The simplified cumulant method was applied to diffraction data of $CClF_3$ to study the equilibrium molecular parameters over a range of temperatures. The molecular parameters of $CClF_3$ by the simplified cumulant method were compared with those from the traditional method. Also the instrumentation of picosecond time resolved electron diffraction (TRED) and the experimental details are described. The total experimental temporal resolution was discussed in terms of the electron pulse width. The TRED system was applied to study the molecular structures for $CClF_3$ at room temperature. The molecular structural parameters $CClF_3$ from TRED are compared with those from GED/RT. The molecular parameters ($r_e$)of bonded C-F and C-Cl for $CClF_3$ by simplified CA are 132.00(2) pm and 175.20(3) pm, respectively, by using GED/RT. From the results of TRED experiments $r_a$ for bonded C-F and C-Cl are 132.23(13) pm and 177.23(19) pm.
In order to compare the intraspecific variation in host-parasite relationship of Clonorchis sinensis, six strains of inbred mice, ICR, DDY, GPC, BALB/c, nude and DS, were infected orally with 20 metacercariae of C. sinensis. The biologic incubation period of C. sinensis was the shortest in DDY mice, 21.2 days in average, followed by GPC 21.4, BALB/c and DS 23.2, ICR and nude 23.4 days, respectively. The fertile period of the cuke was also the longest in the DDY strain, 164 days on average, followed by GPC 132, BALB/c 97, nude 37, DS 32 and ICR 28 days. The egg-laying capacity of the cuke in DDY and GPC was relatively high and stable compared with the other four strains of mice. It was found that there are intraspecific variations in biologic incubation period, fertile period, and fecundity of C. sinensis. The DDY mouse is likely to be the most suitable experimental animal among the six strains of the mice tested. Key words: Mouse strain, Clonorchis sinensis, egg-laying capacity.
Treating pork loins with lactic acid cultures (Lactococcus lactis subsp. ATCC 11454 grown in 10% milk solids) during storage at 4$^{\circ}C$ were studied. 2-Thiobarbituric acid (TBA), color. and drip loss evaluations of refrigerated pork loins were assessed. Pork loins were immersed in solutions containing 0∼10% individual lactic acid cultures for 0∼5 min. Pork loins treated with 3.96 log units of lactic acid cultures after storage of 1 days as 4$^{\circ}C$ had no significant difference (P > 0.05) TBA values compared to those of controls. Pork loins treated with 3.96 log unitss of lactic acid cultures during storage of 9 days at 4$^{\circ}C$ had no significant difference (P > 0.05). Hunter color L* and b* values compared to those of controls. However, pork loins treated with 4.10 and 4.23 log unitss of lactic acid cultures after storage of 1 and days at 4$^{\circ}C$ had a significant difference (P < 0.05) Hunter color a* values compared to those of controls. Pork loins treated with 4.10 and 4.23 log unitss of lactic acid cultures after storage of 4 days at 4$^{\circ}C$ had a significant difference (P < 0.05) drip loss values compared to those of controls.
This experiment was conducted to study the effect of some environmental factors on mycerial growth, sporulation and sclerotial formation of Botrytis elliptica cultured on artificial media. Mycerial growth of B. elliptica was the most favorable on V-8 juice agar among the seven different media tested and sporulation of the fungus was favorable on the medium under NUV light irradiation. Abundant conidia could be obtained from V-8 juice agar medium by NUV light irradiation after 3 days of incubation at $23^{\circ}C$ under darkness. The optimum temperature for mycerial growth and conidial germination was $23^{\circ}C$ and the mycerial growth was favorable at relatively lower temperature ranged $19^{\circ}C$ to $23^{\circ}C$. The optimum pH of the medium for mycerial growth of this fungus ranged 4.5 to 5.0 and that was inhibited at higher pH of the media. Mycerial growth of the fungus was not highly influenced by irradiation of fluorescent light, however sporulation was stimulated under NUV light irradiation. Sclerotia of B. elliptica were formed when it was cultured at lower temperature below $19^{\circ}C$.
Silicon carbide nanowires were grown by heat treatment of the films at $1200^{\circ}C$ after amorphous SiC thin films were deposited on graphite substrate by radio frequency magnetron sputtering at $600^{\circ}C$. It was confirmed that SiC nanowires with the diameter of 20-60 nm and length of about 50nm were grown from Field Emission Scanning Election Microscope (FE-SEM) and Transmission Election Microscope (TEM) observation. The diameter of nanowires was increased as heat treatment time is increased. The nanowires were identified to ${\beta}$-SiC single crystalline from X-Ray Diffraction(XRD) analysis. It was observed from this study that deposition temperature of samples was critical to the crystallization of nanowires. On the other hand, the effect of deposition time was insignificant.

Excess molar volumes (Vm E ) of binary liquid mixtures: xC6H5CH3 + (1-x1)CH3CN or + (1-x1)C6H5NO2, or + (1-x1)C2H5NO2 have been determined as a function of mole fraction of C6H5CH3 (x) at a temperature of 303.15 K over a entire range of composition. The densities of the binary liquid mixtures were determined by pycnometrically. The VmE values of the mixtures have been found to be negative over the whole composition in order of C6H5CH3 + C6H5NO2, < C6H5CH3 + CH3CN, and < C6H5CH3 + C2H5NO2. The negative magnitude of VmE suggests the presence of intermolecular interaction in the three binary liquid mixtures.
Purpose: The resistance of H. pylori to clarithromycin is one of the major causes of eradication failure. In H. pylori, clarithromycin resistance is due to point mutation in 23S rRNA. The aims of this study were to investigate the mutation of 23S rRNA and to examine the association of cagA, vacA genotype and clarithromycin resistant genes. Methods: H. pylori DNA was extracted from antral biopsy specimens from 27 children with H. pylori infection. Specific polymerase chain reaction (PCR) assays were used for cagA and vacA. Mutations associated with clarithromycin resistance were detected by using PCR restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) analysis of 23S rRNA gene. Results: A2143G mutation was detected in one case and A2144G in 4, indicating 18.5% were clarithromycin resistant. Among the total of 27, cagA was present in 25 (93%), vacA s1a/m1 in 6 (22%), s1a/m2 in 3 (11%), s1c/m1 in 16 (59%), and s1c/m2 in 1 (4%). All of the 5 clarithromycin resistant strains were cagA (+), among which 2 were s1a/m1 and 2 were s1c/m1. There was no relation between genotypes and clarithromycin resistant genes. Conclusion: Detection of H. pylori resistance to clarithromycin using PCR RFLP from biopsy specimens might be useful for the selection of antibiotics. Clarithromycin resistant genes are not associated with genotypes of cagA and vacA.
This study was conducted to investigate the variation in sequence, the base composition and the sequence similarity of 18S rDNA (18S ribosomal RNA coding region) in the 10 Polygonatum spp. collections. The entire 18S rDNA region of 10 Polygonatum spp. collections ranged from 913 bp to 914 bp. There were 8 variable sites in the entire 18S region, and they were attributable to nucleotide substitution and deletion. $T{\rightarrow}C$ transition happened in 4 sites, and $A{\rightarrow}G$ transition happened in 1 site. $C{\rightarrow}A$ transversion happened in 1 site, and deletion happened in 2 sites. Transition rates were five times that of transversion. Base compositions of 18S rDNA were $23.09{\sim}23.33%$ in adenine, $23.33{\sim}23.52%$ in guanine, $25.60{\sim}25.85%$ in thymine and $27.38{\sim}27.79%$ in cytosine. The A + T content of 18S rDNA of 10 Polygonatum spp. collections averages 48.99%, ranging from 48.80% to 49.18%, and the G + C content averages 51.01%, ranging from 50.82% to 51.20%. Pairwise sequence comparisons indicated that 18S rDNA sequence similarity ranged from 99.7% to 100%.
Power consumption, mesh size, moisture content, color difference, amylogram of rice flour milled with the water soaked rice were compared with that of rice using dry pin mill process. The rice was soaked in 23, 24, 25, 26% of water for 10hr, independently. The more rice had moisture content, the less power consumption was needed. Power consumption to mill the rice soaked in 25% of water was less than that of dry rice by 6.8kW/100Kg. Moisture content of rice flour from the rice soaked with 25% of water was 2% higher than that of rice flour from the rice soaked with 23% of, water. Population of flour particle from the rice soaked with 24-25% of water was 45.7∼46.25 of 60 mesh, 9.7∼10.4% of 80∼100 mesh and 7.7∼8.1% of 100 mesh. Gelatinization temperature of rice flour from the rice soaked with 23% and 24∼25% of water was 65.70C and 64.50C, independently. Temperature of rice flour from the rice soaked with 23% 24∼25% of water sith minimum viscosity was 85.50C and 88.4∼88.70C, independently. Brightness and whiteness of the rice flour from the rice soaked with 24∼25% of water were 95.90∼95.95 and 905.82∼95.94, independently. Brightness and whiteness of the rice flour from the soaked rice were 1.2 and 1.7 higher than that of rice flour from the dry rice, independently.
2,3-Dihydroxybiphenyl 1,2-dioxygenase (23DBDO), an enzyme of the biphenyl biodegradation pathway encoded by the bphC gene of Comnmonas sp. SMN4, was expressed and purified using column chromatographies. SDS-PAGE of purified 23DBDO showed a single band with a molecular mass of 32 kDa, which was consistent with the data from the gel filtration chromatography (GFC). The purified enzyme exhibited a maximum 23DBDO activity at pH 9.0 and was stable at pH 8.0. The enzyme showed maximum activity at $40^{\circ}C$ and maintained activity at $30^{\circ}C$ for 24 h. Kinetic parameters represented by Michaelis-Menten constants such as $K_m\;and\;V_{max}$ values for various substrates were determined by Lineweaver-Burk plots: The purified enzyme 23DBDO from Comamonas sp. SMN4 had the highest catalytic activity for 2,3-dihydroxybiphenyl and 3-methylcatechol, and had very poor activity with catechol and 4-methylcatechol.
