This study was conducted to investigate the characteristics of CO oxidation by NO poisoning in Pt/TiO2 catalyst prepared by wet impregnation method and calcined at 400 ℃. In order to confirm the NO poisoning effect of the Pt/TiO2 catalyst, the change of reaction activity was observed when NO was injected during the CO+O2 reaction where it was ascertained that the CO conversion rate rapidly decreased below 200 ℃. Also, CO conversion was not observed below 125 ℃. Recovery of initial CO conversion was not verified even if NO injection was blocked at 125 ℃. Accordingly, various analyses were performed according to NO injection. First, as a result of the TPD analysis, it was confirmed that NO pre-adsorption in catalyst inhibited CO adsorption and conversion desorption from adsorbed CO to CO2. When NO was pre-adsorbed, it was confirmed through H2-TPR analysis that the oxygen mobility of the catalyst was reduced. In addition, it was validated through FT-IR analysis that the redox cycle (Pt2+→Pt0→Pt2+) of the catalyst was inhibited. Therefore, the presence of NO in the Pt/TiO2 catalyst was considered to be a poisoning factor in the CO oxidation reaction, and it was determined that the oxygen mobility of the catalyst is required to prevent NO poisoning.

This study analyzed the ratio of carbon monoxide (CO) and carbon dioxide (CO2), CO and nitrogen dioxide (NO2) for cities and regionsin Korea and China using column-averaged carbon dioxide dry-air mole fraction (XCO2) of the Orbiting Carbon Observatory-2/3, CO and NO2 vertical column density (named XCO, XNO2 in thisstudy) of TROPOspheric monitoring instrument from April 2018 to April 2022, and presented the relationship between socioeconomic indicators (population, number of vehicles, Gross Regional Domestic Product) and ratio, and differences in characteristics between Korea and China. First, CO2 and CO were analyzed after calculating ΔXCO2 and ΔXCO removing the background value and trend line due to the difference in atmospheric residence time of three gaseous substances (CO2, CO, and NO2). Comparing the three values by regions, ΔXCO and ΔXCO2 were relatively higher in China and XNO2 were higher in Korea and the ratio of both values (ΔXCO/ΔXCO2, ΔXCO/XNO2) was higher in China than in Korea. ΔXCO/ΔXCO2, ΔXCO/XNO2 and socioeconomic indicators have a positive correlation suggesting that the concentration of air pollutants and greenhouse gases is higher as the city is large and the economic activity is active. Regarding the differences in the ratio characteristics of Korea and China, the relationship between ΔXCO and ΔXCO2 showed a negative correlation in Korea and a positive correlation in China. When the relationship between ΔXCO and XNO2 was examined for summer and winter, the change of ΔXCO by season was not significant in Korea, whereasthe change of ΔXCO and XNO2 by season waslarge in China resulting in the relationship between two countries appeared differently. These results suggest that seasonal variability and national emission characteristics should be considered in the process of analyzing the ratio of greenhouse gases to air pollutants.
Mn-M/Al2O3 (M = Cu, Fe, Co, and Ce) catalysts were prepared for simultaneous oxidation of NO, CO, and CH4, and their oxidation activities were compared. The Mn-Cu/ Al2O3 catalyst with the best simultaneous oxidation activity was characterized by XRD, Raman, XPS, and O2-TPD analysis. The result of XRD indicated that Mn and Cu existed as complex oxides in the Mn-Cu/Al2O3 catalyst. Raman and XPS results showed that electron transfer between Mn ions and Cu ions occurred during the formation of the Mn-O-Cu bond in the Mn-Cu/Al2O3 catalyst. The XPS O 1s and O2-TPD analyses showed that the Mn-Cu/Al2O3 catalyst has more adsorbed oxygen species with high mobility than the Mn/Al2O3 catalyst. The high simultaneous oxidation activity of the Mn-Cu/Al2O3 catalyst is attributed to these results. Gas-phase NO promotes the oxidation reactions of CO and CH4 in the Mn-Cu/Al2O3 catalyst while suppressing the NO oxidation reaction. These results were presumed to be because the oxidized NO was used as an oxidizing agent for CO and CH4. On the other hand, the oxidation reactions of CO and CH4 competed on the Mn-Cu/Al2O3 catalyst, but the effect was not noticeable because the catalyst activation temperature was different.
We have investigated the kinetics and catalytic activity of $CO_2$-lignite gasification with various metal precursors as catalysts. $K_2CO_3$, $Mn(NO_3)_2$, and $Ce(NO_3)_3$ were used and impregnated on a coal using an evaporator. The gasification experiments were carried out with the low rank coal loaded with 5 wt% catalyst at the temperature range from $700{\sim}900^{\circ}C$ and atmospheric pressure with the $N_2-CO_2$ reactant gas mixture. The catalytic effect on the gasification rate of the low rank coal with $CO_2$ was determined by the thermogravimetric analyzer. It was observed that the low rank coal reached the complete carbon conversion regardless of the kinds of catalysts at $900^{\circ}C$ from the results of TGA. The catalytic activity was ranked as 5 wt% $K_2CO_3$ > 5 wt% $Mn(NO_3)_2$ > 5 wt% $Ce(NO_3)_3$ > Non-catalyst at $900^{\circ}C$. The gasification rate increased with increasing the temperature. The activation energy of the catalytic gasification with 5 wt% $K_2CO_3$ was 119.0 kJ/mol, which was the lowest among all catalysts.
MILD(Moderate or Intense Low-oxygen Dilution) combustion has attracted attention as the clean thermal energy technology due to the lower emissions of unburnt carbon and NOx. MILD combustion aims to enlarge the combustion reaction zone using the spontaneous ignition phenomenon of the reactants. In this study, the ignition delay time of CH4 according to the initial temperature of reactants and the addition of CO, H2 was investigated using a numerical approach. Ignition delay time became shorter as the increases of initial temperature and H2 addition. But, CO addition to the fuel increase the ignition delay time. In case of H2 addition to the fuel, the ignition delay time decreased because the higher fraction of HO2 promotes the decomposition of methyl radical(CH3) and produce OH radical. However, in case of CO addition to the fuel, ignition delay time inceased because a high proportion of HCO consumes H radical. There was no significant effect of HCO on the reduction of ignition delay time. Also, the increase rates of NO emissions by the addition of CO and H2 were approximately 7% and 1%, respectively. A high proportion of NCO affects the increase in NO production rate.
Most of LNT catalysts use noble metals such as Pt for low temperature NOx oxidation but there is an economic weakness. For the purpose of overcoming this, this study is to develop DeNOx catalyst for LNT excluding PGM (platinum group metal) such as Pt, Pd, Rh, etc. To do so, Al/Co/Ni catalyst selected as a preliminary test is used to study fundamental property and NOx’s conversion according to calcined temperature. Ultimately, that is, Al/Co/Ni mixed metal oxide which does not use PGM is selected and physicochemical characterization is performed by way of XRD, EDS, SEM, BET and ramp test and NOx conversion is also analyzed. This study shows that all samples consist of mixed oxides of spinel structure of Co2AlO4 and NiAl2O4 and have enough pore volume and size for redox. But as a result of NH3-TPD test, it is desired that calcined temperature needs to be maintained at 700 ℃ or lower. Also only samples which are processed under 500 ℃ satisfied NO and NOx conversion simultaneously through ramp test. Based on this study’s results, optimum calcined temperature for Al/Co/Ni=1.0/2.5/0.3 mixed metal oxide catalyst is 500 ℃.
We examined degradation characteristics of lead based pigments(white lead, Red lead, Litharge) according to atmospheric environmet condition, for example atmospheric gas(CO2, NO2) and soluble salt. Painted samples not changed material compositions but were occured the color change(𝚫E 4~31) after exposed UV irradiation. All sample were not affected by CO2 gas not only color but chemical composition. However, samples were remakably changed color exposed NO2 gas and it was formed secondary product like as lead nitrate. Such as red lead and white lead samples' color difference were 𝚫E 2 and 𝚫 10 respectively and became dark, along with litharge became bright and color difference was 𝚫E 5 after react with NO2 gas. It confirm that NO2 was influential factor than CO2 in the case of same concentration. Furthermore salt spray test was taken to figure out soluble salt influence in fine dust. The result showed noticeable color change and secondary product was formed on samples' surface. The glue film peeled off or hole, and color changed around the secondary products. After salt spray, XRD pattern showed decrease peak intensity and lower crystalinity. As a result of salt spray test, white lead was formed new product litharge and litharge was formed litharge and minium. According to the results, influential atmospheric factors for conservation of paint pigments were UV, NO2, soluble salt, and litharge was most weakness throughout lead base pigments.
The potential candidates for IT-SOFCs cathode materials, $Ba_{0.5}Sr_{0.5}Co_{0.8}Fe_{0.2}O_{3-{\delta}}$ (BSCF) and $La_{0.6}Ba_{0.4}Co_{0.2}Fe_{0.8}O_{3-{\delta}}$ (LBCF) powders, were synthesized by a EDTA-citrate combined method from $Sr(NO_3)_2$, $Ba(NO_3)_2$, $La(NO_3)_3{\cdot}6H_2O$, $Co(NO_3)_2{\cdot}6H_2O$, $Fe(NO_3)_3{\cdot}9H_2O$, citric acid and $EDTA-NH_3$. The cathode performance of symmetrical electrochemical cells consisting of BSCF-GDC or LBCF-GDC composite electrodes and a GDC electrolyte was investigated using by AC impedance spectroscopy at the temperature range of 500 to $700^{\circ}C$. It was found that a single phase perovskite could be successfully synthesized when the precursor is heated at $850^{\circ}C$ for 2 h. Due to thermal expansion mismatch between BSCF and GDC, the composite cathodes with lower GDC content than 45 wt% were peeled off from the GDC electrolyte and their electrode polarization resistance was estimated to be high. The thermal expansion coefficient of BSCF-GDC composites was decreased with increasing the GDC content and the electrode peeling off did not occur in BSCF-45 and 55 wt% GDC composites. BSCF-45 wt% GDC composite electrode showed the lowest area specific resistances (ASR) of 0.15 and $0.04{\Omega}{\cdot}cm^2$ at 600 and $700^{\circ}C$, respectively. On the other hand, LBCF-GDC composite cathodes showed higher ASR than the BSCF-45 and 55 wt% GDC and their cathode performance were decreased with the GDC content.
Objectives: This study investigated the association between air pollutant levels and medical usage rates for environmental disease in a general residential area during the period 2015-2017. Methods: Air pollutant (PM10, PM2.5, SO2, NO2, CO, O3) data were collected from Air-Korea. Medical usage data on environmental disease (asthma, allergic rhinitis, atopic dermatitis) for the period 2015-2017 in a general residential area in Gyeongsangnam-do Province were provided by the National Health Insurance Corporation. Pearson correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis were conducted to investigate the association between air pollutant levels and medical usage rates (SAS 9.4). In the multiple regression analysis, environmental disease was set as the dependent variable and air pollutants were set as independent variables and analyzed using the General Linear Model. Results: Except for PM2.5, the average concentration of air pollutants in the surveyed area was below than the air environment standards of Korea. NO2 was higher than Korea's national average, but CO was similar. The others were lower than the Korea's national average. The daily medical usage rates for environmental disease were 1.38‰ for asthma, 9.90‰ for allergic rhinitis, and 0.32‰ for atopic dermatitis. As a result of correlation analysis, PM10 and SO2, NO2 and CO were significantly correlated with asthma, PM10 and NO2 and CO were correlated with allergic rhinitis, and PM10 and PM2.5, SO2, NO2 and CO were correlated with atopic dermatitis. As a result of multiple regression analysis, PM10 and SO2 were found to have a higher effect on asthma, PM10 and NO2 on allergic rhinitis, and SO2 and NO2 on atopic dermatitis, compared to other air pollutants. Conclusion: According to these results, air pollutants such as PM10 and SO2 and NO2 were associated with the medical usage rates of environmental disease even in relatively low concentrations. Therefore, continuous monitoring will be required for general residential areas.
Impedancemetric $NO_x$ (NO and $NO_2$) gas sensors were designed with a stacked-layer structure and fabricated using $LaCr_xCo_{1-x}O_3$ (x = 0, 0.2, 0.5, 0.8 and 1) as the receptor material and $Li_{1.3}Al_{0.3}Ti_{1.7}(PO_4)_3$ plates as the solid-electrolyte transducer material. The $LaCr_xCo_{1-x}O_3$ layers were prepared with a polymeric precursor method that used ethylene glycol as the solvent, acetyl acetone as the chelating agent, and polyvinylpyrrolidone as the polymer additive. The effects of the Co concentration on the structural, morphological, and $NO_x$ sensing properties of the $LaCr_xCo_{1-x}O_3$ powders were investigated with powder X-ray diffraction, field emission scanning electron microscopy, and its response to 20~250 ppm of $NO_x$ at $400^{\circ}C$ (for 1 kHz and 0.5 V), respectively. When the as-prepared precursors were calcined at $700^{\circ}C$, only a single phase was detected, which corresponded to a perovskite-type structure. The XRD results showed that as the Co concentration of the $LaCr_xCo_{1-x}O_3$powders increased, the crystal structure was transformed from an orthorhombic phase to a rhombohedral phase. Moreover, the $LaCr_xCo_{1-x}O_3$ powders with $0{\leq}x<0.8$ had a rhombohedral symmetry. The size of the particles in the $LaCr_xCo_{1-x}O_3$powders increased from 0.1 to $0.5{\mu}m$ as the Co concentration increased. The sensing performance of the stack-structured $LaCr_xCo_{1-x}O_3/Li_{1.3}Al_{0.3}Ti_{1.7}(PO_4)_3$ sensors was found to divide the impedance component between the resistance and capacitance. The response of these sensors to NO gas was more sensitive than that to $NO_2$ gas. Compared to other impedancemetric sensors, the $LaCr_{0.8}Co_{0.2}O_3/Li_{1.3}Al_{0.3}Ti_{1.7}(PO_4)_3$ sensor exhibited good reversibility and reliable sensingresponse properties for $NO_x$ gases.
