In this paper, dynamic properties of a bridge by traffic loads, is proposed as a reasonable method for the determining the impact factor. In addition, impact factors obtained from previous inspection reports were classified by the span length of the bridge, kind of the bridge and type of the bridge and adjusted the result of the impact factor by the statistical method and presented problems. Also, the determining method of the impact fatter using traffic load is proposed and compared the proposed method with the specification code. The method estimating the impact factor by the traffic loads can be efficiently concluded to the response of structure as reflecting the impact factor and saving the investigation cost. Also it is expected to use to maintenance of structures using the usual test of the bridge.
A design procedure of stabilizing cable is proposed using buffeting analysis to stabilize the seesaw-like motion of the free cantilevered structure of a cable-stayed bridge during its construction. The bridge examined is a composite cable-stayed bridge having a main span length of 500 m. Based on the buffeting analysis, the stress in bare structure exceeded the allowable limit and a set of stabilizing cable was planned to mitigate the responses. The most efficient positions of the hold-down stabilizing cables were numerically investigated by means of an FE-based buffeting analysis and the required dimensions and pretension of the stabilizing cables were also calculated. The proposed stabilizing measure would be expected to secure the aerodynamic safety of a cantilevered structure under construction with considerable mitigation of buffeting responses.

Cheongdam Bridge in Seoul Metropolitan Subway Line No.7 recently constructed has 180 meters (2@90m) of expansion length of structure (distance between fixed points). Track type is all ballasted track and rail expansion joint is installed at every movable point. However, there is no expansion joint at the transition area between ballasted track ,end deck. By this reason, the rail buckling has been occurred every year and there is actually an abnormal behavior in expansion. In this study, based on the modeling of the Cheongdam Bridge, the element of interacting relationship between track and structure which is influential to track displacement in long-span bridge was analyzed and, finally, the methodology to ensure the continuous-welded rail in Cheongdam Bridge was suggested.

This study presents the Optimum Evaluation of PS Concrete Deck and High Strength Two Plate Girder System. Recently, for the simplification of structure and the long length of bridge, a small number girder bridge which minimized a number of girder by two is much designed and constructed. For the structural analysis, a finite element formulation considering with even the matter of torsion in the three-dimensional problem is presented. And connectively, for the design of optimum section, an algorithm of optimum design is developed. The section of a small number girder bridge which constituted of two girders and PS Concrete Deck is optimized by using optimum program developed in this study. and two girders bridge refered in this study is proved a efficiency and a economy by being compared and checked to the general plate girder bridge with five girder and Reinforced Concrete Deck.

The improvement of speed and ride comfort requires a very horizontally and vertically rigid and non-flexible alignment. It is inevitable to construct many bridges depending on the topography of landscapes and obliged to lay turnouts on the bridges. In that case, special considerations have to be taken into account, i.e. permissible stresses of turnout components and limitations of displacements of bridge and turnouts. In this studies, numerical analyses for turnout/bridge interaction are carried out using commercial program LUSAS. The target of analytical model is the turnout layed near Pyeongrae-Hopyeng station on Kyeongchun line. The lead rail, stock rails, and the bridge are modelled using beam elements. Fasteners and ballast resistances are modelled using bi-linear spring elements. The turnout behaviors are investigated by varying the parameters such as span length of bridge, spring coefficients, and thermal loads.
This paper deals with the influence on the dynamic response of I-type girder railway bridge with high-speed electric multiple unit(HEMU) train load. This bridge system which has six I-girder and several cross beams, is modeled with plate and frame elements. And the upper slab is assumed to be fully connected with girders using rigid rinks. Span lengths, types of vehicle and running speeds are selected as parameters for analyses. For more exact analysis, it was adopted that 3-dimensional section of bridge models was produced by the assumed design wheel loads of HEMU vehicle at 200~350 km/hr speeds. Dynamic vertical deflections, dynamic amplification factors and vertical accelerations of bridges having 30 and 35 m span length were investigated and compared with the limit values specified in various national railway bridge specifications.
A multi-span bridge has the peak value of resultant girder moment or membrane stress at the interior support. In this paper, the spline finite strip method (FSM) is modified to obtain the more appropriate solution at the interior support where the peak values of solution exist. The modification has been achieved by expressing the shape function with non-periodic B-splines which have multiple knots at the boundary. The modified B-splines have the useful feature for interpolating the curve with sudden change in curvature. Moreover, the modified spline FSM is very efficient in analyzing multi-span box girder bridges, since a bridge can be modeled by an assembly of strips extended along the entire bridge length. Numerical examples of the bridge analysis have been performed to verify the efficiency and accuracy of the new spline FSM.
Assessment of a monumental concrete arch bridge with a total length of 210 meters having three major spans of 30 meters and a height of 65 meters, which is located in an earthquake-prone region in southern part of the country is presented in this study. Three-dimensional finite element model of the bridge was generated using a commercially available general finite element analysis software and based on the outcomes of a series of in-depth acceleration measurements that were conducted on-site, the model was refined. By using the structural parameters obtained from the dynamic and the static tests, calibrated model of the bridge structure was obtained and this model was used for necessary calculations regarding structural assessment and evaluation.
In this paper, the increment of the local scour depth at piers by constructing the bridge between existing bridges is examined through the experiments in which 5 piers in the non-cohesive bed material in the experimental flume were installed. In the experiments the maximum distance of 25 times of the pier length and the maximum distortion width of 8 times of the pier width were utilized. Through the experimental studies, it was indicated that low flow, which can be characterized as the flow having low Froude numbers, the maximum bed configuration change is obtained when the piers are installed in the straight line in the flor direction without any distortion. However, In the high flow, which can be characterized as the flow having high Froude numbers, the maximum bed configuration change is obtained when the piers are installed with some distortion from the flow direction. The influence of the bed configuration by interaction between bridge piers is changed depending upon the Froude numbers, the distance between piers, and the distortion width between adjacent bridge piers. Also, because the scour patterns are affected by the bed configuration, the maximum scour should be increased by about 60% compared to that in a single pier if the interaction between bridge piers exists. It can be suggested that the maximum scour depth at bridge piers predicted by applying the existing equations should be increased if the interaction between bridge piers exist. Those cases are found when new bridges are constructed successively in the river in the urban area.

A modified FRP-concrete composite deck applicable to cable stayed bridge with long girder-to-girder span is proposed, and its design and economical efficiency are presented. The existing FRP-concrete composite deck has low section stiffness due to adoption of GFRP panel with low elastic modulus, which arrives at difficulty in meet of serviceability limit such as deck deflection. So a new-type FRP-concrete composite deck, named precast FRP-concrete deck, is developed by extensioning concrete at the both ends of FRP-concrete composite deck, which brings the effect of reduction of net span length of deck. Compared to the existing FRP-concrete composite deck this modified deck has the advantage of increasing span length but slightly increases self weight. For this type of deck the section optimization is carried out for the cases of simply supported on girder and composite to girder. The optimized deck was applied to cable stayed bridge with a center span length of 540m, and as a result it is verified that PFC deck can be applied efficiently to cable stayed bridge due to reduction of quantity of upper structure.
