This paper presents how to design and implement a very compact, cost effective and broad band receiver module for IEEE 802.16 FWA(Fixed Wireless Access) in the 40 GHz band. The presented receiver module is fabricated in a multi-layer LTCC(Low Temperature Cofired Ceramic) technology with cavity process to achieve excellent electrical performances. The receiver consists of two MMICs, low noise amplifier and sub-harmonic mixer, an embedded image rejection filter and an IF amplifier. CB-CPW, stripline, several bond wires and various transitions to connect each element are optimally designed to keep transmission loss low and module compact in size. The LTCC is composed of 6 layers of Dupont DP-943 with relative permittivity of 7.1. The thickness of each layer is 100 um. The implemented module is $20{\times}7.5{\times}1.5\;mm^3$ in size and shows an overall noise figure of 4.8 dB, an overall down conversion gain of 19.83 dB, input P1 dB of -22.8 dBm and image rejection value of 36.6 dBc. Furthermore, experimental results demonstrate that the receiver module is suitable for detection of Digital TV signal transmitted after up-conversion of $560\~590\;MHz$ band to 40 GHz.
To develope the enhanced bacterial strains capable of biodegradation for various chlorinated aromatic compounds, 100 bacterial strains were isolated from soil samples of suburbs of Taejon, Cheongju, and Jeonju by the enrichment culture. These strains can degrade pentachlorophenol (PCP) which is a kind of wood preservatives. Nineteen strains of the isolates were selected by fast colony-forming rate on solid minimal media containing PCP as an only source of carbon and energy. These strains were identified to genus level. Fifteen strains were identified as Pseudomonas, 1 strain as Acinetobacter and 3 strains were not. Genus Alcaligenes strains were not found among them. Pseudomonas sp. MU135. MU139, MU163 and MU 184 were able to degrade for 4 kinds of chlorinated compounds, PCP, 2,4-D, MCPA and 3CB. Pseudomonas sp. If was observed that MU139 exhibits the highest degradability in liquid minimal media at 72 hours after inoculation. Pseudomoans sp. MU147, MU177, MU184 and MU192 also degraded the compounds at higher rates. As the results, Pseudomonas sp. MU139 and unidentified strain MU184 had biodegrability for broad range of chlorinated compounds and higher rates of degradation for PCP.

Old growth and protected-trees are worth history and culturally in Korea. This research carried out to investigate habitat characterization and the vegetative propagation methods of Salix chaenomeloides(100-600 years old trees) in Gyeongsangnamdo Province. It has been preserved in good and grow naturally in area surrounding village(4 trees), riverside(1 tree) and field(1 tree). Cutting from old growth and protected trees was conducted using 10 kinds of bedsoils. It was survived above 93% in all bedsoils. Growth of cuttings is a distinct difference according to bedsoils and tree ages. Growth of cutting was high on CBS, followed mixed bedsoils(VPMP) including vermiculite, peatmoss and perlite. Root collar diameter was difference depend on tree ages and bedsoils. All trees are produced 1 to 4 branch. Root growth of cutting was 20 cm on CBS and VPMP, which is the best shoot growing on cutting. Bedsoil with physico-chemical characteristics of high moisturizing ability, high air permeability, high EC value and slightly acid may be suitable for efficiently cutting propagation of old growth and protected S. chaenomeloides. CBS and VPMP bedsoil are favorable for propagating this species by cuttings.

In the strawberry cultivation areas and domestic farms, two-spotted spider mites are the most serious pests. It decreases the product yield due to the direct feeding of chlorophyll by the mites resulting in reduced photosynthetic ability of host plant. In this study, a simplified acaricidal effect evaluation system (SAEES) was employed to choose the effective acaricidal products among 10 items based on leaf-dipping bioassay methods. SAEES had the advantage of being able to screen four commercial products with three replications at the same time in the recommended concentration. The susceptible strains (SL_YS) showed a high mortality rate of about 90-100%, whereas the mortality of local strains was differed by each acaricides. It suggests that the acaricide responses of field populations might differ due to spray frequencies and acaricide product. An efficacy index (0.8-1.0) was determined based on the mortality of susceptible strain, which would allow the most effective commercial products to be selected by the range of this index. In summary, SAEES will enable the selection of effective commercial products and contribute to increasing control against T. urticae in strawberries.
Four Trichoderma strains (CH2, SH16, PQ34, and TN42) were isolated from soil samples collected from Quang Tri and Thua Thien Hue provinces in Vietnam. The strains exhibited high chitinolytic secretion. Strain PQ34 formed the largest zone of chitinase-mediated clearance (> 4 cm in diameter) in agar containing 1% (w/v) colloidal chitin. Analysis of the internal transcribed spacer regions of these strains indicated that they were Trichoderma asperellum. The molecular weights of the chitinases were approximately 42 kDa. Chitinase genes (chi42) of T. asperellum strains TN42, CH2, SH16, and PQ34 were 98~99% homologous to the ech42 gene of T. harzianum CB-Pin-01 (accession No. DQ166036). The deduced amino acid sequences of both T. asperellum strains SH16 and TN42 shared 100% similarity.

The purpose of this study was to correlate between photoelectrochemcial hydrogen production rate and electron transfer with various types of metal doped $TiO_2$ nanotubes as photoanodes. In order to fabricate light sensitized photoanode, CdS, $WO_3$, and Pt were doped by electrodeposition method. As the results of experiments, the electron transfer was favorable from higher position to lower position of conduction band (CB). In consequence, the higher hydrogen production rate was as follows, CdS/$TiO_2$ (100 $umol/hr-cm^2$) > $WO_3/TiO_2$ (20 $umol/hr-cm^2$) > Pt/$TiO_2$ (10 $umol/hr-cm^2$). The surface characterizations exhibited that crystal structure, morphological and electrical properties of various metal depoed $TiO_2$ nanotubes by the results of SEM, TEM, XPS, and photocurrent measurements.

In this paper, a system which can compress and reconstruct the digital image was implemented using 2 dimensional DWT(Discrete Wavelet Transform). The proposed system consists of the FPGA board tocompress the image and the application software(S/W) to reconstruct it. First the FPGA receives the image from AID converter and compresses the image using wavelet transform. The compressed data is transferred into the PC using the PCI interface. The compressed image is reconstructed by an application S/W inside the PC. The image compressor can compress about 60 fields per second, in which the image format was NTSC YCbCr(4:2:2) and the image size was 640${\times}$240 pixels per field. The designed hardware mapped into one FPGA occupying 11,120 LAB (Logic Array Block) and 27,456 ESB(Embedded System Block) in APEX20KC EP20K1000B652-7. It globally uses 33MHz clock and the memory control part uses 100MHz.
YBa$_2Cu_3O_{7-{\delta}}$ (YBCO) films grown on CeO$_2$-buffered r-cut sapphire substrates (CbS's) were prepared and their structural and electrical properties were measured. Post-annealed CeO$_2$ films were used as buffer layers for the experiments. It turned out that the YBCO films grown on post-annealed CbS's had the rms roughness of less than 20 ${\AA}$ and peak-to-peak roughness of about 30 ${\AA}$ when the YBCO film thickness was 3000 ${\AA}$. Meanwhile, YBCO films on in-situ grown CeO$_2$ buffer layers on r-cut sapphire substrates appeared to have the peak-to-peak roughness of more than 450 ${\AA}$. X-ray diffraction data revealed that the YBCO flms were epitaxially grown along the c-axis with the typical FWHM of(005) ${\theta}$ -2 ${\theta}$ peak about 0. 16 $^{\circ}$ and ${\Delta}$${\omega}$ of the (005) peak about 0.5 $^{\circ}$. T$_c$ > 87 K, ${\Delta}$T < 1 K and R(look)/R(100K) ${\ge}$3 were observed from the YBCO films. Applicability of the YBCO films for high-frequency applications was described.

Two hundred and ninety-five strains of Peudomonas aeruginosa isolated from clinical sources were tested for drug resistance and demonstration of R plasmids by intraspecies conjugation system. Sixty strains were found highly resistant to two or more of drugs. The rate of resistant strains were 38.9% to kanamycin(km), 33.2% to streptomydn(sm), 22.7% to sulfisomidine(Sa), 14.2% to chloramphenicol(Cp), 13.8% to tetracycline(Tc), 3.0% to carbenicillin(Cb), and to gentamicin(Gm), respectively. But no strains was resistant to nalidixic acid and colistine. They were resistant to per milliliter to more than $400{\mu}g$ per ml. of Tc, $800{\mu}g$ per ml of Cp and of Sm, $6,400{\mu}g$ per ml. of Sa, $200{\mu}g$ per ml. of Cb, $100{\mu}g$ per ml. of Gm, and $25{\mu}g$ per ml. of colistine. Forty-three strains of Pseudomonas aeruginosa could be transferred their resistance to Pseudomonas aeruginosa 2-70, 1005 rifampin resistant FP-auxotrophic mutant. Of sixty multiple resistant strains, forty-three(71.6%) demonstrated R plasmids; nineteen carried resistance to(Tc Cp Sm Sa), six to(Tc Cp Sm), three to(Tc Cp Sa), and Cp, five to(Tc Sm Sa), two to(Tc Sa), (Cp Sm) and Tc, and one to(Cp Sm Sa). Degree of resistance of recipients recieving R plasmids from donors were almost the same level of resistance as the donor in regardless of mating temperature at $25^{\circ}C$ and $37^{\circ}C$. Resistance to Tc, Sm, and Sa were transferred to a very few of recipient cells at five minutes after mating with donor and recipient cells but resistance to Cp were transferred to the majority of recipient cells. The transfer frequency of Tc, Cp, Sm, and Sa resistance from donors to recipients were from $1.0^{-1.4}\;to\;1.0^{-3.5}$ at $25^{\circ}C$ for 18 hours of incubation and were from $1.0^{-1.5}\;to\;1.0^{-3.5}$ at $37^{\circ}C$ for 18 hours of incubation.
