Anodization of Aluminium Samples in Boric Acid Solutions by Optical Interferometry Techniques

  • In the present investigation, holographic interferometry was utilized for the first time to monitor in situ the thickness of the oxide film of aluminium samples during anodization processes in boric acid solutions. The anodization process (oxidation) of the aluminium samples was carried out by the technique of the electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS), in different concentrations of boric acid (0.5-5.0% $H_3BO_3$) at room temperature. In the mean time, the real-time holographic interferometry was used to measure the thickness of anodized (oxide) film of the aluminium samples in solutions. Consequently, holographic interferometry is found very useful for surface finish industries especially for monitoring the early stage of anodization processes of metals, in which the thickness of the anodized film of the aluminium samples can be determined without any physical contact. In addition, measurements of electrochemical values such as the alternating current (A.C) impedance(Z), the double layer capacitance($C_{dl}$), and the polarization resistance(Rp) of anodized films of aluminium samples in boric acid solutions were made by the electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS). Attempts to measure electrochemical values of Z, Cdl, and Rp were not possible by holographic interferometry in boric acid especially in low concentrations of the acid. This is because of the high rate of evolutions of interferometric fringes during the anodization process of the aluminium samples in boric acid, which made measurements of Z, Cdl, and Rp are difficult.

Central Decompressive Laminoplasty for Treatment of Lumbar Spinal Stenosis : Technique and Early Surgical Results

  • Objective : Lumbar spinal stenosis is a common degenerative spine disease that requires surgical intervention. Currently, there is interest in minimally invasive surgery and various technical modifications of decompressive lumbar laminectomy without fusion. The purpose of this study was to present the author's surgical technique and results for decompression of spinal stenosis. Methods : The author performed surgery in 57 patients with lumbar spinal stenosis between 2006 and 2010. Data were gathered retrospectively via outpatient interviews and telephone questionnaires. The operation used in this study was named central decompressive laminoplasty (CDL), which allows thorough decompression of the lumbar spinal canal and proximal two foraminal nerve roots by undercutting the lamina and facet joint. Kyphotic prone positioning on elevated curvature of the frame or occasional use of an interlaminar spreader enables sufficient interlaminar working space. Pain was measured with a visual analogue scale (VAS). Surgical outcome was analyzed with the Oswestry Disability Index (ODI). Data were analyzed preoperatively and six months postoperatively. Results : The interlaminar window provided by this technique allowed for unhindered access to the central canal, lateral recess, and upper/lower foraminal zone, with near-total sparing of the facet joint. The VAS scores and ODI were significantly improved at six-month follow-up compared to preoperative levels (p<0.001, respectively). Excellent pain relief (>75% of initial VAS score) of back/buttock and leg was observed in 75.0% and 76.2% of patients, respectively. Conclusion : CDL is easily applied, allows good field visualization and decompression, maintains stability by sparing ligament and bony structures, and shows excellent early surgical results.

개인용 컴퓨터에서 재구성한 3차원 전산화단층영상의 두부계측 재현성 (Reproducibilities of cephalometric measurements of three-dimensional CT images reconstructed in the personal computer)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to report the reproducibility of intra-observer and inter-observer consistency of cephalometric measurements using three-dimensional (3D) computed tomography (CT), and the degree of difference of the cephalometric measurements. Materials and Methods: CT images of 16 adult patients with normal class I occlusion were sent to personal computer and reconstructed into 3D images using V-Works 3.5/sup TM/(Cybermed Inc., Seoul, Korea). With the internal program of V-Works 3.5/sup TM/, 12 landmarks on regular cephalograms were transformed into 21 analytic categories and measured by 2 observers and in addition, one of the observers repeated their measurements. Intra-observer difference was calculated using paired t-test, and inter-observer by two sample test. Results: There were significant differences in the intra-observer measurements (p < 0.05) in four of the categories which included ANS-Me, ANS-PNS, Cdl-Go (Lt), GoL-GoR, but with the exception of Cdl-Go (Lt), ZmL-ZmR, Zyo-Zyo, the average differences were within 2 mm of each other. The inter-observer observations also showed significant differences in the measurements of the ZmL-ZmR and Zyo-Zyo categories (p < 0.05). With the exception of the Cdl-Me (Rt), ZmL-ZmR, Zyo-Zyo categories, the average differences between the two observers were within 2 mm, but the ZmL-ZmR and Zyo-Zyo values differed greatly with values of 8.10 and 19.8 mm respectively. Conclusion: In general, 3D CT images showed greater accuracy and reproducibility, with the exception of suture areas such as Zm and Zyo, than regular cephalograms in orthodontic measurements, showing differences of less than 2 mm, therefore 3D CT images can be useful in cephalometric measurements and treatment planning.

  • 배터리의 랜들 등가회로 모델은 기본적으로, 전달 저항 Rct, 전기 이중층 커패시턴스 Cdl, 내부저항 Ri, 그리고 개방회로전압 Voc의 4가지 파라미터로 구성 된다. 본 논문은 실험에 의해 리튬이온 배터리의 모델링을 위한 기본적 4가지 파라미터를 추출하고 운전조건에 따른 특성을 분석한다. 분석 결과를 이용하여 본 연구자에 의하여 제작된 전기 스쿠터의 SOC(State of Charge)를 추정하는 알고리즘을 제안한다.

공용데이터링크를 위한 공대지 채널 모델링 (Aeronautical to Ground Channel Modeling for Common Data Link)

  • 본 논문에서는 고속의 공용데이터링크(common data link, CDL)를 위한 새로운 채널 모델을 제안한다. 송신기의 고도가 수km ~ 수십km이고 통달거리가 수백km인 경우 지구 곡률에 의해 송신신호가 수신기의 앞 쪽에서 지면에 반사되어 들어오는 Two-ray 채널이 발생할 가능성이 크다. 송수신기의 빔포밍(beamforming) 각도와 안테나 방사 패턴(radiation pattern)에 따라 반사 경로로 들어오는 신호의 최대 지연 시간(maximum delay)과 전력 지연 프로파일(power delay profile)을 추정하여 Two-ray 채널을 모델링한다. 제안하는 채널 모델에서는 통달거리가 길기 때문에 전력 지연 프로파일이 최대 지연 시간보다 신호 대 잡음비(signal to noise ratio, SNR)에 대한 비트 오류율(bit error rate, BER)에 더 큰 영향을 미친다.

X-ray Response Characteristic of Zn in the Polycrystalline Cd1-xZnxTe Detector for Digital Radiography

  • The Cdl-xZnxTe film was fabricated by thermal evaporation for the flat-panel X-ray detector. The stoichimetric ratio and the crystal structure of a polycrystalline Cd$_{1-x}$ Zn$_{x}$Te were investigated by EPMA and XRD, respectively. The leakage current and X-ray sensitivity of the fabricated films were measured to analyze the X-ray response characteristic of Zn in the polycrystalline CdZnTe thin film. The leakage current and the output charge density of Cd$_{0.7}$Zn$_{0.3}$Te thin film were measured to 0.37 nA/cm$^2$ and 260 pc/cm$^2$ at an applied voltage of 2.5 V/${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$, respectively. Experimental results showed that the increase of Zn doping rates in Cd$_{1-x}$ Zn$_{x}$Te detectors reduced the leakage current and improved the signal to noise ratio significantly.

Multiplex Polymerase Chain Reaction Assay for Simultaneous Detection of Candida albicans and Candida dublinensis

  • A multiplex polymerase chain reaction (PCR) assay was developed for the identification of two Candida species-albicans and dubliniensis. Three sets of primers were selected from different genomic sequences to specifically amplify a 516 bp fragment within the tops gene, specific for several species of the genus Candida (CCL primers); a 239 bp fragment within the $\alpha$INT1 gene, specific for Candida albicans (CAL primers); and a 175 bp fragment within the ALSD1 gene, specific for Candida dubliniensis (CDL primers). Using the primers in conjunction (multiplex PCR), we were able to detect both C. albicans and C. dubliniensis and to differentiate between them. The detection limit of the PCR assay was approximately 10 cells per milliliter of saline. Thus, this multiplex PCR assay can be applied for differentiation of C. albicans and C. dubliniensis from clinical specimens.

Effect of Poling Electric Field and Temperature Change on the Dielectric Anomalies of Relaxor Ferroelectric Strontium-Barium-Niobate Single Crystals

  • The dielectric properties of the uniaxial relaxor ferroelectric $Sr_xBa_{1-x}Nb_2O_6$ with x = 0.75 were investigated along the polar [001] direction as a function of temperature. The capacitance maximum showed the frequency dispersion commonly observed in relaxors. Additional weak dielectric anomalies were observed in the paraelectric phase; they were only seen during the heating process and disappeared upon subsequent cooling. These were attributed to the existence of large polar clusters strongly pinned at defects and/or to random fields and their metastable characters. Aligning the ferroelectric domains along the polar axis at room temperature removed the high-temperature dielectric anomalies. The dependences of the capacitance and the dielectric maximum temperature on the magnitude of the poling field were investigated.

카드뮴-113 NMR을 이용한 폴리아크릴산의 카드뮴(Ⅱ) 이온에 대한 결합자리의 특성연구 (Characterization of the Nature of Cd(II) Ion Binding Sites on Poly(acrylic acid) Using$^{113}Cd$NMR)

  • 카드뮴-113 NMR을 이용하여 수용액속에서 카드뮴 이온과 유기산(아세트산, 벤조산 및 프로판산)과의 결합 특성을 알아보았고 여기서 얻어진 결과를 폴리아크릴산(PAA)의 결합자리의 특성연구에 응용하였다. 유기산에 결합된 카드뮴 화합물의 카드뮴-113 NMR 화학적이동 결과 분석으로부터, $CDL^+$$CDL_2$(L:카르복실기) 화학종에 해당하는 화학적이동값은 각각 -22에서 -24ppm과 -39에서 -40ppm의 범위를 나타냈다. 카드뮴과 폴리아크릴산 화합물에서는 폴리아크릴산 대 카드뮴의 농도비를 12에서 118eq/mol로 증가시킬 때 화학적 이동값이 -36.6ppm에서 -38.2ppm으로 변하였다. 또한, 폴리아크릴산 대 카드뮴의 농도비를 고정시키고 ([PAA]/[Cd] = 39ep/mol) 용액의 pH를 1에서 6까지 변화시킬 때 화학적이동값은 1.6ppm에서 -37.6ppm으로 변하였다. 이 결과는 폴리아크릴산 대 카드뮴의 농도비 변화 실험에서 주화학종은 1:2 착물($CdL_2$)이고 농도비가 증가하면 1:2 착물형성도 증가하는 것을 보여준다.또한, 낮은 pH에서는 1:1착물($CdL^+$)이 우세하고 pH가 증가하면서 1:2 착물($CdL_2$)이 증가한다는 것을 알 수 있었다.

능동 학습과 시간 문맥 정보를 이용한 작물 재배지역 분류 (Classification of Crop Cultivation Areas Using Active Learning and Temporal Contextual Information)

  • 이 논문에서는 작물 재배지의 분류를 목적으로 능동 학습과 과거 토지 피복도 기반의 시간 문맥 정보를 결합하는 분류 방법론을 제안하였다. 신뢰성 높은 훈련 자료의 추출을 위하여 능동 학습 기반 반복 분류를 적용하였으며, 과거 토지 피복도의 작물 재배 규칙을 시간 문맥 정보로 정량화 하여 능동 학습 기법의 적용시 훈련 자료의 할당과 작물 간 분광학적 혼재 효과 완화에 이용하였다. 제안 분류 방법론의 적용 가능성을 평가하기 위해 미국 Illinois 주의 옥수수와 콩 재배지역의 구분을 목적으로 MODIS 시계열 식생지수 자료와 과거 cropland data layer(CDL) 자료를 이용한 사례연구를 수행하였다. 사례연구 결과, 초기 감독 분류 결과에서 나타났던 옥수수와 콩의 오분류와 기타 작물과 비작물의 오분류 양상이 능동 학습 기반 반복 분류를 통해 완화되었다. 그리고 CDL 자료로부터 추출한 시간 문맥 정보를 추가적으로 결합함으로써 주요 작물에서 나타나는 과추정 양상이 완화되어 가장 우수한 분류 정확도를 나타내었다. 따라서 제안 기법이 양질의 훈련 자료의 확보가 쉽지 않은 작물 재배지의 분류에 유용하게 적용될 수 있음을 확인하였다.
