  • When reinforcing an existing building with the Concrete Filled Tube(CFT) structure, it is impossible to form a diaphragm inside with the existing method. Therefore, in this study, a construction method was proposed so that the force could be transmitted using the friction force between the diaphragm and the concrete using a double diaphragm.

  • 강관의 내부에 콘크리트를 충전한 콘크리트 충전 강관 구조(CFT 구조, Concrete Filled Steel Tubular Structure)는 강재와 콘크리트의 단점을 상호 보완하고, 장점을 극대화 할 수 있다는 이점 때문에 최근 실제 구조물의 시공에 적용하는 사례가 증가하고 있는 추세이다. 이와 같은 CFT 거더의 장점을 살리면서 CFT 거더보다 더 뛰어난 경제적, 구조적 효율성을 얻기 위해 기존의 CFT 구조에 아치 형식과 프리스트레스를 도입한 CFTA(Concrete Filled and Tied Tubular Arch) 거더에 관한 연구가 현재 진행중이다. 본 연구에서는 CFTA 거더의 현장 실험과의 비교를 위해 ABAQUS 6.5-1을 이용하여 CFTA 거더의 유한요소 해석을 수행하였고, 이를 바탕으로 구조물의 선형거동을 분석하였다. 또한 구조물의 위험도 분석을 위해 본 구조물의 가장 약점으로 지적되고 있는 외부로 노출되어 있는 긴장재의 차량 충돌에 의한 사고를 가정하여 이를 고려한 유한 요소 해석을 수행하여 CFTA 구조물의 동적 및 정적 안전성 평가를 수행하고 그 결과를 분석하였다.

  • Due to social problems such as the increasing of land price and the expanding of city, buildings require more complex and bigger components and structure. However, the complex and massive building projects need new technology to solve effect of local buckling and the needs for more space. Hence, Concrete Filled Tube Steel (CFT), the tube steel to hold concrete during pouring and curing of concrete procedure, which helps to reduce local buckling and space, was developed. Most researches on CFT might not be focused on the characteristic of concrete 'filled in tube but structural analysis. However, it is the essential factor to increase the strength of concrete on CFT for having efficient results. Therefore, this paper will describe how to apply CFT into the construction site through examining High Strength Concrete $(800kg/cm^2)$, the strength of core, and bleeding during pouring strategy.

Simplified design formula of slender concrete filled steel tubular beam-columns

  • The objective of this paper is to develop a simplified method that could predict the strength of concrete filled steel tube (CFT) columns applicable to high strength material under combined axial compression and flexure. The simplified method for determining the strength of CFT columns is based on the interaction curve of the section approached by a polygonal connection of the points. These points are determined by using symmetrical properties of the CFT section. For each point, a simple equation is proposed to determine the strength of the slender columns under compression and flexure. The simple equation was adjusted with results of elasto-plastic analysis results. Validation of the simplified method is undertaken by comparison with data from the test conducted at Kyushu University. These results confirm the fact that the simplified method could accurately and reliably predict the strength of CFT columns under combined axial compression and flexure.

콘크리트충전 원형강관 기둥의 축강성에 관한 실험연구 (An Experimental Study on the Axial Stiffness of the Concrete Filled Circular Steel Tube Columns)

  • AISC-LRFD, ACI 318 and Korean design specifications for concrete filled circular steel tube columns do not consider the increasing of axial stiffness such as the elastic modulus and the yield strength due to the confinement effect. AISC-LRFD and ACI 318, however, shows different basic philosophy and equations for computing the elastic modulus and the strength of CFT columns. Through this experimental study, 9 circular CFT column specimens were made by varying thickness steel tube and concrete strength, the axial stiffness were compared. The comparison between the design specifications and the test results shows different values on the elastic modulus and yield strength of the CFT columns. Even though, yield strength of the CFT columns are very similar between AISC-LRFD and Korean design specifications.

  • A new bridge system described in this paper uses concrete-filled steel tube (CFT) girders as a replacement for conventional girders. Experimental investigations were carried out to comprehend the flexural behavior of CFT girder-slab deck composite section. The experimental investigation consisted of designing and constructing a test specimen and loading it to collapse in bending to check the applicability of the system. The test results showed that concrete filled steel tube girders have good ductility and maintain its strength up to the end of the loading. In the test, the flexural behavior of each specimen of CFT girder-deck composite section is identified.

  • For the construction of Top-Down structures, it is crucial to have a solid connection between prefounded columns and slabs. This paper presents a new construction method for the connection when using a circular Concrete Filled Tube (CFT) as a prefounded column as an alternative to currently using wide flange type columns. The development of shear studded jackets along with a shear band suitable for the circular shape of the column has been made. The details and mechanism of the connection is explained together with the results of experiments which verified the structural integrity of the connection.

  • The structure of Tower Palace III Sports Center building was designed as concrete Filled Steel Tube(CFT) Column and the filled-in concrete was designed as high compressive strength of 500kgf/$m_2$. The self compacting concrete(SCC, non-vibrating concrete) with 65$\pm$5cm flow must be applied to this case for filling the CFT by injecting the concrete from the column bottom. Laboratory tests and pilot productions of batcher plant were performed for optimum mix design and the full scale Mock-Up test was performed to check the appicability of the construction method. As a result, we observed that good quality SCC and the pressure change of concrete pump normally used domestically. Based on these results, we have constructed 20-40m height CFT columns successfully.

  • Construction of buildings downtown is increasing as much as ever with a strong demand. A Top-Down Method is suitable for its advantage in minimizing its disturbance to the neighborhood. In general, the Pre-founded Column, one of the most important aspects of the Top-Down Method, has been made with an H-Shape Steel Column. However, due to its structural and economical benefits, the usage of CFT(Concrete Filled Tube) columns in the place of Pre-founded Columns is increasing. To promote their applications, we analyze the merits of CFT columns by comparing them with I-Shape columns and propose further research.

  • To investigate the properties of high flowing and high strength concrete with crushed sand and fly ash for CFT structure, many batches were performed by a trial-error method. In the experiment W/B was set up three levels as 0.25, 0.30 and 0.35. Also the variables of the experiment were a substitution ratio of fly ash, a blend ratio of crushed sand and the ages of specimens(3, 7, 28 days). The results of this study are summarized as the follows; 1) The effect a substitution ratio of fly ash on the compressive strength was not consistent with age. For twenty-eight day compressive strength, the best result was come out when cement was substituted by 10% of fly ash. 2) The decrease of the water binder ratio, the increase of compressive strength and elastic modulus. Also the relationship is very similar to the case of a normal concrete
