  • Buildings with multi-complex spaces designed for architectural values and functional requirements give rise to technical challenges in terms of energy efficiency and thermal comfort. Since spaces in such buildings are connected with openings with geometrical complexity, it is hard to define zoning plan and to control heating/cooling loads effectively. This paper presents a case study on the evaluation of operation strategy for a building with multi-complex spaces using computer simulation. The modelling methodology and the results of the simulations are also described.

해외 사례분석을 통한 Cool Roof의 도입 방안 (Introducing Strategy of Cool Roofs based on Comparative Evaluation of Foreign Cases)

  • Cool roofs are currently being emerged as one of important mechanism to save energy in relation to the building. This paper reviews worldwide experiences (USA, Japan and EU etc) for the potential benefits cool roofs offer in relation to building energy saving for comparison purposes. It is confirmed that there is a significant potential to the energy saving by introducing the cool roof in a Korean climate because of similarity in terms of HDD (Heating Degree Day) and CDD (Cooling Degree Day) as those countries reviewed. Such a comparative study highlights that the type of measurements performed and the quantitative parameters reported from the countries should be standardized in Korean context in order to implement further comparable experiments for scientifically sound investigations. It is anticipated that this research output could be used as a valuable reference in implementing a Nation-wide cool roofing strategy in the central and local governments since a suitable technical, more objective direction has been proposed based on the measured, fully quantitative performance of the involved components of a cool roof system in the global context. From this critical review, a very important step has been made concerning the practicality of cool roof in Korean context. Ultimately, the suggestion in this paper will greatly contribute to opening new possibilities for introducing cool roof in this country, proposed as an initial aim of this paper.

IR(Infrared) 센서기반 제어방법에 따른 공동주택 멀티 존 환기시스템 평가 연구 (An Evaluation on IR Sensor Based Demand Controlled Ventilation Strategies for Multi-zone in the Apartment House)

  • In previous research, most occupant said that they have not operated ventilation system installed in the house, because of increasing of energy consumption and unconcern of ventilation. Therefore, it is necessary to applied the sensor based demand controlled ventilation for the IAQ(Indoor Air Quality) and improvement of energy efficiency in ventilation strategy. The propose of this study is to present a application method of IR(Infrared) sensor for multi-zone DCV(Demand Controlled Ventilation) in the apartment house. It is possible that IR sensor could be used for DCV, because that could detect the occupant and action. IR sensor based DCV strategies are established to evaluate characteristic of application in the apartment house and simulated by Contam program. As a result, they have some week points though, if they would be applied DCV with optimum strategy, it would be useful to improve IAQ, to reduce energy consumption.

  • General, fast, and efficient stitching methods for the synthesis of dendrimers with linear PEG units at a core, as dendritic-linear-dendritic materials, were developed. The synthetic strategy involved the click reaction between an alkyne and an azide. The linear core building blocks, three dialkyne-PEG units, were chosen to serve as the alkyne functionalities for dendrimer growth via click reactions with the azide-dendrons. These three building blocks were employed together with the azide-functionalized Fr$\acute{e}$chet-type dendrons in a convergent strategy to synthesize the Fr$\acute{e}$chet-type dendrimers with different linear core units. Their structure of dendrimers was confirmed by $^1H$ and $^{13}C$ NMR spectroscopy, IR spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, and GPC analysis.

  • Resizing techniques have been recognized as practical methods for drift design of high-rise building since sensitivity analysis and iterative structural analysis are not required in implementation. In the techniques, the amount of material of a memberin a building for resizing is determined in terms of cross-sectional areas and sectional inertia moments as design variables. In this study, five drift design methods are developed by considering design variable linking strategy and fomulating resizing algorithm in terms of material properties of shear walls as a design variable. The developed methods are applied to the drift design of 20-story frame-RC shear wall structure, and then evaluated in the view points of practicality and efficiency.

  • Construction projects that should be under the construction supervision regulation were decreased in 2008 and new supervision projects in 2010 were significantly reduced by 60% comparing to the ones as of 2009. On the contrast, the volume of world construction projects including Middle·South Asia and Africa is forecasting to be increased by 46% in 2018. However, although the needs of oversea expansion of domestic construction supervision firms are appeared more and more, their preparations to the strategically important areas in the world are insufficient. Thus, this paper aims to suggest directions of strategics and plans for domestic construction supervision industry to expand the market to the world through questionnaire surveys and expert investigation.

  • The brand value of apartment which affects not only sale percent and profit but also the worth of real estate is raised as an important point of sale competition in the apartment market. But now the market is occupied by a few construction companies, which have well recognized brand. So it's difficult for a construction company without brand to enter the apartment market because of consumer's ignorance. domestic construction companies are spending lots of money and effort to advertise their characteristic brandapartment based on classified consumer's desire and offer consumers what they want. Therefor, This study investigated the factors of recently characteristic brandapartment focusing on design, environment, materials, home automation and surveyed residents preference of a brand by P.O.E methods. Based on such results of survey, this study suggest the basically reference information on characteristic strategy of an brandapartment.

A Case Study on Architectural Engineering Design Using Action Learning

  • Companies want universities to produce graduates with creativity and problem-solving skills, and for this reason universities have extended engineering design education, including in the field of architectural engineering. This paper investigates an engineering design class in the Department of Architectural Engineering, J University. The class was taught in 2010 and 2011using an Action Learning (AL) teaching-learning strategy. The students responded that the level of participation and satisfaction was high in the Action Learning classes, and role allocation or responsibility and communication of the project teams were very effective. But it was also found that as Action Learning is such a new method for students of engineering design, an orientation session that describes what to do and what to prepare should be given before the class starts.

  • Large-scale construction projects require various license and technologies for the manufacturing and handling processes. Also, the whole life cycle business process management determines the success of the project. Then, the efficiency of the business conducted by stakeholders and their possessed technology should be enhanced in order to strengthen their competitive power. For this reason, many experts pointed out to focus on the improvement of the life cycle process and efficient management. Since it is very important to keep up-to-date data and utilize it for work during the long-term project to reflect changes in the large-scale project, the most important part of the project management in project is information change management. Therefore, the objective of this study is applying configuration management(CM) technique in order to managing change data generated for planning in early phase. The result of this research will certainly assist the large-scale project managers in the development of information change management system.

  • As the problems of environment have been increasing, the architecture is exploring ways toward development of a idea for future generation. The purpose of this study is design element of environment-friendly architecture, and a general concept and mark of environment-friendly architecture are considered. And then, the design element is analyzed to come true the mark by considering the internal and external examples. The related elements on design of environment-friendly architecture are proposed by considering estimation items: The items are divided into six branches that is placement strategy, outside space furtherance, form of building, room environment furtherance, supply processing system, and preservation administration. Through this process, this study is proposed applicable solution of a concrete plan.
