In this paper we introduce the network based multi-motors control system using CAN(Controller Area Network) The traditional multi-motors control system has many problems in the view of reliability and economy because of the amount and complexity of wiring noise and maintenance problems etc, These problems are serious especially when the motor controllers are separated widely CAN is generally applied in car networking in order to reduce the complexity of the related wiring harnesses. These traditional CAN application techniques are modified to achieve the real time communication for the multi-motor control system. And also the position synchronization technique is developed and the proposed methods are verified experimentally.
In this paper, the design of the network system using the CAN and the analysis of effects of time delay in the system are presented. A conventional implementation technique induces many problems because of the amount and complexity of wiring and maintenance problems. The network system reduces these problems, but it cause another problem; time delay. Time delay in a sampling time does not have much effects on the system, but time delay over the sampling time changes the control frequency and ended up makes the system unstable. It is verified that time delay between each parts has different effects on the entire system. The results from this paper will be a base for studying algorithms to reduce effects of time delay in the system using the CAN.

In this paper, an idea of a network type distributed control of a system with inner loop control structure will be considered. Generally, in case of a control system with inner loop control structure, it is not easy to implement circuits and programming. Using network type distributed control structure, it will show how it is better than before. CAN(Controller Area Network) protocol which has been known that it has a high reliability on the signal in the various network protocols is used. Also, Arago's Disk System which has a inner loop control stucture is made to validate effectiveness of the proposed method.
This paper presents a neural network method for tuning PlD controller of a time-varying process. Three gains of PlD controller are tuned for a certain desirable response pattern by back-propagation neural network. The neural network is trained using changes of output features vs. changes of PlD gains. But sometimes it needs longer training time and larger structure to train the correlation between the process and controller on entire region of the process. The difficulty in system identification is that the inverse function of the system can not be clearly stated. To cope with the problem, we do not train the neural network to respond correctly for the entire regions but train for only local region where the system is heading toward by training the neural network and tuning of the PlD controller. It may be trained for fine-tuning itself. Simulation results show that the adaptive PID controller using neural network trained in the local area performs remarkably for time-varying second order process.

The CAN (Controller Area Network) system is the most dominant protocol for in-vehicle networking system because it provides bounded transmission delay among ECUs (Electronic Control Units) at data rates between 125Kbps and 1Mbps. And, many automotive companies have chosen the CAN protocol for their in-vehicle networking system such as chassis network system because of its excellent communication characteristics. However, the increasing number of ECUs and the need for more intelligent functions such as ADASs (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) or IVISs (In-Vehicle Information Systems) require a network with more network capacity and the real-time QoS (Quality-of-Service). As one approach to enhancing the network capacity of a CAN system, this paper introduces a CAN system with dual communication channel. And, this paper presents a distributed message allocation method that allocates messages to the more appropriate channel using forecast traffic of each channel. Finally, an experimental testbed using commercial off-the-shelf microcontrollers with two CAN protocol controllers was used to demonstrate the feasibility of the CAN system with dual communication channel using the distributed message allocation method.

This paper describes a development of the integrated controller system for car electrical signal and sensor input/output control with CAN communication protocol. In order to improve the system reliability and effectiveness for the conventional controller using the wiring harness, a detailed integrated control system is introduced and discussed. The CAN communication protocol is a robust control method with serial bus system for the control of distributed module in the multiplexed network. Therefore, this has high reliability and flexibility in the overall control system implementation. This paper proposes an integrated system with high reliability and stability for control of various car signal, and evaluates the effectiveness of the system using the actual implementation. For these purposes, after a brief of the main features of the CAN will be addressed, this paper presents the result of development of the integrated hardware system and overall control program.

The growing number of electronic components used in automobiles has given rise to problems concerning the increasing number, size and weight of the wiring harnesses. As an approach to resolve these problems, multiplexed wiring systems using automotive communication protocol such as Controller Area Network(CAN), Advanced PALMNET and J1850 have been developed by many automobile companies. In order to compare these protocols quantitatively, this paper presents the performance evaluation of CAN and Advanced PALMNET via discrete event simulation. Through numerous simulation experiments, several important quantitative performance factors such as the probability of a transmission failure, average system delay(data latency), and throughput have been evaluated.

Recently, various industrial embedded systems including vehicles controlled electronically are evolving to distributed multi-micro controller system. Accordingly, there is a need for standard CAN(Controller Area Network) protocol that ensures high stability and reliability of communication and is simple to construct object-oriented system with high control efficiency. CAN communication interface used general-purpose processor doesn't have many limitations in various application development because of fixed hardware architecture. This paper design and implement a CAN communication interface system based on FPGA. It is verified function and performance of system through monitoring communication with existing AT90CAN128 controller. Implemented CAN communication interface can be reused in development of application systems based on FPGA. And it provides low-cost, small-size and low-power design advantages.

As a way to build more efficient and intelligent container cranes for todays hub ports, communication networks are used to interconnect numerous sensors, actuators, controllers, and operator switches and consoles that are spatially distributed over a crane. Various signals such as sensor values and operator's commands are digitized and broadcast on the network instead of using separate wiring cables. This not only makes the design and manufacturing of a crane more efficient, but also easier implementation of intelligent control algorithms. This paper presents the performance evaluation of CAN(Controller Area Network), TTP(Time Triggered Protocol) and Byteflight that can be used for cranes. Through discrete event simulation, several important quantitative performance factors such as the probability of a transmission failure, average system delay (data latency) and maximum system delay have been evaluated.

This paper presents supervisor control methods at a matrix converter controlled overhead crane system based on a controller area network (CAN). Four induction motors are used to drive the gantry, trolley, and hoist at he crane and each motor is controlled by the matrix converter with direct torque control (DTC). Both the position control algorithm and the supervisor control system using CAN are introduced. Simulation and experimental results are carried out to verify the performance of position control at the matrix converter controlled crane system.
