  • 본고는 아직 우리들에게 생소한 분야인 CD-ROM(Compact Disk-Read Only Memory)이라고 하는 정보매체가 어떻게 Audio CD에서 발전하여 컴퓨터의 Data Storage의 매체로 탄생되었는지에 대해 다음과 같은 내용을 해설하였다. 첫째는 매체로서의 잇점과 그것을 정보전달매체로서 이용하였을 때의 특징에 대하여 기술하였으며 둘째는 실제로 CD-ROM을 사용한 시스팀으로서는 어떠한 형태로 되는가,Application을 염두에 두고 생각한다. 셋째는 데이터의 가공에서 디스크의 제작에 이르기까지의 과정에 대하여 기술하였으며 끝으로 장래의 전망과 문제점에 대하여 간단히 기술하였다.

  • The present study is aimed at the comparative evaluation of several CD-ROM MEDLINE versions for biomedical information retrieval and searching. The CD-ROM MEDLINE has recently been introduced in Korea and is actively using for health and medical professionals as an effective delivery tool of biomedical information. And this evaluative study revealed some different advantages and disadvantages in searching information among several CD-ROM MEDLINE versions. The present study also provides some findings of CD-ROM user's information seeking behaviors.

The Effects of Instruction Material Using ICT at Elementary School Science (초등학교 과학 수업에서 ICT 활용 수업자료의 효과)

  • This study investigated the effects of the application of a variety of ICT (Information communication Technology) cause the effects on self-directed learning characteristics, creativity and science achievement. In order to achieve the above aim, WBI (Web-Based Instructions), instructions using CD-ROM Titles and Instruction Module Using ICT for the unit were applied and analyzed which belongs to the area of 'the earth' in the subject 'science' for Elementary school students. Instructions using WBI materials, CD-ROM titles and Instruction Module Using ICT were found to be effective on 'science achievement', 'self-directed learning characteristics' and 'creativity'. They show meaningful effect on improving 'science achievement', 'self-directed learning characteristics' and 'creativity'. WBI proved more fruitful than instruction using CO-ROM titles, Instruction Module Using ICT on improving self-directed learning characteristics. Instruction Module Using ICT proved more fruitful than instruction using CD-ROM title, WBI on improving creativity.

  • With regard to system configuration, file structure and function, this study has compared and analyzed KITLAS developed by KIT Library and CD-ROM BiblioFile, which is selected among CD-ROM Catalog Production Products, the mass storage media, produced by the fast-growing laser technology and information technology. Furthurmore, this study illuminates how to improve the reliability of bibliographic database, implementing downloading and uploading processes which make possible the conversion and online, mass transmission of CD-ROM MARC records at once.

  • CD-ROM에서 생성되는 소음은 구조소음과 공력소음의 분포비율을 생각해 볼 때 하드디스크 등의 경우와는 다소 다른 특성이 있는데, 구조적으로 차폐나 디스크의 크기 및 회전속도 등의 차이로 인해 공력소음의 비중이 매우 커진 점을 들 수 있다. 공기역학적으로 생성되는 소음은 구조소음의 경우와는 다르게 에너지 분포가 주기성을 찾아보기 어려우며 널은 주파수 대역에 고루 분포하는 특징이 있다.(중략)

Vibration Control of CD-ROM Feeding System Using ER Fluids (ER 유체를 이용한 CD-ROM 피딩 시스템의 진동 제어)

  • This paper presents vibration control of a drive feeding system consisting of a new type of CD-ROM(compact discread only memory) mount using electro-rheologocal(ER) fluid. Chemically treated starch particles and silicon oil are used for ER fluid. and its field-dependent yield stresses are experimentally distilled under both the shear and the flow modes. On the basis of the yield stress, an appropriate size of ER CD-ROM mount adapted to conventional feeding system is designed and manufactured. Vibration isolation performance of the proposed mount is evaluated in the frequency domain and compared with that of conventional rubber mount. The ER CD-ROM mount is then installed to the drive feeding system and the system equation of motion is derived. Following the formulating the sky-hook controller, computer simulation is undertaken in order to evaluate vibration suppression of the feeding system subjected to various disturbances(excitations).

  • CD-ROM technique, not more than 10 years after development, goes through rapid growth, has been taken advantage of several practical application parts. Needless to say about bibliographic data, numeric value, the phonetics, an image and a picture data that are recorded as abstract or full text, and offered and applied to industry, information service including library, it can be used for library staffs, information retrieval. Escape from the need of one disc drive and one computer to access one disc, now we organize an ideal system that can be retrieved several CD-ROM used only one drive, several users can access several information, so networking is possible through LAN. In this article, we studied the function and type, characteristics, system, structure, data block, production procedure, standardization of CD-ROM LAN.

Fabrication and studies on the properties of a spinning-disk confocal microscope (회전원판식 공초점 현미경의 구성과 광학특성)

  • In this paper, the result of a performance study on a home-built spinning disk type confocal microscope is presented. The confocal microscope was fabricated with a Nipkow disk made of the made of the microfilm. The throughput of the disk was 0.5%, allowing the observation of specimen with higher reflectivities only. A laser diode at 692.7nm was used as the light source. The topographic structures of a PC ROM and the CD ROM were observed with sufficient reliability, while the effect of the convolution of the beam size with the finite object size was found dominant. Also the shadowing effect by the etched pattern was observed.

A Study on the Characteristic of Driving Sound Noise for Various Optical Disk Drives (광디스크 드라이브의 종류별 구동소음 특성에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, experimental tests for driving noise of various optical disk drives (ODD) have been performed using 1/2' microphone noise measurement system. Several new and old ODD models by different manufacturers are practically considered and compared far realistic driving conditions. Sound insulation case with absorbing material fur the present experimental tests is designed and constructed using CATIA system. It is found that average data transfer rate, operating RPM, and sound noise level seems to be different for the same opposed speed ODD by different manufacturers. Moreover, driving sound noise level can be largely affected by both tray shape and driving speed even for the same apparent data transfer rate.
