Computational finite element model updating tool for modal testing of structures

  • In this paper, the development of a new optimization software for finite element model updating of engineering structures titled as FemUP is described. The program is used for computational FEM model updating of structures depending on modal testing results. This paper deals with the FE model updating procedure carried out in FemUP. The theoretical exposition on FE model updating and optimization techniques is presented. The related issues including the objective function, constraint function, different residuals and possible parameters for FE model updating are investigated. The issues of updating process adopted in FemUP are discussed. The ideas of optimization to be used in FE model updating application are explained. The algorithm of Sequential Quadratic Programming (SQP) is explored which will be used to solve the optimization problem. The possibilities of the program are demonstrated with a three dimensional steel frame model. As a result of this study, it can be said that SQP algorithm is very effective in model updating procedure.

수문의 자동설계 시스템 개발에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Development of Automatic Drawing System for Water-gate)

  • The biggest challenge facing today manufacturing industry is better quality and high productivity. From an economic point of view, productivity is the most important parameter, as high productivity will reduce the cost. However, the customers of today are not only cost concerned, but also quality conscious. So high accuracy levels should also be achieved in the manufacturing process. This paper reports the development of a automatic design system based on AutoCAD program. This work is composed of three section that are design of top down menu, guide frame and gate lifter for water-gate programed by AutoLISP language and runned Windows system. The developed system ultimately generates the design for a water gate through AutoCAD program. In the design of the water gate, it needs about 23 hours with an expert, but this system can be only 80 seconds without an expert.

  • This study is aimed to be helpful a developing process for Apparel design and to investigate Idea abduction for Apparel Design which applied to the Morphological Method one of the Methods of Creativity which the creative technologists studied. The result of this study were as follows : 1. The Morphological Method which is one of the Methods of Creativity could be applied to Idea abduction for Apparel Design by CAD system. 2. This study developed a program for CAD system which could use the design process for Apparel Design applied to the Morphological Method 3. In the consequence of the program which could use the design developing process of Morphological Method, and trying to test with the selection of the essential variables about Jacket, Skirt, One-piece, Blouse, it is found that many design for Apparel Design could be producted in a short time, so that the conclusion have been made as a result that the Method could be a great help to design a variable sillouette for Apparel Design.

  • In this paper, the CAD program for designing the microwave waveguide narrow-band bandpass filters has been developed by the passband correction method with filter synthesis for the MDR(Microwave Digital Relay) system. Here, the modified double E-plane structures are employed in the filter structure which is analyzed by the variational method. Using the developed CAD program, 0.01dB equi-ripple chebyshev type 6-section bandpass filters used in the MDR system operating nationally is designed at the center frequency of 11.0GHz, fabricated with tunable type and then measured by tuning process. The experimantal results show good agreements with the theoretical results.

  • In this paper, the variational method are used for the filter analysis methods and a CAD program for the design of the waveguide low-loss bandpass filters using inductive window structures for the VSAT(Very Small Aperture Terminal) system has been developed based on the passband correction method combined with fiter synthesis procedures. Using the developed CAD program, 0.01dB equi-ripple chebyshev type 6-section bandpass filters which are sued in the VSAT system operating nationally are designed for the purpose of the Down-link of 12.75~13.25GHz and the Up-link of 14.0~14.5GHz, fabricated and mesured. The measured results are good agreement woth the theoretical resuls.

  • The design methodology of injection molding die has been changed from two-dimensional drafting to three-dimensional solid modeling, which is due to many advantages over the conventional methodology in terms of design modification and data associativity. In addition to the solid modeling capability, it is required for a mold designer to utilize a database management system that facilitates efficient mold design. In the paper presented is the implementation of a software program which automatically generates three-dimensional mold-bases including standard parts and slider parts, conforming to given geometric constraints. It is based on a commercial CAD system (Unigraphics NX) along with related API (application program interface) libraries. The research is expected to reduce design efforts and simplify construction of a complex three-dimensional mold-base model that is comprised of standard parts and slider parts, by use of the three-dimensional database and automatized geometric dimensioning.

  • SDAI (Standard Data Access Interface) is an interface specification of accessing various storage systems such as file systems and database management systems for STEP data. Using SDAI, both application program developers and CAD/CAM system developers can be relieved from dealing with STEP physical file or system dependent DBMS operations. In this paper, we present implementations of SDAI on different data models, i.e., relational, extended relational, and object-oriented. In order to implement SDAI, we need to translate the EXPRESS information model into target data models. The schema translation process for three different data models are compared and other implementation issues are discussed.

  • In general, free form design depends on B-spline which is used for the generating hull lines in most of shipyards. But, nowadays, the NURBS method is applied to free form modeling method, which is able to more flexible transformation than B-Spline, and then became industrial standard in the various field. Therefore, this method has been considerably applied in new application fields which are required free form modelling. In this paper, the program called 2DSURF with 5 modules and developed for the generation of hull lines is described. It is examined whether the program can be applied to body lines, sheer lines, and half breadth lines.

  • 건설업에서 물량 산출 자동화에 대한 연구는 많이 이루어졌다. 기존 수작업으로 물량값을 산출하는 것 보다 CAD 도면의 활용으로 좀더 신속하고 정확한 물량값을 산출하였다. CAD의 활용으로 물량 산출 자동화에 대한 연구와 견적 프로그램의 발전에 많은 영향을 주었다. 일반적으로 골조 공사에서 물량 산출은 견적프로그램을 이용 물량 산출 작업이 이루어진다. 그러나 골조 공사의 물량 산출 작업에서 각 부재별 경계조건(boundary condition)에 대한 물량 산출 방법론의 정립은 부족한 실정이다. 본 논문에서 골조 공사 물량 산출에서 콘크리트, 거푸집 각 부재별 물량 산출 방법을 정립하고자 한다. 각각의 부재별 경계조건(boundary condition)에서 각 부재별 조건에 맞는 물량 산출 방법론을 정립한다.
