  • In this paper an optimal LQ controller is designed for the output characteristic improvement of buck-type switching regulators. State-space averaging method is adopted for modelling of switching regulators. The LQ controller is derived via an unified operator form for the application to both continuous-time and discrete-time control systems. Some design parameters of the LQ controller are chosen through a computer simulation and the LQ controller is implemented by analog circuits.

  • Dynamic modelling and controller design technique for constant-frequency series resonant converter with buck type preregulator are mainly described in this paper. An equivalent circuit model is derived and a state equation is developed from this model. To improve the dynamic performance, a negative feedback of inductor current is added to the proportional and integral control of output voltage. Furthermore, an optimization technique with prescribed eigenvalue region is applied to the determination of feedback gains. With the presented design method, much better dynamic performance can be obtained.

  • This paper is described a digital implementation of a pulse area modulation (PAM) method for a unity-power-factor buck-boost converter. A digital controller is designed and implemented by a Digital Signal Processor(DSP) to replace the analog control circuit for PAM. Experimental results are presented and compared with simulations.

  • This paper is presented the Partial Resonant Soft Switching Mode Power Converter which is adapted the power converter having the partial resonant soft switching mode, that makes switches operated when the resonant current or voltage becomes zero by making the resonant circuit partially at turning on and off of the switches with suitable layout of the resonant elements and switch elements in the converter. Also, this paper includes the analysis and simulation of the Partial Resonant type Buck-Boost Chopper.

  • This paper compares three kinds of soft-switching circuits from viewpoints of surge suppression, load characteristic, and power efficiency for a tapped-inductor buck converter with low voltage and high current. As a result, these soft-switching techniques have achieved much higher efficiency of 80 % when compared with a hard-switching buck converter for the output condition of 1V and 20A.

  • In this paper, we proposed new maximum electric power tracking algorithm by composing Buck-boost chopper circuit to charge electric power from wind energy generator which is under low and high wind velocity. The break function is also proposed with the existed buck-boost chopper switch. We made a proto-type as a lab level to verify appropriateness of using proposed circuit.

  • An analysis on a passive current sharing characteristics of a multi-phase synchronous buck converter is presented. The passive current sharing method is simple but its characteristics depend on the converter equivalent resistance and PWM uniformity. In this paper, the load sharing and power consumption of the passive current sharing system for the converter equivalent resistance and duty ratio inequalities are investigated through the simulation and experiment.

  • This paper presents the dynamics of the current-mode controlled buck and boost converters, which are both connected to an ill-conditioned source. This paper investigates the origin of potential instability and demonstrates internal/external dynamics of the converters under adverse interactions with the source.
