  • The purpose of this study was to determine the service quality satisfier and dissatisfier factors of family restaurants in Korea by using a qualitative research method, the critical incident technique(CIT). The CIT helps researchers find new factors or attributes by grouping key issues and categorizing common factors from the raw data, critical incidents which critically satisfied or dissatisfied customers. The respondents must describe the incidents in details. There are many previous studies on the attributes related to service qualities, selections, and revisiting intentions and the relationships between the attributes. These studies offer many insights for general trends and directions for managing service qualities, but not how to improve service quality practically. It is difficult to know specific service quality factors especially influencing Korean customers because the factors come from previous research and not from the respondents themselves. Therefore, this research categorized key satisfier and dissatisfier factors from 402 critical incidents described by 261 respondents into 5 groups and 33 subcategories. Real cases and examples are also explained that either critically satisfied for dissatisfied customers at family restaurants.

  • Most renal diseases progress by consecutive cell responses such as hypertrophy, hyperplsia, proliferation, defferentiation, sclerosis, fibrosis and other cellular degenerative process. These cellular responses are mediated by the activation of various mitogens such as vasoconstrictors, growth factors, hormone, genotoxins and cytokines through mechanical, hemodynamic, immunological injury as well as metabolic abnormality. • A prerequisite for precise quantification of nanomaterials contained in environmental samples is to prepare suitable preservation conditions of samples. This study was initiated to suggest preservation conditions of aqueous samples for analyses of metal nanomaterials. Variation in the size of silver nanomaterial (cit-AgNP) was observed according to change in various conditions, such as pH, electrolyte concentration, temperature, nanomaterial concentration, and time. Aggregation of AgNP was characterized for each environmental condition, and finally proper preservation conditions of samples were proposed based on experimental results on AgNP aggregation. In addition, the preservation period of sample was computed by the doublet time of AgNP. The results indicate that the aggregation rate of cit-AgNP was close to 0 at the conditions of pH of ${\geq}7$, electrolyte ($Ca(NO_3)_2$) concentration of ${\leq}3mM$, temperature of $4^{\circ}C$, and cit-AgNP concentration of ${\leq}2mg/L$. Furthermore, the experimental results on doublet time of cit-AgNP suggest that maximum preservation period was evaluated to be 15.79~17.53 days when the concentration of 100 nm cit-AgNP is assumed to be $1{\mu}g/L$ which is considered as an environmentally-relevant concentration of engineered nanomaterials. Our results suggest that samples should be preserved at $4^{\circ}C$ and analyzed within 2 weeks.

  • This study aimed at examining if the original memory remains after a misinformation is presented, using Event-Related Potential based Concealed Information Test (ERP-based CIT). In the first stage of the study, the participant was presented with either the original information or a misleading information after experiencing an event (Post-information). The second stage was to measure brain wave and reaction time on the original, misleading, and irrelevant information (CIT-Stimulus). P300 amplitude, P300 area, P300 latency, and reaction time were used as dependant variables. In the result, a significant Post-information ${\times}$ CIT-Stimulus interaction effect was found on the P300 area measured at Cz, Pz, and Oz area. This interaction effect implied the possibility that the original information could be partially impaired in memory by misleading information presented afterward. P300 amplitude at Pz area did not differ between the accurate and the misleading stimuli in the condition in which a misleading information was presented. This result can be explained by source monitoring error. In discussion, the limitations of this study and directions of future studies were discussed.

  • Purpose: This pilot study was performed to understand the pharmacological effect of olanzapine, an atypical antipsychotic agent, on dopamine transporter in schizophrenic patients. Materials and Methods: Six patients (3 male, 3 female) with schizophrenia, who had not taken any psychotropic drugs for at least four weeks, were studied. Nuclear imaging using $[^{123}I]-{\beta}-CIT$ SPECT was obtained before and after 4-week treatment with olanzapine. Analysis of ROI on the striatum, caudate nucleus, and putamen was performed. Results: Post-treatment uptake was significantly increased in all the ROIs compared with pre-treatment uptake. Conclusion: This preliminary study with the small number of schizophrenic patients suggested an increase in uptake of dopamine transporter in the striatum, caudate nucleus, and putamen after 4-week treatment with olanzapine, which warrants a large-scaled controlled study to confirm the current findings.

  • Dopamine transporter imaging is useful in the diagnosis of Parkinson's disease and the most successful technique in the clinical use of neuroreceptor imaging. Recently, several radiopharmaceuticals including I-123 FP-CIT, Tc-99m TRODAT, and F-18 FP-CIT for dopamine transporter imaging have been approved for the routine clinical use in several European countries, Taiwan and Korea, respectively. This review summarized the practical issue for the routine clinical examination of dopamine transporter imaging.

  • Citrus phytoene synthase (CitPsy) and ${\beta}$-carotene hydroxylase (CitChx), which are involved in caroteinoid biosynthesis, are distantly related to the corresponding bacterial enzymes from the point of view of amino acid sequence similarity. We investigated these enzyme activities using Pantoea ananatis carotenoid biosynthetic genes and Escherichia coli as a host cell. The genes were cloned into two vector systems controlled by the T7 promoter. SDS-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis showed that CitPsy and CitChx proteins are normally expressed in E. coli in both soluble and insoluble forms. In vivo complementation using the Pantoea ananatis enzymes and HPLC analysis showed that ${\beta}$-carotene and zeaxanthin were produced in recombinant E. coli, which indicated that the citrus enzymes were functionally expressed in E. coli and assembled into a functional multi-enzyme complex with Pantoea ananatis enzymes. These observed activities well matched the results of other researchers on tomato phytoene synthase and Arabidopsis and pepper ${\beta}$-carotene hydroxylases. Thus, our results suggest that plant carotenoid biosynthetic enzymes can generally complement the bacterial enzymes and could be a means of carotenoid production by molecular breeding and fermentation in bacterial and plant systems.

  • Massive intercalation of urea into montmorillonite (MUCH) was recently proposed to enhance urea use efficiency through smart suppression of emission of $NH_3$ and NOx. This study was to synthesize citrate-incorporated MUCH (Cit-MUCH) which can enhance suppression of $NH_3$ volatilization. The XRD pattern of Cit-MUCH was very similar to that of MUCH to indicate successful incorporation of citric acid into MUCH. Incorporation of citric acid was confirmed by the existence of $COO^-$ symmetric stretching vibration. During the initial 4 days after application, $NH_3$ volatilization from both bare and perilla-planted soils was much more suppressed by application of Cit-MUCH than MUCH. A peak volatilization rate decreased from 28.3 N mg $m^{-2}\;h^{-1}$ of MUCH-broadcasted soil to 22.2 N mg $m^{-2}\;h^{-1}$ of Cit-MUCH-broadcast soil. $NH_3$ volatilization was less in planted soil than bare soil for 72 hrs after application. These results showed that incorporation of citric acid led to increase in suppression of ammonia volatilization from urea-applied soils.

  • Phase change of calcium carbontae crystals in crystallization of precipitated calcium carbonate was researched by adding additives such as ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid(EDTA), diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid(DTPA), citric acid(CIT) and pyromellitic amid(PMA). At low temperature $20^{\circ}C$, calcite crystal was made. At high temperature $80^{\circ}C$, aragonite crystal was made without additives. At middle temperature $40^{\circ}C$ and $60^{\circ}C$, Aragonite crystal also made by adding EDTA, DTPA. The crystal growth of Aragonite was retarded by the presence of CIT, PMA and the single phase of calcite was made. It was found that additives were important factors to make the single phase of calcium carbonate.
