  • System algorithms estimated by deterministic input may occur the error between predicted and actual output. Especially, actual system can't predict the exact outputs due to uncertainty and tolerance of input parameters. A single output to a set of inputs has a limited value without the variation. Hence, we should consider various scatters caused by the load assessment, material characteristics, stress analysis and manufacturing methods in order to perform the robust design or estimate the reliability of structure. The system design with uncertainty should perform the probabilistic structural optimization with the statistical response and the reliability. This method calculated the probability distributions of the characteristics such as stress by combining stress analysis, response surface methodology and Monte-Carlo Method and got the probabilistic sensitivity. The sensitivity of structural response with respect to inconstant design variables was estimated by fracture probability. Therefore, this paper proposed the probabilistic reliability design method for fracture of uncorved freight end beam and the design criteria by fracture probability.

Clinical convergence angle and rounding radius on tooth preparation for zirconia all-ceramic crown (지르코니아 전부도재관 지대치 삭제시 축면 경사각과 만곡 반경에 대한 조사)

  • Purpose: This article attempted to examine how teeth for restoration is made in a clinical practice and utilize it as future educational material of teeth formation and basic data for additional research. Materials and methods: This experiment investigated the models sent to milling center for production of zirconia crowns. After scanned with Lava CAD/CAM System (3M ESPE, Seefeld, Germany), they are measured on 'ImageJ (version 1.32j, National Institutes of Health, USA)' program and compared and analyzed. Convergence angle from mesio-distal surfaces and bucco-lingual surfaces of each teeth are measured. Also, bucco-lingual diameter of the region lowered as much as 0.4 mm from incisal edge in anterior teeth except canines.(This measure is defined as the Peak 0.4) The analysis of data between each group was conducted by Windows SPSS statistic program, and was proved significant on 95% confidence level by independent t-test, one-way ANOVA and multiple analysis (Sheff${\'{e}}$ test). Results: The mean value of convergence angle was $18.67^{\circ}$ It is ranked as molar ($26.70^{\circ}$) > premolar ($16.87^{\circ}$) > anterior teeth ($14.81^{\circ}$) in the order of mesio-distal convergence angle; anterior teeth ($22.32^{\circ}$) > molar ($20.93^{\circ}$) > premolar ($15.41^{\circ}$) in the order of bucco-lingual convergence angle. The mean value of Peak 0.4 was 1.18 mm. Conclusion: Convergence angle of abutment of zirconia all ceramic crown has difference depending on the location in the arch. Due to the nature of production of zirconia all ceramic crown, convergence angle of abutment and line angle finishing degree can have an effect on internal suitability of restoration.

NC 가공을 위한 곡면 모델링에 관한 연구

  • 자동차, 항공기, 선박등과 같은 산업제품과 전화기, TV브라운관과 같은 가전제품, 심미적 기능을 갖는 제품등과 같은 일상용품등은 많은 부분이 자유곡면(sculptured surface)으로 이루어져 있다. 이러한 해석적으로 정의 하기 어려운 제품 또는 그것을 생산하는데필요한 금형을 가공하는데 있어서 기존에는 석고 모형이나 목형을 이용한 모방 절삭을 하였다. 그러나 근래에는 자유곡면으로이루어진 제품을 설계하고 가공하는데 있어서 CAD/CAM system을 이용하고 있다. 제품의 곡면을 표현하거나 이들을 NC가공하기 위해서는 곡면을 나타내는 형상 정보가 필요 하고 이들 형상정보로 곡면모델링을 하여공구 경로를 구한다. 그러므로 이들 형상정보를 허용한도내에서 적절히 정하여 실제형상에 가까운 곡면을 형성하여야 한다. CAD/CAM 기술의 발달에 따라 다양한 형태의 곡면을 형성하는 기능을 가진 system이 많이 출현되었고 점토, 석고 또는 나무등으로 만든 physical model로 부터 얻어진 형상정보에 의해 surface fitting을 함으로서 자유곡면을 표현하는 방법이 많이 사용되고 있다. 어떠한 곡면을 표현할때는 곡면의 특성을 잘 표현하면서 전체적으로 smooth 한 것이 바람직하다. 그러므로 곡면의 형태를 설계자가 쉽게 이해할 수 있고 적은 수의 patch로도 복잡한 형상을 나타내야 하며 또한 국부적으로 수정이 용이하여야한다. 본 논문에서는 자유곡면을 나타낼 수 있는 수학적 표현 방법에 관하여 논하고, 해석적 곡면으로 부터 형상정보를 얻어 곡면 모델링을 한 후의 Ferguson곡면, UBS와 NUBS의 차이점을 분석하고, 이들 곡면과 해석적 곡면으로부터 얻은 실제곡면과의 오차를 측정하여 실제형상에 가까운 모델링 곡면을 찾고자 하였다.. 라. MCl(M:K$^{+}$, $Na^{+}$, NH$_{4}$$^{+}$ 및 H$^{+}$) 수용액 메디움에서의 Cd(II), Mg(II) 및 Zn(II)의 Dowex 1-X8, Cl$^{-}$ 수지에 대한 흡착은 역시 어떤 메디움에서도 Cd(II) 흡착이 제일 크며, 다음이 Zn(II) 이고 착이온을 형성않는 Mg(II)이 제일 작았다. 한편 메디움 종류별 D값의 크기순위는 H$^{+}$>K$^{+}$> $Na^{+}$>NH$_{4}$$^{+}$이였다. 메디움의 종류에 따라 D값의 차이가 나는 것은 금속이온의 착이온 형성과 금속이온의 용액내에서의 이온종의 상태와 관련이 있다고 생각된다. 마. THREE-DIMENSIONAL ANALYSIS OF THE NORMAL DENTITION AND EDENTULOUS MAXILLA OF KOREANS (한국인의 상악 유치악 치열 및 무치악 치조제에 관한 삼차원적 연구)

  • Statement of problem. In Korea, the preliminary impression trays for dental and edentulous maxillae are manufactured on the base of the statistical value of Westerners. There had been less study on the dental and edentulous arches of Koreans. Purpose. The purpose of this study was to evaluate an average dental cast, preliminary impression trays, three-dimensional relation of dental and edentulous maxilla of Koreans Material and methods. The subjects for this study were 173 dental casts of maxilla (dental: 52, edentulous : 146) with ages $18\{\sim}60$ years old. Each of the master casts was measured 69 measuring points on the dental cast or maxilla, and 46 measuring points on the edentulous cast of maxilla with three-dimensional digital measuring machine. Each measuring points were analysed and were overlapped, that three dimensional dental graphic manufactured by CAD/CAM system. Results. 1. A standard of distribution to alveolar bone were width between left and right buccal border lines of the standard 3/4 line. The mean value of dental and edentulous casts were 67.27mm, 63.49mm respectively. 2. Morphological classification of dental casts were divided into three groups or V-shape, O-shape, U-shape, that proportion of distribution were 17%, 16%, 67%, respectively. Dimensional classification of the dental casts were divided into five groups of less than 63mm, 63 up to 65mm, 65 up to 67mm. 67 up to 69mm, more than 69mm, respectively. 3. Morphological classification of edentulous casts were divided into three groups or V-shape, O-shape, U-shape, that proportion of distribution were 18%, 17%, 65%, respectively Dimensional classification of the edentulous casts were divided into five groups of less than 57mm, 57 up to 61mm, 61 up to 65mm, 65 up to 69mm, more than 69mm, respectively. 4. Mean dental and edentulous cast of maxilla were overlapped, the proportion of bone resorption to alveolar bone is higher than that of palatal bone, its difference were higher anterior 2/4 area than posterior 3/4 area. Conclusion. It obtains information of preliminary impression trays for dental and edentulous maxilla of Koreans.

Review and Perspectives on the Research and Industrial Applications of Manufacturing Systems Engineering in Korea for 40 Years (제조시스템공학 40년-정리와 전망)

  • Over 40 years, the domestic manufacturing industry of Korea played the vital role in creating national wealth, employment and innovation in its economy. In 2011, industrial products made up 99.7 percent of exports, and formed 31.2 percent of GDP. Given those facts, the research of manufacturing systems engineering for higher manufacturing efficiency and its industrial applications have been essential for Korea's economic growth. In this paper, for celebrating the 40th anniversary of the foundation of Korea institute of industrial engineers (KIIE), the research results and its industrial applications of KIIE are reviewed and summarized in the area of manufacturing systems engineering over past 40 years. Directions of future manufacturing system and the role of industrial engineers for our continuous economic growth are also mentioned.

Fabrication of Micro-reactor by 3D Printing Machine (3D 프린터를 이용한 마이크로 리액터 가공에 관한 연구)

  • A 3D printer was used to fabricate a micro-TAS system for biomedical applications. A polymeric medical device fabrication based on a 3D printer can be performed at atmospheric conditions. A CAD- and CAM-based system is a flexible method to design medical components, and a 3D printer is a suitable device to perform this task. In this research, a 100-micron-wide fluidic channel was fabricated with a high-aspect ratio. A cross-sectional SEM image confirmed its possible usage in a micro-reactor using 3D printers. CNC-machined samples were compared to 3D printer-fabricated samples, and the advantages and disadvantages were discussed. Based on the SEM images, the surface roughness of the 3D printed reactor was not affected by wet or dry conditions due to its manufacturing principle. An aspect ratio of 5 to 1 was achievable with 100-${\mu}$ m-wide fluid channels. No melting was found, and the shape of channels was straight enough to be used for micro reactors.

A Study on Generation of Laser Scanning Path and Scanning Control (레이저 주사 경로 생성 및 주사 제어에 관한 연구)

  • Selective Laser Sintering(SLS) method is one of Rapid Prototyping(RP) technologies. It is used to fabricate desirable part to sinter powder and stack the fabricated layer. To develop this SLS machine, it needs effective scanning path and the development of scanning device. This paper shows how to make fast scanning path with respect to scan spacing, laser beam size and scanning direction from 2-dimensional sliced file generated in commercial CAD/CAM software. Also, we develop the scanning device and its control algorithm to precisely follow the generated scanning path. Scanning path affects precision and total machining time of the final fabricated part. Sintering occurs using infrared laser which has high thermal energy. As a result, shrinkage and curling of the fabricated part occurs according to thermal distribution. Therefore, fast scanning path generation is needed to eliminate the factors of quality deterioration. It highly affects machining efficiency and prevents shrinkage and curling by relatively lessening the thermal distribution of the surface of sintering layer. To generate this fast scanning path, adaptive path generation is needed with respect to the shape of each layer, and not simply x, y scanning, but the scanning of arbitrary direction must be enabled. This paper addresses path generation method to focus on fast scanning, and development of scanning system and control algorithm to precisely follow generated path.

  • 사출금형 공정계획이란 금형설계를 완료한 후에 설계된 금형을 경제적, 효율적으로 생산하기 위하여 수행해야 할 제조공정에 대한 계획이다. 이러한 공정계획은 전문가의 경험에 의존함은 물론 많은 시간이 소요된다. 그리고 사출금형 공정계획은 현장경험을 토대로 완전 수작업에 의존하고 있으므로 공정계획전문가의 경험과 숙련 등에 따른 변동, 공정설계용 데이터의 부정확 등에 의한 공정계획 그 자체가 갖고 있는 부정확도에 따라 많은 문제점이 있다. 이러한 문제점과 함께 공정계획 전문가의 부족현상, CAD/CAM시스템의 보급 및 생산형태의 다품종소량화 현상에 따라 공정계획의 자동화가 필요하게 되었다. 본 논문에서는 사출금형 공정계획을 자동화하기 위해 사례기반추론(Case Based Reasoning)을 이용하였다. 사출금형의 공정계획은 성형품의 종류에 따라 다양하고 복잡하기 때문에 지식으로서 접근하는데는 한계가 있었다 그래서 본 논문에서는 전문가들의 경험지식을 이용한 사례기반추론을 이용한 공정계획시스템인 IIMPPS(Intelligent Injection Mold Process Planning System)를 개발하였다. 사례기반추론 공정계획 시스템을 개발하기 위해 과거 공정계획을 적합한 사례로서 표현 및 구성하고, 적절한 공정계획을 수립하기 위한 사례의 검색 및 조정방법을 제안하였다. 본 시스템은 차후에 가상생산 에이전트(최형림 등, 2000) 중에서 공정계획 에이전트의 엔진으로서 역할을 수행할 것이다.

THE MANAGEMENT OF A COMPLEX IMPLANT CASE USING CAD-CAM TECHNOLOGY: A CLINICAL REPORT

  • PURPOSE: The application of computer-aided technology to implant dentistry has created new opportunities for treatment planning, surgery and prosthodontic treatment, but the correct selection and combination of available methods may be challenging in times. Hence, the purpose of this case report is to present a combination of several computer-aided tools as approaches to manage complicated implant case. MATERIAL AND METHODS: A 47 year-old female patient with severe dental anxiety, high expectations, financial restrictions and poor compliance presented for a fixed rehabilitation. A CT scan with a radiographic template obtained with software (SimPlant, Materialize, Leuven, Belgium) was used for treatment planning. The surgical plan was created and converted into a stereolithographic model of the maxilla with bone-supported surgical templates (SurgiGuide, Materialise, Leuven, Belgium), that allowed for the precise placement of 7 implants in a severely resorbed edentulous maxilla. After successful osseointegration, an accurate scan model served as the basis for the fabrication of a one-piece milled titanium framework using the Procera (Nobel Biocare, Gothenburg, Sweden) technology. The final rehabilitation of the edentulous maxilla was rendered in the form of a screw-retained maxillary metal-reinforced resin-based complete prosthesis. RESULTS: Despite challenging circumstances, 7 implants could be placed without bone augmentation in a severely resorbed maxilla using the SimPlant software for pre-implant analysis and the SurgiGuide-system as the surgical template. The patient was successfully restored with a fixed full arch restoration, utilizing the Procera system for the fabrication of a milled titanium framework.

A study on Common Errors in Digital Impressions: (An Example of CEREC$^{(R)}$ AC) (디지털 인상 채득 시 흔히 발생하는 오류에 관한 연구 - CEREC$^{(R)}$ AC의 사례 중심으로 -)

  • Purpose: The purpose of the study was a quantitative evaluation of common errors in digital impression procedure using CEREC$^{(R)}$ AC system. Methods: Two-hundreds digital impression data comprising 174 inlays, 26 onlays by CEREC$^{(R)}$ AC in-office CAD/CAM system were obtained from a dental clinic. One evaluator assessed errors of the digital impression data and divided into five categories of errors: inappropriate scanner positioning (ISP), improper handling with a scanner (IHS), irregular powder arrangement (IPA), improper cavity preparation (ICP), and insufficient scanned data (ISD). Results: The most common errors were IPA(21%), and ISP and ISD were followed by 17% respectively. IHS was found in 14.5% of all digital impression data. ICP comprising only 6.5% was the rarest. Conclusion: Most errors were due to inaccurate manipulation with an intraoral scanner or improper cavity preparation for scanning. A deliberate manipulation to prevent common errors mentioned may deliver an optimal result in the digital impression procedure.
