring of the amount of discharged pollutants, calibration of annubar is very important. Calibration of annubar has been carried out in a wind tunnel. When the length of annubar is longer than the test section size of wind tunnel, it is very difficult to find out typical value of annubar coefficients. So, a measurement technique to calibrate annubar longer than the size of the test section of wind tunnel must be developed. In the present study, an experiment is performed to measure the annubar coefficients in such a limited size of the wind tunnel. The experimental annubar coefficient by using a partial blocking technique is very close to the annubar coefficient of normal condition.

분포형 모형의 다지점 보정 모듈 개발 - GRM 모형을 중심으로 - (Development of a Multi-Site Calibration Module of Distributed Model - The Case of GRM -)

  • 분포형 모형은 유역내에서 공간 분포된 임의 지점의 유출해석 결과를 손쉽게 얻을 수 있다. 이때 다양한 특성을 가지는 소유역으로 구성된 유역의 경우, 소유역에 대해 신뢰성 있는 유출량을 얻기 위해서는 소유역별로 보정된 모형을 적용해야 한다. 본 연구에서는 관측 유량자료가 있는 소유역별로 모형을 보정할 수 있는 다지점 보정 기술을 개발하였다. 이를 위해서 다지점 보정 대상매개변수의 선정 및 적용 방법과 소유역 네트워크 정보를 설정하는 방법을 제시하였다. 또한 다지점 보정 모듈을 구현하기 위한 클래스를 설계하고 GUI를 개발하였으며, 소유역별로 설정된 매개 변수를 이용한 유출해석 절차를 정립하였다. 다지점 보정 모듈을 낙동강 수계 선산 유역($977km^2$)에 적용하였다. 적용결과 다지점 보정 모듈은 유역내 소유역에 대한 모형의 보정에 효과적으로 적용할 수 있었으며, 다지점 보정에 의해서 소유역의 유출해석 결과를 향상시킬 수 있었다.
