  • Linkage maps based on molecular markers are valuable tools in plant breeding and genetic studies. A population of 76 RI lines from the mating of A3733 and PI437.088 was evaluated with Random Amplified Polymorphic DNA(RAPD) and Simple Sequence Repeats (SSR) markers to create soybean molecular linkage map, 302 RAPD and 21 SSR markers were genetically linked and formed forty linkage groups. These linkage groups spanned a genetic distance of 1,775 cM. The average distance between markers was 5.5 cM.

  • In this paper, we introduce the modification of a generalized (Ψ, L)-weak contraction and we prove some coincidence point results for self-mappings G, T and S, and some fixed point results for some maps by using a (c)-comparison function and a comparison function in the sense of a b-metric space.

  • GIS-based spatial data integration tasks have used exhaustive thematic maps generated from sparsely sampled data or satellite-based exhaustive data. Due to a simplification of reality and error in mapping procedures, such spatial data are usually imperfect and of different accuracy. The objective of this study is to carry out a sensitivity analysis in connection with input topographic data for landslide hazard mapping. Two different types of elevation estimates, elevation spot heights and a DEM from ASTER stereo images are considered. The geostatistical framework of kriging is applied for generating more reliable elevation estimates from both sparse elevation spot heights and exhaustive ASTER-based elevation values. The effects of different accuracy arising from different terrain-related maps on the prediction performance of landslide hazard are illustrated from a case study of Boeun, Korea.

  • With high resolution capability, satellite images are expanding their roles from earth resource monitorings to map production. Until now, maps are produced from airborne photos, but as large as at 1:2,400 scale, low cost satellite ortho images will replace the airborne photos. However, there has been no standard for map productions with satellite images. In this paper, we study the process of map productions with the satellite images of SPOT, IRS-lC, KOMPSAT, the positional accuracy of map features extracted from the satellite images, and the relationship between the image resolution and the map scale.

  • We present some properties characterizing the Mandelbrot set of quadratic rational maps. Any quadratic rational map is conjugate to either $z^2+c$ or ${\lambda}(z+1/z)+b$. For ${\mid}{\lambda}{\mid}=1$, we find the figure of the Mandelbrot set $M_{\lambda}$, the set of parameters b for which the Julia set of ${\lambda}(z+1/z)+b$ is connected. It is seen to be the whole complex plane if ${\lambda}{\neq}1$, but it is intricate fractal if ${\lambda}=1$. This supplements the work already investigated for the case ${\mid}{\lambda}{\mid}>1$.

  • We show that a pseudo-Anosov map constructed as a product of the large power of Dehn twists of two filling curves always has a geodesic axis on the curve graph of the surface. We also obtain estimates of the stable translation length of a pseudo-Anosov map, when two filling curves are replaced by multicurves. Three main applications of our theorem are the following: (a) determining which word realizes the minimal translation length on the curve graph within a specific class of words, (b) giving a new class of pseudo-Anosov maps optimizing the ratio of stable translation lengths on the curve graph to that on Teichmüller space, (c) giving a partial answer of how much power is needed for Dehn twists to generate right-angled Artin subgroup of the mapping class group.

  • We report first results from KVN and VERA Array (KaVA) VLBI observations obtained in the frame of our Plasma-physics of Active Galactic Nuclei (PAGaN) project. We observed eight selected AGN at 22 and 43 GHz in single polarization (LCP) between March 2014 and April 2015. Each source was observed for 6 to 8 hours per observing run to maximize the uv coverage. We obtained a total of 15 deep high-resolution images permitting the identification of individual circular Gaussian jet components and three spectral index maps of BL Lac, 3C 111 and 3C 345 from simultaneous dual-frequency observations. The spectral index maps show trends in agreement with general expectations – flat core and steep jets – while the actual value of the spectral index for jets shows indications for a dependence on AGN type. We analyzed the kinematics of jet components of BL Lac and 3C 111, detecting superluminal proper motions with maximum apparent speeds of about 5c. This constrains the lower limits of the intrinsic component velocities to ~ 0.98c and the upper limits of the angle between jet and line of sight to ~20°. In agreement with global jet expansion, jet components show systematically larger diameters d at larger core distances r, following the global relation d ≈ 0.2r, albeit within substantial scatter.

  • Let M be an exponentially bounded o-minimal expansion of the standard structure R = (R ,+,.,<) of the field of real numbers. We prove that if r is a non-negative integer, then every definable $C^{r}$ manifold is affine. Let f : X ${\longrightarrow}$ Y be a definable $C^1$ map between definable $C^1$ manifolds. We show that the set S of critical points of f and f(S) are definable and dim f(S) < dim Y. Moreover we prove that if 1 < s < ${\gamma}$ < $\infty$, then every definable $C^{s}$ manifold admits a unique definable $C^{r}$ manifold structure up to definable $C^{r}$ diffeomorphism.

  • It is necessary to develop a next generation location referencing method with higher accuracy as advanced technologies such as autonomous vehicles require higher accuracy of location data. Thus, we proposed a framework for a lane-level location referencing method (L-LRM) based on high-precision digital road network map, and developed a tool which is capable of analyzing and evaluating the proposed method. Firstly, the necessity and definition of location referencing method was presented, followed by the proposal of an L-LRM framework with a fundamental structure of high-precision digital road network map for the method. Secondly, an architecture of the analysis and evaluation tool was described and then the Windows application program was developed using C/C++ programming language. Finally, we demonstrated the performance of the proposed framework and the application program using two different high precision digital maps with randomly generated road event data.
