  • In this paper, a new filter structure to improve frequency response characteristics in CIC(Cascaded Integrator-Comb) decimation filters is proposed. Conventional filters improve passband characteristics, but they make worse aliasing band characteristics. In this paper, we propose a new filter which is called IFOP(Interpolated Fourth-Order Polynomials). By using this proposed filter, passband droop and aliasing band attenuation are simultaneously improved. Since proposed filter needs only one multiplication, computation is not much. And overall linear phase characteristics are maintained since the proposed filter is also linear phase. Finally, implementation cost of the proposed filter is compared with those of conventional filters.

  • Power Line Communication (PLC: Power Line Communication) to propagate the current power lines are in every household of the existing infrastructure is the most extensive network configuration. In addition, the cost required for network configuration, the advantage of almost zero for the investors and is sufficient to attract the attention of operators. The PLC is supply power to power lines used the voice and data communication technologies put it on KHz ~ tens of hundreds of high-frequency signal MHz. But because uses power lines as existing wireless communications systems will occurs interference. The notch filters of a common way to eliminate the interference are used. In this paper, a dynamic high-performance notch filter applying CIC filter performance was verified through MATLAB and was implemented using a TI's TMS320C6416T DSP board.

  • In this paper, we propose new gain optimization method for Sigma-Delta A/D converters. First, in proposed method, the 10 candidates are selected through SNR maximization for Sigma-Delta modulator. After then, it is shown that optimum gains can be obtained through MSE calculation for CIC decimation filter. In the simulation, The proposed method has advantages which utilize SNR maximization for modulator and MSE minimization for CIC decimation later. The more candidates are chosen in SNR maximization for modulator, the better gains can be obtained in MSE minimization for CIC decimation filter.

  • Available electric wave resources have been limited than frequency demands that increase with the development of radio communication. According to FCC's (Federal Communication Commission) report, 70% of allocated spectrum was unused. This means that the lack phenomenon of electronic wave resources is ineffectively managed compare with the finiteness of frequency resources. According to the recognition of unused frequency within allocated band, this progress has been investigating to identify the unused TV channel and provide radio communication services. This paper proposed the sensing algorithm that efficiently recognizes the frequency resources which does not use and shares with the licensed user through using the multi-band CIC (Cascaded Integrator Comb) filter based on polyphase filter bank. The simulation results verifies that the proposed scheme can obtain the similar performance of variance and relatively low complexity to the existing scheme.

  • Currently, The new communication system was very important because of the increasing demand for Internet access. One of these alternatives is the PLC. But, Power Line is not suitable for communication. So, electromagnetic wave is generated from Power Line during flow of communication information. And the electromagnetic wave is interfered with Wireless Communication Service using the same frequency range. To eliminate this interference by used Notch tilter. Wavelet OFDM in another way, while one is used. In this paper, Wavelet OFDM CIC filter used in the CMFB structure by applying a further lowering the value of the side-lobe is proposed to improve performance.

  • While the oversampling sigma-delta ADCs are known to have high resolution, they often suffer from SNDR losses when operated at a very high data clock. This paper presents a design and implementation of a decimation filter that provides minimum distortion at passband for high-speed sigma-delta ADC. The proposed digital decimation filter employs a butterworth structure. To evaluate the performance of the proposed decimation filter, we implemented a 1-bit, third-order, OSR=64 sigma-delta modulator followed by the proposed decimation filter. Using the simulation ad measurement, we compared the performance of the proposed decimation filter with a conventional CIC(cascaded integrator comb) decimation filter, which is commonly used in most sigma-delta ADCs. The measurement results show that the proposed decimation filter presents substantially lower distortion at passband and thus can provide must higher SNDR.

  • In this paper, a new filter structure to improve frequency response characteristics in decimation filter using CIC(Cascaded Integrator-Comb) filters and half band filters is proposed. Conventional filters improve only passband characteristics, but we propose a new filter which can improve stop band and pass band characteristics simultaneously. Since proposed filter needs only two multiplication, additional implementation cost is not much. And overall linear phase characteristics are maintained since the proposed filter is also linear phase. Finally, filter coefficients quantization effects ate discussed after Verilog-HDL coding.

  • In this paper, we propose a new gain optimization technique for Sigma-Delta A/D converters. In the proposed scheme, multiple gain set candidates showing maximum SNR in the modulator block are selected, and then multiple gain set candidates are investigated for minimum MSE in decimation block. Through CIC decimation filter simulation, it is shown that second SNR ranking candidate in modulation block is the best gain set.

  • The purpose of this paper is to compare complexity and to assess flexibility of competing transponder architectures for satellite communication services. For performance comparison, we consider three channelization techniques: digital down converter(DDC) based on the use of the cascaded integrator-comb(CIC) filter, tuneable pipeline frequency transform(T-PFT) based on the tree-structure(TS) and variable oversampled complex-modulated filter banks(OCM-FB) based on the polyphase FFT(P-FFT). The comparison begins by presenting a basic architecture of each channelization method and includes analytical expressions of the number of multiplications as a computational complexity perspective. The analytical results show that DDC with CIC filter requires the heavy computational burden and the perfect flexibility. T-PFT based on the TS provides the almost perfect flexibility with the low complexity over DDC with the CIC filter for a large number of sub-channels. OCM-FB based on the P-FFT shows the high flexibility and the best computational complexity performance compared with other approaches.
