  • A new gate drive circuit of classic converter for a switched reluctance motor is presented. Conventional gate drive circuit usually consists of the isolated power supplies and signal transferring devices for isolation, such as photo coupler, pulse transformer, and gate drive chips. The proposed gate drive circuit consists of resistors, capacitors, and zenor diodes without isolated power supplies, that make the drive circuit simple and reduce the material cost. The operational modes are classified and analyzed. The characteristics of the phase current and the gate signal of upper switches is investigated with the variation of duty ratio through the experiments.

  • 포항가속기 저장링 진공시스템의 성능을 예견하기 위하여, 초도품 진공 챔버를 제 작, 조립 및 테스트를 하였다. 비휘발성 흡착펌프와 이온펌프로 구성되어 있는 다섯대의 혼 합펌프와 한 대의 터보펌프를 사용하였다. 그 결과 낮은 10-10Torr을 얻음으로서 설계된 진 공도를 성취하였다.

Lyophobized Ordered Mesoporous Silica Additives for Li-O2 Battery Cathode

  • The surface of an ordered mesoporous silica (OMS) was functionalized using 1H,1H,2H,2H-perfluorooctyltrimethoxysilane at $20^{\circ}C$ and $60^{\circ}C$. It was shown that only elevated temperature allows lyophobic properties on the walls of OMS, eventually preventing pore flooding with nonaqueous electrolytes. The functionalized OMSs (OMS-F) were characterized with various techniques: wettability test, $N_2$ sorption measurement, high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM). Cathodes of $10mg/cm^2$ loading were prepared with a commercial Pt/C catalyst and polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF, 2.5 wt.%) binder using a typical doctor blade method on a commercial gas diffusion layer (GDL) in the presence or in the absence of OMS-F additives. Subsequent discharge-charge curves were taken in a 1M LiTFSI-TEGDME electrolyte at 60oC in pure oxygen atmosphere. It was found that the discharge capacity was significantly affected by OMS-F: 5 wt.% of additive extended discharge capacity by a factor 1.5. On the other hand, a similar OMS material but synthesized at $20^{\circ}C$ did not show lyophobic properties and deteriorated cathode capacity.

Effect of Lactic Acid Bacteria-Fermented Mulberry Leaf Extract on the Improvement of Intestinal Function in Rats

  • This study examined the laxative effects of mulberry leaf extract (MLE) fermented by lactic acid bacteria (LAB), which contains high levels of polyphenolic and flavonoid compounds, against loperamide-induced constipation in rats. Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into a normal group (N) and three experimental groups; loperamide treated group (C), loperamide and LAB-fermented MLE 300 mg/kg treated group (MLEL), and loperamide and LAB-fermented MLE 600 mg/kg treated group (MLEH). After 33 d, fecal pellet amount, fecal weight, water content of fecal, gastrointestinal transit time and length, and serum lipid profiles were measured. Constipation was induced via subcutaneous injection of loperamide (2.0 mg/kg b. w., twice a day) for the final 5 d of the experiment. After loperamide administration, the LAB-fermented MLE groups showed a significantly increase in the fecal pellets number, wet weight, and water content in rats compared with the C group. Moreover, increases in the intestinal length and viable Lactobacillus numbers in the feces were observed in the LAB-fermented MLE groups. The intestinal transit time was shorter in the LAB-fermented MLE groups than in the C group. In addition, the LAB-fermented MLE groups showed a significant decrease in triglyceride and total cholesterol levels and an increase in HDL-cholesterol level. These results indicated that oral administration of LAB-fermented MLE shows laxative effect in loperamide-induced constipated rats.

  • This paper presents a signal processing IC for digital HDTV, which is designed to operate in bunt-in HDW or in HD-set-top Box. The chip supports de-multiplexing an ISO/IEC 13818-1 MPEG-2 TS stream. It decodes MPEG-2 MP@HL video bitstream, and provides high-quality scaled video for display on HDTV monitor. The chip consists of ARM7TDMI for TS-Demux, PCI interface, Audio interface, MPEG2 MP@HL video decoder Display processor, Graphic processor, Memory controller, Audio int3face, Smart Card interface and UART. It is fabricated using Sam sung's 0.18-um and the package of 492-pin BGA is used.

  • In this paper, we present the design of a system on a chip(SoC) based on Powerline Communication for Power-IT. The SoC deals with power information obtained from analog to digital converter and transmits this data via powerline. We integrate main processor, ADC and PLC function into a chip. Also a FPGA-based emulation system is introduced to evaluate a proposed SoC architecture.

  • We demonstrated 2.2inch qqVGA AMOLED display drived by ultra low temperature poly-Si (ULTPS) TFT not transferred but direct fabricated below $200^{\circ}C$. Si channel was crystallized by decreasing impurity concentration even at room temperature. Gate insulator with a breakdown field exceeding 8 MV/cm was realized by Inductively coupled plasma - CVD. In order to reduce stress of plastic, organic film was coated as inter-dielectric and passivation layers. Finally, ULTPS TFT of which mobility is over $20cm^2/Vsec$ was fabricated on transparent plastic substrate and drived OLED display successfully.
