Cyber attacks on national infrastructure, including large-scale power outages in Ukraine, have continued in recent years. As a result, ICS-CERT vulnerabilities have doubled compared to last year, and vulnerabilities to industrial control systems are increasing day by day. Most control system operators develop vulnerability countermeasures based on the vulnerability information sources provided by ICS-CERT in the United States. However, it is not applicable to the security of domestic control systems because it does not provide weaknesses in Korean manufacturers' products. Therefore, this study presents a vulnerability analysis framework that integrates CVE, CWE, CAPE, and CPE information related to the vulnerability based on ICS-CERT information (1843 cases). It also identifies assets of nuclear facilities by using CPE information and analyzes vulnerabilities using CVE and ICS-CERT. In the past, only 8% of ICS-CERT's vulnerability information was searched for information on any domestic nuclear facility during vulnerability analysis, but more than 70% of the vulnerability information could be searched using the proposed methodology.
AV (Atomic Vulnerability) is a conceptual definition representing a vulnerability in a systematic way, AVs are defined with respect to its type, location, and result. It is important information for meaning based vulnerability analysis method. Therefore the existing vulnerability can be expressed using multiple AVs, CVE (common vulnerability exposures) which is the most well-known vulnerability information describes the vulnerability exploiting mechanism using natural language. Therefore, for the AV-based analysis, it is necessary to search specific keyword from CVE's description and classify it using keyword and determination method. This paper introduces software design and implementation result, which can be used for atomic vulnerability analysis. The contribution of this work is in design and implementation of software which converts informal vulnerability description into formal AV based vulnerability definition.

As the number of security vulnerabilities increases yearly, security threats continue to occur, and the vulnerability risk is also important. We devise a security threat score calculation reflecting trends to determine the risk of security vulnerabilities. The three stages considered key elements such as attack type, supplier, vulnerability trend, and current attack methods and techniques. First, it reflects the results of checking the relevance of the attack type, supplier, and CVE. Secondly, it considers the characteristics of the topic group and CVE identified through the LDA algorithm by the Jaccard similarity technique. Third, the latest version of the MITER ATT&CK framework attack method, technology trend, and relevance between CVE are considered. We used the data within overseas sites provide reliable security information to review the usability of the proposed final formula CTRS. The scoring formula makes it possible to fast patch and respond to related information by identifying vulnerabilities with high relevance and risk only with some particular phrase.

The rise in popularity of cloud services has brought about a heightened concern for security in the field of cloud computing. As a response, governments have implemented CSAP(Cloud Security Assurance Program) to ensure the security of these services. However, despite such measures, the emergence of various security vulnerabilities persists, resulting in incidents related to cloud security breaches. To address this, the utilization of Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE) has been proposed as a means to facilitate the sharing of vulnerability information across different domains. Nevertheless, the unique characteristics of cloud services present challenges in assigning CVE IDs to the diverse range of vulnerabilities within the cloud environment. In this study, we analyzed how CVE can be effectively employed to enhance cloud security. The assignment of a CVE ID is contingent upon the fulfillment of three rules in the Counting Decision and five rules in the Inclusion Decision. Notably, the third rule in the Inclusion Decision, INC3, clashes with the nature of cloud services, resulting in obstacles in assigning CVE IDs to various cloud vulnerabilities. To tackle this issue, we suggest the appointment of designated individuals who would be responsible for overseeing specific areas of cloud services, thereby enabling the issuance of CVE IDs. This proposed approach aims to overcome the challenges associated with the unique characteristics of cloud services and ensure the seamless sharing of vulnerability information. Information sharing regarding vulnerabilities is crucial in the field of security, and by incorporating cloud vulnerabilities into the CVE system, this method can contribute to enhancing the security of cloud services.

Spring framework is widely used as a base technology for e-government frameworks and to the extent it is a standard for web service development tools of Korean public institutions. However, recently, a remote code execution vulnerability(CVE-2018-1270) was found in an application using a spring framework. This paper proposes a method of analyzing the vulnerability experiment using a hacking scenario, Proof Of Concept(POC), in which the spring framework is a hazard to the server. We propose the patch to version 4.3.16 and version 5.0.5 or later as an ultimate response. It is also expected that the proposed experiment analysis on vulnerability of hacking scenario will be used as a data for improving performance of security programs and establishing a new authentication system.

In this study, we wanted to examine the new vulnerability 'Dirty Pipe' that is founded in Linux kernel. how it's exploited and what is the limitation, where it's existed, and overcome techniques and analysis of the Linux kernel package. The study of the method used the hmark[1] program to check the vulnerabilities. Hmark is a whitebox testing tool that helps to analyze the vulnerability based on static whitebox testing and automated verification. For this purpose of our study, we analyzed Linux kernel code that is downloaded from an open-source website. Then by analyzing the hmark tool results, we identified in which file of the kernel it exists, cvss level, statistically depicted vulnerabilities on graph which is easy to understand. Furthermore, we will talk about some software we can use to analyze a vulnerability and how hmark software works. In the case of the Dirty Pipe vulnerability in Linux allows non-privileged users to execute malicious code capable of a host of destructive actions including installing backdoors into the system, injecting code into scripts, altering binaries used by elevated programs, and creating unauthorized user profiles. This bug is being tracked as CVE-2022-0847 and has been termed "Dirty Pipe"[2] since it bears a close resemblance to Dirty Cow[3], and easily exploitable Linux vulnerability from 2016 which granted a bad actor an identical level of privileges and powers.

Most control system operators formulate vulnerability countermeasures based on the vulnerability information sources of industrial control systems provided by ICS-CERT in the United States. However, it is difficult to apply this to the security of domestic control systems because ICS-CERT does not contain all relevant vulnerability information and does not provide vulnerabilities to domestic manufacturer's products. In this research, we will utilize publicly available vulnerability-related information such as CVE, CWE, ICS-CERT, and CPE to discover vulnerabilities that may exist in control system assets and may occur in the future. I proposed a plan that can predict possible vulnerabilities and applied it to information on major domestic control systems.

If the software is not updated after the vulnerability is disclosed, it can continue to be attacked. As a result, the importance of N-day detection is increasing as attacks that exploit vulnerabilities increase. However, there is a problem that it is difficult to find specific version information in the published vulnerability database, or that the wrong version or software is outputted. There is also a limitation in that the connection between the published vulnerability databases is not good. In order to overcome these limitations, this paper proposes a method of building information including comprehensive vulnerability information such as CVE, CPE, and Exploit Database into an integrated database. Furthermore, by developing a website for searching for vulnerabilities based on an integrated database built as a result of this study, it is effective in detecting and utilizing vulnerabilities in specific software versions and Windows operating systems.

Recent developments in hacking technology are continuing to increase the number of new security vulnerabilities. Approximately 80,000 new vulnerabilities have been registered in the Common Vulnerability Enumeration (CVE) database, which is a representative vulnerability database, from 2010 to 2015, and the trend is gradually increasing in recent years. While security vulnerabilities are growing at a rapid pace, responses to security vulnerabilities are slow to respond because they rely on manual analysis. To solve this problem, there is a need for a technology that can automatically detect and patch security vulnerabilities and respond to security vulnerabilities in advance. In this paper, we propose the technology to extract the features of the vulnerability-discovery target binary through complexity analysis, and select a vulnerability-discovery strategy suitable for the feature and automatically explore the vulnerability. The proposed technology was compared to the AFL, ANGR, and Driller tools, with about 6% improvement in code coverage, about 2.4 times increase in crash count, and about 11% improvement in crash incidence.
There are a great number of Internet-connected devices and their information can be acquired through an Internet-wide scanning tool. By associating device information with publicly known security vulnerabilities, security experts are able to determine whether a particular device is vulnerable. Currently, the identification of the device information and its related vulnerabilities is manually carried out. It is necessary to automate the process to identify a huge number of Internet-connected devices in order to analyze more than one hundred thousand security vulnerabilities. In this paper, we propose a method of automatically generating device information in the Common Platform Enumeration (CPE) format from banner text to discover potentially weak devices having the Common Vulnerabilities Exposures (CVE) vulnerability. We demonstrated that our proposed method can distinguish as much adequate CPE information as possible in the service banner.
