  • The functions and roles in the various fields of modern society are changing into the unified and multiplex structure, which is simultaneous and virtual communication environments beyond physical space and time, by the digital IT technology. The urban traffic system is also being intellectualized in order to solve urban traffic problems and convenient services by using digital IT technology. The bus, which is the one of the most common public transportation, are suffering in the decrease of bus service quality and the bus passengers rate because of the development of other public transportation systems such as the subway and electric railway and by rapidly increasing private cars. By recognizing these problems, many domestic and overseas cities are promoting to introduce the Bus Information System (BIS) to improve service quality of buses through the intelligent traffic system. According to the construction of this new information system called the Bus Information System (BIS), the new bus stop configuration system and design plans are being required to solve the existing bus stop information system. Therefore, this research was conducted to suggest an effective BIS configuration system plan and synthetic design goals based on the investigation the problems of the information system and the BIS configuration system for Busan city. Also, this research are conducted the below actions as follows: First, the literature survey was conducted, such as theoretical documents on the bus stop and the Bus Information System(BIS), Also, the design trend of the BIS was examined through domestic and overseas BIS cases studies. Scondly, the problems related to the information system in Busan city bus stops were investigated to investigate the present state and problems of the Bus Information System (BIS). • This research was conducted to propose the design methodologies of post-tensioned concrete pavements (PTCPs) for specialized section pavements. The specialized sections considered in this study included bus stop sections in urban bus-only lanes and culvert existing highway sections that often showed severe failures. The PTCP designs of those specialized sections were performed based on both the stresses and the fatigue failures, and more conservative design results were selected. In the stress based design, the maximum tensile stress under extreme load conditions was obtained using finite element analyses first. Then, the number of tendons and the tendon spacing were determined so that the tensile stress was less than the allowable flexural strength. The AASHTO fatigue failure equations were used in the fatigue failure based design. From this study, the design methodologies of PTCP for bus stop sections in bus-only lanes and culvert existing highway sections were successfully suggested.

  • The current research aims at classifying the bus stops as transfer center in order to establish the rational bus transfer systems. Existing research typically identifies characteristics of demands for bus stops and land use surrounding the bus stops and classifies and profiles the bus stops. A common problem with this type of research is that the results with cross-sectional characteristics of land use and bus stop usage do not capture the details of trip chain, the fundamental characteristics of the trips with transfer. This paper therefore examines bus stop classifications with such variables as transport mode chains, intermediate stop chains and timing chains. The analysis on the data collected on Monday 20 April 2009 for passengers of Gyeong-gi bus results in a clear classification among bus stops in terms of such trip chain variables. The research would provide useful information for the decision support of transfer stops location choice and infrastructure design.

  • This study was conducted to investigate the early-age performance of precast pavements constructed by replacing existing asphalt pavements for a bus stop section in urban bus only lanes. The behavior monitoring items included the differences in the levels between asphalt and precast pavements at the entrance and exit of the precast pavement, joint widths and level differences between precast slabs, slab settlement, and skid resistance at the slab surface. The applicability of diamond grinding techniques was also investigated. The results of this study showed that the slab level, joint width, settlement, and skid resistance were not much changed as time passed, which implied that the precast pavements stably sustained vehicle loads. It was also found that employing diamond grinding could much improve the leveling between precast slabs and the surface skid resistance.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate advertisement effect of bus shelter, according to the congruency between advertising medium and the fashion brand image, and products. Four types of questionnaire are made through pretest. 273 female college students participated in the study. The results were as follows. First, high level of the congruency between advertising medium and the image of brands had effect on the advertisement effect. Second, there were not significant differences in the advertisement attitude and purchasing intention between clothing and cosmetics. However, clothing showed significant differences in the brand attitude than cosmetics did. Finally, interaction affects were not found in the congruency of image and product types. Based on these results, fashion advertisement strategies would be suggested.

  • According to the statistics, Korea is expected to reach a super-aged society in 2025. In preparation for an aging society, The government is making efforts to improve in social activity and welfare for the elderly people. But in case of people who live in urban-rural mixed cities, They can not benefit from traffic convenience that is essential in social activities. For example, surveys and interviews show that, The dwellers(65+ of some urban-rural mixed cities) have many restrictions on social activities because of mobility disadvantage. Therefore, We propose that expansion for the people who need to use the voucher taxi, Increase of the public bus service and rebuilding of the bus stop terminal. We are looking forward to this study will be used as basic data for transportation policy of urban-rural mixed cities across the country.

  • After the integrated fare system has been applied, public transportation and transfer traffic increased. As a result, transfer passengers must be considered in the operation of the bus. Although previous studies have limitations due to utilizing deterministic mathematical models, which fails to reflect the stochastic movements of passengers and buses, in this study, a more realistic bus stop micro-simulation model is proposed. Based on the proposed simulation model, we represent the relationship between bus arrival interval and passenger wait time as a regression model and empirically show the differences between the cases with and without transfer passengers. Also, we propose a method converting passenger waiting time to cost and find optimal bus arrival interval based on the converted cost. It is expected the proposed method enables bottom-up decision making reflecting practical situation.

  • The use of bus stop in the center lane has reduced the emissions of exhaust gas on the road due to the improvement of the traffic speed but has caused a health problem for the citizens who are waiting for the bus in the platform, and thus the air pollution control of bus stop in the center lane is emerging as a more important part. This study was conducted to investigate the air pollution degree for the center lane-bus stops in four regions using mobile air measuring vehicle, and to evaluate the characteristics of air pollution by comparing with the data measured at the urban air monitoring site close to the bus stops. In addition, the correlation analysis was performed to analyze the impact to neighboring region by vehicle exhaust gas. The regional mean concentration of nitrogen dioxide in the center lane-bus stops ranged from 0.025 to 0.043 ppm which shows from 2.5 times to 5.3 times higher than the values of urban air monitoring site selected as a control group. The regional mean concentration of ozone in the center lane-bus stops ranged from 0.023 to 0.034 ppm which shows from 3% to 28% lower than the values of urban air monitoring site selected as a control group. The concentrations of nitrogen dioxide and ozone for the sampling regions did not exceed one hour-air quality environmental standard (0.1 ppm). The mean concentration of particulate matter for four center lane-bus stops was $28{\mu}g/m^3$ which shows about 27% higher than the values of urban air monitoring site selected as a control group, and that of particulate matter did not exceed one day-air quality environmental standard ($100{\mu}g/m^3$). In the results of correlation analysis between data from center lane-bus stops and data from urban air monitoring sites, the correlation coefficient (r) of nitrogen dioxide was relatively low as 0.316 to 0.416, and the correlation coefficient was high as the distance was close and vice versa. However, the correlation coefficient of ozone ranged from 0.167 to 0.658 and the correlation coefficient was high as the distance was far and vice versa.

  • Implementation of semi-public management system of intra-city bus achieve excellent results but there are some side effects like increase of the fatal traffic accidents. This study tries to develop decision making model of measures of reducing traffic accidents following implementation of semi-public management system of intra-city bus. And survey with traffic experts and analytic hierarchy process are used for data survey and analysis. Quantitative measures and qualitative measures are suggested as high assessment items of AHP. Quantitative measures of low assessment items composed of a raise in the number of bus and safety device installation, facility supplement of bus stop, supplement of pedestrian protection facility, traffic safety assessment and supplement. Qualitative measures composed of system organization, redesign bus route, reinforcement of education, campaign and enforcement. The results of this study are as follows. First, the result turns out more weights are calculated on quantitative measures than on qualitative measures. Second, It is turned out in order of facility supplement of bus stop and traffic safety assessment and supplement as the quantitative measures. Third, as qualitative measures, system organization and redesign bus route are in the order. The results of this study are considered to be a basic data which can be referred if measures on the decrease of traffic accident are established and implemented in other cities and provinces.
