  • A digital CDI(Capacitive Discharge Ignition) system on small two stroke motorcycle engine was developed in this paper, This CDI system with microprocessor as its main part has more flexible spark timing than the conventional CDI system because of its programmable characteristics. The principle of this digital CDI system and the design methods of hardware and software were presented in this paper, Two stroke small engine was tested to investigate the performance of digital CDI system And also this system was investigated to optimize the engine performance. Also comparison between conventional CDI can provide better spark timing variation than the conventional system. The part and full load test results show that the engine power was increased about 10-20% and fuel consumption was decreased about 10-20% simultaneously. Furthermore, this digital CDI system has simple structure, low cost and very little modification are required. It is a promising technology to substitute for the widely used conventional CDI system.

  • Capacitive deionization(CDI) is an ion removal technology that employs the basic electrochemical principle of absorbing ions in high surface area electrode. CDI technology reduce power consumption because it operates at lower electrode potential(about 1~2 V). Also, it is an environmentally friendly technology because no acid, base, or salts are required to generate the surface. In this study, we searched the patents and papers to investigate the trend of CDI technologies. Database was collected from WIPS and Scopus site and was investigated according to electrode, module and application technology of CDI. The technology trend of CDI was analyzed based on patent application year, countries, main applications and technologies.

  • In this study, an anion-exchange ionomer solution was developed by employing poly(2,6-dimethyl-1,4-phenylene oxide) (PPO) as the base material for the improvement of the capacitive deionization (CDI) performances. It was found that prepared quaternized PPO (QPPO) exhibited excellent ion conductivity superior to that of a commercial anion-exchange membrane (AMX, Astom Corp., Japan) and also the electrochemical properties were shown to be comparable with each other. The CDI tests were conducted by employing the porous carbon electrode coated with the ionomer solution and the result showed the high salt removal efficiency of about 94.9%. By comparing the desalination efficiencies in conventional CDI, membrane CDI (MCDI) with a commercial anion-exchange membrane, and coated CDI (CCDI) employing the porous carbon electrode coated with QPPO, it was confirmed that CCDI shows the high salt removal performance improved by 52.1% and 18.3% compared with those of conventional CDI and MCDI, respectively.

  • Purpose: Studies in adults have shown an increasing incidence of Clostridioides difficile infection (CDI) in patients hospitalized with acute pancreatitis (AP). There is lack of epidemiological data on CDI and its impact on hospitalized pediatric patients with AP. Methods: We analyzed the National Inpatient Sample and Kids' Inpatient Database between the years 2003 and 2016 and included all patients (age <21 years) with a primary diagnosis of AP using specific International Classification of Diseases codes. We compared clinical outcomes between children with CDI and those without CDI. Our primary outcome was severe AP and secondary outcomes included length of stay and hospital charges. Results: A total of 123,240 hospitalizations related to AP were analyzed and CDI was noted in 0.6% of the hospital. The prevalence rate of CDI doubled from 0.4% (2003) to 0.8% (2016), p=0.03. AP patients with CDI had increased comorbidities, and also underwent more invasive surgical procedures, p<0.05. AP patients with CDI had a higher in-hospital mortality rate and increased prevalence of severe AP, p<0.001. Multivariate regression models showed that CDI was associated with 2.4 times (confidence interval [CI]: 1.91 to 3.01, p<0.001) increased odds of severe AP. CDI patients had 7.24 (CI: 6.81 to 7.67, p<0.001) additional hospital days while incurring $59,032 (CI: 54,050 to 64,014, p<0.001) additional hospitalization charges. Conclusion: CDI in pediatric patients with AP is associated with adverse clinical outcomes and increased healthcare resource utilization. Further studies are needed to elucidate this association to prevent the development of CDI and to improve outcomes.

  • We have analysed the use and organization of space in the Centres des Documentations et de Informations(CDI) in lycees in France with the equivalent information centres. The majority of CDI are located in close proximity to the Academic staff and provide easy student access. The CDI provide not only books but also reviews, magazines and CD-Rom. This information is very important to pupils both in the pursuit of their higher studies and also with their future professional life as there is also careers information available to be discussed regularly with the careers advisor. The function of the CDI is not only to provide information. As part of the curriculum there are classes on how to access the information available in the CDI as well as Seminars and Audio-Visual courses. This management makes it possible for the CDI to operate, not only as a school library but also as a multi-function centre of documentation and information; a variety of spaces are also available: a room for private/small group study. A computer room (as well as a research corner), a reading room, monthly review room, photocopy room, rest room, exhibition room, careers information room, audio visual room etc. The results of this study can be used as essential information during the space planning of Korean school libraries in the future.

  • Catechol 1,2-dioxygenase $I_1$ ($CDI_1$) is the first enzyme of the $\beta$-ketoadipate pathway in Acinetobacter lowffii K24. $CDI_1$ has two cysteines (155, 202) and its enzyme activity is inhibited by the cysteine inhibitor, $AgNO_3$. Two mutants, $CDI_1$ C155V and $CDI_1$ C202V, were obtained by site-directed mutagenesis. The two mutants were overexpressed and the mutated amino acid residues (Cys$\rightarrow$Val) were characterized by peptide mapping and amino acid sequencing. Interestingly, $CDI_1$ C155V was inhibited by $AgNO_3$, whereas $CDI_1$ C202V was not inhibited. This suggests that $Cys^{202}$ is the sole inhibition site by $AgNO_3$ and is close to the active site of the enzyme. However, the results of the biochemical assay of mutated $CDI_1s$ suggest that the two cysteines are not directly involved in the activity of the catechol 1,2-dioxygenase of $CDI_1$.

  • Explosives demolition mothod is allowed for more efficient time-saving and safer demolitioni operations as compared to conventional / mechanical demolition methods. CDI has to minimize the effects of noise, dust and various demolition hazards to the public areas, and residences that are located adjacent to the project site. CDI's explosives demolition work on the Nam san Foreigner's Apartment Complex and chosun trading Co's factory are backed by over 45 years of explosives experience in the demolition of over 6,000 structures worldwide, many of these structures are similar to the Nam san Foreigner's Apt. and Chosun trading's factory in construction and proximity to sensitive adjacent exposures. Recoginized worldwide as the founder of the leader in explosives demolitioni technology, CDI always will applied "State-of-the-Art" explosives techniques to safely and successfully achieve the desired demolition results on these project. CDI has never injured, much less caused any fatality, to either a worker on one of our sites or to a third party during the implosion of high-rise structure.

  • Porous-composite electrodes have been developed using silica gel, which reduce carbon aerogel usage with high cost. Silica gel powder was added to the carbon aerogel to simplify the manufacturing procedure and to increase the wet-ability, the mechanical strength and the CDI efficiency. Porous composite electrodes composed of carbon aerogel and silica gel powder were prepared by paste rolling method. Carbon aerosol composite electrodes with $10\times10cm^2$ are placed face to face between spacers, and assembled the four-stage series cells for CDI process. Each stage is composed of 45 cells. Four-stage series cells (flow through cells) for CDI process are put in continuous-system reactor containing 1,000ml-NaCl solution bath of 1,000 ppm. The four-stage series cells with carbon aerogel electrodes are charged at 1.2V and are discharged at 0.001V, and then read the current. Conclusively, removal efficiencies of ions using the four-stage series cells composed of carbon aerogel composite electrodes show good removal efficiency of $99\%$ respectively.

  • This paper proposes a new circuit for the CDI system to have a constant ignition power at the engine speed range of 500 to 7500 rpm and the battery voltage range of 12 to 16 volts in the 4-cylinder automobile. The proposed CDI system has a closed-loop with a PWM DC-DC converter controlled by the error signal between capacitor voltage and reference voltage. In order to decrease the capacitor charging time, the primary winding of ignition coil is made to be shorted during capacitor charging. An experimental suystem is fabricated and the results obtained thereof are found to be satisfactory.
