  • Purpose This research aims to study the changes in recruitment needed for the growth and survival of companies in the rapidly changing industry. In particular, we built a real company's worklist accounting for the rapidly advancing data-driven digital transformation, and presented the capabilities and conditions required for work. Design/methodology/approach we selected 37 jobs based on NCS to develop the employment search requirements by analyzing the business characteristics and work capabilities of the industry and company. The business specification indicators were converted into a matrix through the TF-IDF process, and the NMF algorithm is used to extract the features of each document. Also, the cosine distance measurement method is utilized to determine the similarity of the job specification conditions. Findings Companies tended to prefer "IT competency," which is a specification related to computer use and certification, and "experience competency," which is a specification for experience and internship. In addition, 'foreign language competency' was additionally preferred depending on the job. This analysis and development of job requirements would not only help companies to find the talents but also be useful for the jobseekers to easily decide the priority of their specification activities.

  • It has already been two decades or more ever since the shipping and its related industries began to mature in advanced shipping countries. During that period, such countries have made various attempts for the survival of the industries. The advent of the so-called flags of convenience in a big way for the purpose of replacing crew members of their own expensive seamen by those of developing countries and the emergence of ship management companies, which are literally engaged in the management of ships, are the results of such movements. Some countries have been making efforts, as measures for the continued existence of the maritime industries, to create new marine-related businesses without regard to the traditional concepts of the industries. The movement toward the restructuring of a maritime society in Norway is well known as a typical example of such endeavors. The business of marine consultancy relating to maritime safety management field in our country is also a business that came into existence in such a stream toward the revitalization of the maritime society. In this paper, as well as placing in focus the current picture and problems of marine industries in our country, we would like to present approaches to tackle these problems employed by advanced industrial nations in the West, that is, moves toward the revival of maritime communities. Next, we propose, as one of the answers to solve such problems, the further development of a consulting business which takes advantage of simulators. Lastly, we show specific examples of application of a simulator to the consulting business, while commenting on the effects of its use.

  • The entry of large discount stores such as LG-mart, E-mart into small cities such as Choonchun or Wonju have had a profound impact on the business of small-sized retailers. The impact of the entry by large discount store is too big compared to that of the entry by department store. Now, it becomes the matter of survival for small-sized retailers. Regulation and protection are not the best solutions to solve these problems. It cannot solve the fundamental problems. Consumer buy products based on their needs not retailers' problems. Without satisfying consumers' various needs and wants, retailers can not survive. Therefore, it is extremely important to understand retail competition from the perspective of consumers and investigate overall retail competition not competition between two different types of retailers. In this study, we analyze the relationship between products and purchasing places, the competitive relationship among retailers. As a result, we get big picture of retail market and discuss the revitalization of conventional retailers. In addition, we propose new solutions to conventional retailers' problems from the perspective of consumers.

The result of survey on average farming incomes by region showed that farming incomes in Haenam and Jindo regions were much higher than those in other regions. Followed by Wando region, incomes in other regions were analyzed to be relatively lower. It is shown that farming incomes became higher as farm size increased. Farming incomes per unit size which were modified from farming incomes by region were highest in Jindo region, followed by East sea region, Wando and Haenam regions. Incomes in Jeju and Yeosu regions were analyzed to be relatively lower. Results on farming incomes per unit size ($m^2$) showed that both farming incomes and profits became higher as size increased. It implies that a scale effectiveness might exist in case of land-based abalone culture system. Impacts of major factors on farming profits and returns on investment in abalone seed aquaculture are summarized as follow. First, only if the survival rate increased by 10% with improvement of component ratio, variable effects became largest. In variable effects of other factors, a variation in Jindo region was largest and on the other hand, a variation in Yeosu region was shown to be smallest.
