In the design of an of offshore structure located near an underwater shoal, the same amount of attention given to the wave height may have to be put to the wave induced current as well since some of the wave energy translates to the current. In the present study, two numerical models each based on the nonlinear Boussinesq equation and the linear mild slope equation are applied to calculate the wave deformation and secondly induced current around a shoal. The underwater shoal in Vincent and briggs' experiment (1989) is used here, and all non-breaking wave conditions of the experiment with various monochromatic and unidirectional or multidirectional spectral wave incidences are concerned. Both numerical models clearly showed wave induced currents symmetrically farmed along the centerline over the shoal. The calculated wave heights along a preset line also generally showed very nice agreements with the experimental values.

This study was designed to examine changes in the physicochemical properties of extruded corn fibers with different amounts of feed moisture (30, 40, and 50%). The screw speed and die temperature were fixed to 200 rpm and $140^{\circ}C$, respectively. The crude ash, fat, and protein in corn fiber decreased from the extrusion process. The insoluble dietary fiber in corn fibers decreased, while soluble dietary fiber increased at a feed moisture of 30%. The specific length of the extruded corn fiber increased while the specific mechanical energy input, density, breaking strength, and elastic modulus decreased. The water absorption index (WAI) and reducing sugar content of the corn fibers did not significantly change, but the water soluble index (WSI) decreased as the feed moisture content of the corn fiber increased. On the other hand, the WAI of de-starched corn fiber decreased while WSI and reducing sugars increased as the feed moisture content of the corn fiber increased.
Hydroelastic deformation of pontoon type floating structure in waves is critical in structural design. Therefore, it is necessary to develop additional technology that make to dissipate the wave energy as the submerged horizontal plate. In this study, we investigate the characteristics of hydrodynamic interaction effect by the submerged plate affecting to the radiation forces on a pontoon type floating structure using numerical analysis. We have developed the numerical method based on the composite grid system that consists of moving and fixed grid to compute the radiation forces due to the heaving motion of pontoon type floating structure and submerged plate. The numerical simulations based on the finite difference method are carried out to solve the fully nonlinear free surface involving the breaking waves and compared with the experimental data to confirm the reliability of the numerical method. Then, we discuss the interaction effects on the hydrodynamic forces that could influence on the hydroelastic response of floating structure.
Here in this work, a 4-chlorophenol (4-CP)-degrading bacterial strain Bacillus subtilis (B. subtilis) MF447840.1 was isolated from the drain outside the Hyundai car service center, Agartala, Tripura, India. 16S rDNA technique used carried out for genomic recognition of the bacterial species. Isolated bacterial strain was phylogenetically related with B. subtilis. This strain was capable of breaking down both phenol and 4-CP at the concentration of 1,000 mg/L. Also, the isolated strain can able to metabolize five diverse aromatic molecules such as 2-chlorophenol, 2,4-dichlorophenol, 2,4,6-trichlorophenol, 4-nitrophenol, and pentachlorophenol for their growth. An extensive investigation was performed to portray the kinetics of cell growth along with 4-CP degradation in the batch study utilizing 4-CP as substrate. Various unstructured models were applied to evaluate the intrinsic kinetic factors. Levenspiel's model demonstrates a comparatively enhanced R2 value (0.997) amongst every analyzed model. The data of specific growth rate (μ), saturation constant (KS), and YX/S were 0.11 h-1, 39.88 mg/L, along with 0.53 g/g, correspondingly. The isolated strain degrades 1,000 mg/L of 4-CP within 40 h. Therefore, B. subtilis MF447840.1 was considered a potential candidate for 4-CP degradation.
The flexural performance of amorphous steel fibers having environmental and economy benefits due to relatively short manufacturing process were evaluated as well as that of hooked steel fibers by varing fiber length and volume fraction. Fiber lengths were 10 mm, 20 mm, 30 mm and fiber volume fractions were varied from 0.3% to 1.2%. Test results with flexural performance showed that mixing design needs to be careful because of relatively high volume of amorphous steel fiber compared to hooked steel fibers. High flexural strength was obtained from both longer fiber length and higher volume fraction. Residual strength and toughness of amorphous steel fiber were similar to that of hooked steel fiber, even though rapid dropping of applied load right after concrete matrix breaking. It can be judged that relatively high ability of energy dissipation around first cracking area relatively overcome rapid dropping of loading.

This study aims at dedicating to relevant technology fields by suggesting design methods of structures and estimating their safety in relation to substructure for offshore wind power requiring high safety to various environment conditions. Especially, with respect to 5MW Offshore Wind Power System, this study will provide information about major wind directions and duration in combination with the developing wave climate at the test field. Therefore, connections between wind fields and approaching wave trains will be estimated and their intensity, direction and time shift will be pointed out. Furthermore, the local pressure distribution of breaking waves will be investigated by physical and numerical modeling. The currently applied structural and fatigue assessment of support structures for offshore wind energy converters is based on common design rules. Normally, constructions in structural engineering are treated as limited, single structures. This means that varying aspects of manufacturing are considered by high safety factors.
This experiment was carried out to determine the effects of supplementation of L-carnitine and humic substances alone or in combination in laying hen diets on performance, egg traits and blood parameters. A total of 180 IGH type brown laying hens aged 22 weeks were employed in a completely randomized block design with one control group and three treatment groups. Each group was divided into five replicates as subgroups, each comprising 9 hens. The diets of the first, second and third treatment groups were supplemented with 0.1 g/kg L-carnitine, 1.5 g/kg humic substances (Farmagulator$^{(R)}$ Dry Plus) and 0.1 g/kg L-carnitine+1.5 g/kg humic substances, respectively. The experimental period lasted 18 weeks. Feeding supplemental carnitine, humic substances or carnitine+humic substances resulted in increases in body weight gain (p<0.05). Dietary treatments did not significantly affect daily feed intake, daily metabolizable energy intake, egg production, egg weight, feed efficiency, mortality, egg shape index, egg breaking strength, egg shell thickness, egg albumen index, egg yolk index, egg Haugh unit and the percentages of egg shell, albumen and yolk. Supplementation of humic substances reduced egg yolk cholesterol as mg per g yolk and mg per yolk (p<0.05). Blood serum parameters were not affected by the supplementation of carnitine, humic substances or carnitine+humic substances. The results in this study demonstrated that humic substances supplementation reduced egg cholesterol without adverse effects on performance, egg traits and blood parameters of laying hens. It was concluded that the usage of L-carnitine alone or in combination with humic substances in diets had no beneficial effects in laying hens.

The adsorption and decomposition of trimethylene oxide ($C_3H_6O$) molecule on the Al(111) surface were investigated by the generalized gradient approximation (GGA) of density functional theory (DFT). The calculations employed a supercell ($6{\times}6{\times}3$) slab model and three-dimensional periodic boundary conditions. The strong attractive forces between $C_3H_6O$ molecule and Al atoms induce the C-O bond breaking of the ring $C_3H_6O$ molecule. Subsequently, the dissociated radical fragments of $C_3H_6O$ molecule oxidize the Al surface. The largest adsorption energy is about -260.0 kJ/mol in V3, V4 and P2, resulting a ring break at the C-O bond. We also investigated the decomposition mechanism of $C_3H_6O$ molecules on the Al(111) surface. The activation energies ($E_a$) for the dissociations V3, V4 and P2 are 133.3, 166.8 and 174.0 kJ/mol, respectively. The hcp site is the most reactive position for $C_3H_6O$ decomposing.

Recently, various-shaped coastal structures have been studied and developed. Among them, the submerged breakwater became generally known as a more effective structure than other structures, bemuse it not only serves its original function, but also has the ability to preserve the coastal environment. Most previous investigations have been focused on the wave deformation and energy dissipation due to submerged breakwater, but less interest was given to their internal properties and dynamic behavior of the seabed foundation under wave loadings. In this study, a direct numerical simulation (DNS) is newly proposed to study the dynamic interaction between a permeable submerged breakwater aver a sand seabed and nonlinear waves, including wave breaking. The accuracy of the model is checked by comparing the numerical solution with the existing experimental data related to wave $\cdot$ permeable submerged breakwater $\cdot$ seabed interaction, and showed fairly nice agreement between them. From the numerical results, based on the newly proposed numerical model, the properties of the wave-induced pore water pressure and the flow in the seabed foundation are studied. In relation to their internal properties, the stability oj the permeable submerged breakwater is discussed.

Cobalt-incorporated zeolitic imidazolate framework ZIF-8 was synthesized by a simple one-pot synthesis method at room temperature. Powder X-ray diffraction patterns and energy dispersive X-ray spectrum confirmed the formation of the bimetallic Co/Zn-ZIF structure. UV-Vis diffuse reflectance spectra revealed that the bimetallic ZIF had a lower HOMO-LUMO gap compared with ZIF-8 due to the charge transfer process from organic ligands to cobalt centers. A hydrolytic stability test showed that Co/Zn-ZIF is very robust in aqueous solution - the most important criterion for any material to be applied in photodegradation. The photocatalytic efficiency of the synthesized samples was investigated over the Indigo Carmine (IC) dye degradation under solar simulated irradiation. Cobalt incorporated ZIF-8 exhibited high efficiency over a wide range of pH and initial concentration. The degradation followed through three distinct stages: a slow initial stage, followed by an accelerated stage and completed with a decelerated stage. Moreover, the photocatalytic performance of the synthesized samples was highly improved in alkaline environment rather than in acidic or neutral environments, which may have been because in high pH medium, the increased concentration of hydroxyl ion facilitated the formation of hydroxyl radicals, a reactive species responsible for the breaking of the Indigo Carmine structure. Thus, Co/Zn-ZIF is a promising and green material for solving the environmental pollution caused by textile industries.
