A Research on The Generation of Bus Stop Information by The Line Using Passenger's Boarding and Getting off Information on Smart Cards (교통카드 이용자 승차 및 하차 정보를 이용한 버스 노선별 정류장 정보 생성 모형 연구)

  • Smart cards are currently used in about 150 locales, including the metropolitan ares, and are utilized as a policy base for various public areas, including public transportation, bus fares, and public transportation requirements. However, excluding the metropolitan area and some metropolitan areas, there are many areas where the existing BIS data was unable to match station information on the data and Smart cards itself are not available on the bus stop information by the line. The purpose of this research was to produce bus stop information generated by the bus stop based on the bus route, and the actual stop information generated by the model presented in the study was derived by matching the actual station information.

A Study on the Bus Operation Management and Transport Strategy (버스운행관리 및 수송전략에 관한 연구)

  • The bus should supply an equal service to the whole community as feeder trip. However the existing bus route can not supply an effective feeder service in spite of the changes in the latent demand by the variety of regional structural change. This study aimed to establish the concept which frames the bus operation and management to cope with the latent demand to the bus. This study tackled this evidence by analyzing the transportation problems in terms of the urban growth emphasizing the following issues ; First, the strategy to improve the bus operation Second the land use control appropriate for the public transportation network Third economical range to justify the bus operation Second, the land use control appropriate for the public transportation network Third, economical range to justify the bus operation Fourth, the allowance for the private transportation mode On the latter part, the difference on the bus operation was compared to determine the range within which the bus operation could be justified. This study would provide some implications to improve the management for bus operation and fundamental information to develop the bus operation system.

Implementation of Mobile Digital Signage System on the Moving Vehicle (차량 탑재형 모바일 디지털 사이니지 구현)

  • We propose a vehicle-mounted, location-aware mobile digital signage system that can be used for public transportation through mobile communication. This paper proposes the installations of the LED display panels at the backside of the bus., which display traffic information to cars behind the bus. Information to be displayed would include, but is not limited to, road information, public commercials and private commercials. We propose the system architecture and further implement the prototype of mobile digital signage system for demonstration. The system is based on the Client-Server system. Each bus has a client terminal which detects the current location by a GPS receiver and sends its location information to the server using mobile communication function. The terminal device receives advertisements and traffic information from the server and displays it to the large LCD or LED panel installed at the inside and outside of the bus. We use the Android smartphone as a client system, which inherently equipped with GPS and mobile communication function. GPS detects the location of bus and reports its geo-location data to the traffic information center server via a wireless communication network. On the server side, we developed a specially designed control server, where it communicates with the other traffic information center and updates and manages the databases contents being displayed by each position. The server contains location dependent variable information and returns selected information back to the vehicle in real time. Spatial database is used to process location based data. Server system periodically receives the real time traffic information from the road information center database. And it process the information by bus location and bus line number. In this paper, we propose a mobile digital signage service and explain the system implementation of this service.

Electromagnetic Interference Analysis of an Inhomogeneous Electromagnetic Bandgap Power Bus for High-Speed Circuits

  • This paper presents an analysis of the electromagnetic interference of a heterogeneous power bus where electromagnetic bandgap (EBG) cells are irregularly arranged. To mitigate electrical-noise coupling between high-speed circuits, the EBG structure is placed between parallel plate waveguide (PPW)-based power buses on which the noise source and victim circuits are mounted. We examine a noise suppression characteristic of the heterogeneous power bus in terms of scattering parameters. The characteristics of the dispersion and scattering parameters are compared in the sensitivity analysis of the EBG structure. Electric field distributions at significant frequencies are thoroughly examined using electromagnetic simulation based on a finite element method (FEM). The noise suppression characteristics of the heterogeneous power bus are demonstrated experimentally. The heterogeneous power bus achieves significant reduction of electrical-noise coupling compared to the homogeneous power buses that are adopted in conventional high-speed circuit design. In addition, the measurements show good agreement with the FEM simulation results.

  • Nowadays, the bus system of a metropolitan area is improving very fast. According to the bus, commuter railways increase their competitive power. For this, trains get the mobility increasing, effective transferring system and unified information service. For the mobility increasing, commuting railway must be faster by flexible train diagram and facilities improvement. And finally, optimal commuter train, 'Liner' is needful. And for effective transferring system, it is necessary that railway station and transferring center of a city be merged. And it is needful that direct management bus by railway company and unification fare system on metropolitan region. Next, for information service system improving, the commuting railway station must be regional transportation hub at first. And it is needful that unified line map of trunk line transportation systems and regionally collective transportation system information book. Therefore, metropolitan commuting railways compete with trunk line bus and cooperate with feeder line bus, and can make optimal metropolitan public transportation systems.

  • The objective of Bus Information System developed as a part of the ITS, provides the operation information of buses to passengers and managers. The system uses roadside antennas (reading electronic tags on board buses) to enable wireless communication each other and radio data communication to deliver information about buses and their locations. This information is used to estimate the arrival time of the bus which will be shown on the bus stop message board or via internet. Bus Information System or Bus Management System (BMS) is going ahead and set up in many local governments, and recently quality improvement of the BIS is considered as a very important element in expanding of business or management. Therefore this research wished to contribute rationalization of the system by maintaining optimum quality. An gang was chosen to apply overall quality control process and will be evaluated in terns of its propriety and performance. This study has led the improvement of service and promote the use of public transits, which is the best way to solve the city traffic problem by effective management of public transits.

The Development and Application of Bus Bunching Indices for Bus Service Improvement (버스서비스 개선을 위한 버스몰림지표 개발 및 적용)

  • As bus is realized by economical, environmental transportation that is available mass transport than car, various policy for improvement of services is achieved. As innovative public transportation systems like BMS (Bus Management System) have established, it is possible to manage bus service efficiently. However, the present bus service management system mainly focuses on enhancing service reliability represented by schedule adherence index. This study discusses the necessity of a special management for bus bunching phenomena at stops, and develops two kinds of bus bunching indices based on the Number of Berth and the Average Bus Arrival Rate. The bus bunching indices were measured by utilizing the bus operational information from BMS at the Seoul TOPIS(Transportation & Information Service). In order to evaluate the sensitivity of the Indices, the indices were applied to two different bus groups: buses on exclusive bus median lane, and regular (shared) lanes. As analysis result, is bunching as is near in downtown and is bunching to peak time morning than the afternoon. Compared with the schedule adherence index, the suggested indices were proved as an efficient complementary indices in the evaluation of the bus operational performance. The results of index comparison between exclusive bus median lane and shared lanes can promote the expansion of exclusive bus median lane. Moreover, it can also be used as a reference in deciding bus station scale including the Number of Berth and the route adjustment plan.

  • BIS(Bus Information Systems) supplies the bus arrived time information for users in using BIT(Bus Information Terminal) installed on the bus stop. BIT is the device using peoples directly. So, BIT need a quick response when it flew. These are an important factor in the strategy of the BIS maintenance. BIT need a maintenance cost to operate smoothly. So, Suppose that commercial advertisement can be displayed on BIT screen in this study. And we researched an advertisement rates of the optimum level in using Contingent Valuation Method. In addition, we analyzed a characteristic of user's depending on each time using multinomial Logit Modeling method, and studied for BIT operation and ad. displaying strategy considered user's sex, ages and using times.

Bus Arbitration Considering Waiting cycle (대기사이클 고려 버스중재방식)

  • The conventional bus system architecture consists of masters, slaves, arbiter, decoder and so on in shared bus. As several masters can't use a bus concurrently, arbiter plays an role in arbitrating the bus. The efficiency of bus usage can be determined by the selection of arbitration method. Fixed Priority, Round-Robin, TDMA and Lottery arbitration policies are studied in the conventional arbitration method where the bus transaction cycle, the wait cycle and the priority are primarily considered. In this paper, we propose the arbitration method that considers the wait cycle. Furthermore, we verify the bus transaction cycle and the wait cycle compared with the other arbitration methods through TLM(Transaction Level Model).
