본 논문은 leaky bucket을 이용하여 초고속망의 폭주를 제어하는 Advanced Peer-to-Peer Network(APPN)의 성능을 분석하였다. 제안된 논문에서는 손실 및 오류패킷에 대하여 재전송하는 오류제어 방식을 병행하여 사용하였다. APPN 모델의 성능 분석을 통하여 사용자 차원의 오류제어와 망 차원의 폭주제어 방식간의 상호작용을 연구하여 윈도우 크기와 leaky bucket의 토큰 생성속도가 end-to-end delay에 영향을 미치는 중요한 파라미터들임을 알 수 있었다.

convergence networks (BcN). The problem seeks to minimize the total cost of switch and cable while satisfying the requirement of demand and quality of service (QoS). We develop mixed integer programming models to obtain the optimal switch location of the access network. We develop a Tabu Search (TS) heuristic algorithm for finding a good feasible solution within a reasonable time limit. We propose real networks with up to 25 nodes and 180 demands. In order to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm, we generate lower bounds from nonlinear QoS relaxation problem. Computational results show that the proposed heuristic algorithm provides upper bounds within 5% optimality gap in 10 seconds.

In this paper, we deal with a network optimization problem arising from the deployment of Ethernet-based BcN access network. BcN convergence services require that access networks satisfy QoS measures. BcN services have two types of traffics: stream traffic and elastic traffic. Stream traffic uses blocking probability as a QoS measure, while elastic traffic uses delay factor as a QoS measure. Incorporating the QoS requirements, we formulate the problem as a nonlinear mixed-integer programming model. The proposed model seeks to find a minimum cost dimensioning solution, while satisfying the QoS requirement. We propose tabu search heuristic algorithms for solving the problem, and simulate tabu result. We demonstrate the computational efficacy of the proposed algorithm by solving a network design problem.

유무선 통신 기술, 디지털 미디어, 그리고 영상처리 기술의 비약적인 발전과 서비스 통합화 추세는 광대역통합망(BcN: Broadband convergence Network)과 같은 초고속 네트워크를 통하여 VoIP, IPTV와 같은 여러 형태의 새로운 서비스를 창출하게 되었다. VoIP 서비스가 기존의 공중회선 교환망에서와 같은 이윤 창출을 위해서는 기존 서비스 이상의 품질을 제공하여야 한다. 따라서 실시간 품질측정 프레임워크는 VoIP 서비스를 제공하기 위한 가장 중요한 요소라고 할 수 있다. 이를 위해 IETF (Internet Engineering Task Force)에서는 RTCP (Real-Time Transport Protocol Control Protocol)를 확장한 RTCP-Extended Reports (RTCP-XR)을 정의하였다. 그러나 RTCP-XR에서는 음성품질을 측정하기 위한 항목만을 정의하였을 뿐 실제 VoIP 품질 측정을 위한 절차와 방법은 규정하지는 않았다. 본 논문은 종단간 패킷화된 음성을 효과적으로 측정하기 위한 프레임워크 제시를 목적으로 하고 있다. 이를 위해 본 논문에서는 VoIP 품질 측정개념과 더불어 제안된 프레임워크에서 측정방법을 단계적으로 기술하였다. 아울러 RTCP-XR의 개념을 확장한 새로운 형태의 포맷을 제안하였다.

A key issue toward mobile multimedia communications is to create technologies for broadband signal transmission that can support high quality services. Such a broadband mobile communications system should be able to overcome severe distortion caused by timevarying multi-path fading channel, while providing high spectral efficiency and low power consumption. For these reasons, an adaptive suboptimum decision feedback equalizer (DFE) for the single-carrier shortburst transmissions system is considered as one of the feasible solutions. For the performance improvement of the system with the short-burst format including the short training sequence, in this paper, the multiple-training least mean square (MTLMS) based DFE scheme with soft decision feedback is proposed and its performance is investigated in mobile wireless channels throughout computer simulation.

A dynamic bandwidth allocation (DBA) scheme, an inter -optical network unit (ONU) bandwidth scheduling, is presented to provide quality of service (QoS) to different classes of packets in Ethernet passive optical networks (EPONs). This scheme, referred to as TADBA, is based on efficient threshold reporting from, and adaptive polling order rearranging of, ONUs. It has been shown that the network resources are efficiently allocated among the three traffic classes by guaranteeing the requested QoS, adaptively rearranging the polling orders, and avoiding nearly all fragmentation losses. Simulation results using an OPNET network simulator show that TADBA performs well in comparison to the available allocation scheme for the given parameters, such as packet delay and channel utilization.

통신, 방송, 인터넷이 융합된 품질보장형 광대역 멀티미디어 서비스를 언제, 어디서나 끊김없이 안전하게 이용할 수 있는 차세대 통신망에 대한 구축이 광대역 통합망 (Broadband convergence Network : BcN) 이라는 국가적인 프로젝트로 구체화되고 있다. 광대역 통합망에서는 차세대 통신망에 대한 기본적인 요구사항으로 제시되고 있는 구조, 즉 서비스 계층을 제어 및 전송 계층으로부터 분리하며, 이들 계층간에 표준화된 인터페이스를 사용하여 통신망 하부구조에 독립적으로 새로운 통신 서비스를 생성 및 관리할 수 있는 구조를 가지도록 추진되고 있다. 21세기를 맞이하여 서비스, 단말 및 매체의 "개인화," "이동화" 및 "융합화"의 경향이 급속도로 확산되고 있으며, 이러한 조류의 최전선에 통방융합이 자리하고 있다. 기술의 발전에 따라 사용자의 요구가 변화되고, 이러한 변화는 이종 기술 및 서비스의 융합을 시도하게 만들었다. 지금까지 수년에 걸쳐 통신과 방송분야에서 기술 및 서비스의 융합이 시도되어 왔으나 실제 사용자 측면에서의 가시적인 결실은 미미하였던 것이 사실이다. 이러한 현실은 IPTV(Internet Protocol TV)나 DMB(Digital Multimedia Broadcasting)가 등장함에 따라 생활에 바로 적용이 가능한 현실적인 서비스가 되었다. 이와 같은 현실을 바탕으로 BcN(Broadband Convergence Network)에서의 IPTV 및 DMB 서비스에 대한 기술과 현황 및 전망을 살펴본다.
