  • There are differences in preference according to the brand signal explicitness when selecting fashion luxury brand, and the purpose of this study is to verify the moderating effects of self-construal and implicit theory in relation to those preferences. This study divided the experiment design into two $2{\times}2$ mixed design studies: Study 1 and Study 2. The study 1 was composed of the following factors: brand signal explicitness(subtle vs. explicit signal) and self-construal(independent vs. interdependent self-construal). Study 2 was composed of the following factors: brand signal explicitness( subtle vs. explicit signal) and Implicit theory(entity vs. incremental theorist). Convenience sampling was conducted to find the subjects of study 1 and study 2. Study 1 analyzed data from 172 women in Seoul, Gyeonggi-do and Busan who prefer luxury brand, and study 2 used data from 138 women. The results of this study are as follows. 1) Independent self-construal primed group was shown to prefer subtle signal product to explicit signal product, whereas interdependent self-construal priming group preferred explicit signal product to subtle signal product. 2) The entity theorist to prefer explicit signal product to subtle signal product. On the other hand, the incremental theorist did not show significant difference in the preference between subtle and explicit signal products. Therefore, the results of the present study shown the importance of understanding consumers through the difference depending on consumer inclination and psychology, recommending preferred luxury brand according to the inclination of the target customers, and establishing segmented marketing strategy to captivate consumers with these various characteristics.

For this study the research directions are: 1. To find each impact of Country of Origin and Brand image which influence "the preference of imported luxury brand items". 2. To analyze the difference of "the effects of Country or Origin" which impacts product preference when consumers buy imported luxury branded goods, which have different purchasing risks. 3. To verify the difference of products' characteristics that have different purchasing risks through comparing the image of country of origin and brand. 4. To analyze and compare "the purchasing behavior of Korean consumers" for achieving research universality. In order to verify that those 4 factors (the images of country of origin, imported luxury brand, objective products' characteristics and prospective consumer's peculiarity) impact on product preferences & purchasing intention of consumers, the linear structural equation model was developed. • As generations Y and Z gain influence, luxury fashion brands are interacting with younger digital consumers through fashion film, seeking to offer them a differentiated brand experience. Using a literature review addressing characteristics of fashion films as a communication medium and luxury fashion brands' heritage in the digital era, this study examines how brands express their heritage through fashion film, categorizing those expressions in terms of implicit meaning. The case study analyzed films from Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Dior, and Burberry uploaded to YouTube between 2018 and 2020. First, to retain their status as luxury, brands emphasize historical legitimacy. Specifically, they highlight their iconic historical image, their succession of creative directors, valuable historic locations, and diversity of consumer's brand experiences. Second, by stressing craftsmanship, integrating contemporary art and local culture, and utilizing a museum aura, they use brand heritage to acquire luxury status. Third, they attempt to mythify the founders by creating the persona of the fashion designer and the artist. The results show that the heritage depicted in fashion films is a key way in which luxury fashion brands resolve the tension between accessibility and exclusivity that they encounter and to get consumers emotionally engaged with brands.

  • Luxury fashion brands, which have dominated the market of high-priced apparel, bags and shoes, are recently showing changes of stepping into the cosmetics market. The purpose of this study is to examine how luxury fashion brand identity is transferred to cosmetic brand while expanding into luxury cosmetic brand, and to analyze the plastic signs of cosmetic package design and to analyze visual identity through a semi-symbolic system. Therefore, in this study, we tried to analyze the visual semiotic analysis of the package design such as the cushion compact, the lip tint and the brand logo which appeared in the popular product line of the fashion luxury brand such as Yves Saint Laurent and Armani. As a result of the analysis, this study has identified the semantic qualities expressed by each plastic element through the visual semiotic analysis process of the cosmetic package of Yves Saint Laurent and Giorgio Armani. These traits were found to be used as visual signs to reveal the 'Classicism' identity pursued by Yves Saint Laurent and the 'Baroque' identity pursued by Armani. Based on the results of this study, this study finds that the brand identity as a fashion brand is not transferring to the visual identity of cosmetic brands in the case of Yves Saint Laurent. On the other hand, this study found that Armani uses visual communication strategies to effectively transfer the brand identity as a fashion brand to the visual identity of cosmetic brands. On these two different results, it is necessary to examine whether luxury fashion brands and also Korean fashion brands are expanding into the cosmetics market and how they can better grasp the existing brand identity and apply it to the communication strategies of cosmetics brands.
