In this paper, we propose uniform slot width bow-tie-shaped meander slot antenna for 5 GHz application. The conventional bow-tie slot antenna has broadband characteristic, however, its size is large. Meanwhile, the meander slot antenna has small size, but it has quite narrow bandwidth. The proposed antenna geometry is a variation of the meander slot antenna incorporating bow-tie shape to realize miniaturized antenna having relatively large bandwidth. Simulated results show that with the same slot width and total slot length, the bandwidth of the proposed antenna is 3 times wider than that of meander slot antenna, and its resonant frequency is 3.01 GHz lower than that of the equal size(H x V) bow-tie slot antenna, and measured results show that the bandwidth of proposed antenna is 218 MHz(5.142 GHz ~ 5.360 GHz) which satisfy the required bandwidth from 5.15 GHz to 5.35 GHz.

In this paper, a broadband series-fed bow-tie dipole pair (SBDP) antenna operating in the band of 1.7-2.7 GHz for mobile communication base station applications is proposed. The proposed antenna uses bow-tie-shaped dipole elements instead of straight strip dipole ones used in a conventional series-fed dipole pair (SDP) antenna. The simulation results show that the lowest operating frequency is shifted toward lower frequency as the flare angle increases, and so the lengths of the bow-tie dipole elements can be reduced in proportion to the frequency shift toward lower frequency. An SBDP antenna with a flare angle of 10 degrees is fabricated on an FR4 substrate (dielectric constant = 4.4 and thickness = 1.6 mm) and total width of the fabricated antenna is reduced by 10% compared to that of the conventional SDP antenna. The measured impedance bandwidth for voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) < 2 is 48.8% (1.69-2.78 GHz), gain is 5.8-6.3 dBi, and the front-to-back ratio (FBR) is 14-17 dB.

In this paper, a technique is presented for broadbanding the bow-tie slot antenna fed by a CPW(coplanar waveguide). The bandwidth performance of existing bow-tie slot designs is greatly enhanced by optimizing the slot shape and properly adjusting the characteristic impedance of the coplanar waveguide feeding the slot. To connect the 50-ohm input coaxial line to the CPW feed line, a linear taper in the CPW is employed. The designed antenna shows a 3.5 $\~$ 10.0 GHz impedance bandwidth, a 3.5 $\~$ 6.0 GHz pattern bandwidth, and a 5.5 $\~$ 7.5 dBi gain over 3.5 $\~$ 6.0 GHz. Above 6.0 GHz, the antenna radiation pattern appreciably deviates from the typical dipolar pattern.

Critical angle of quartz (R.I. ${\fallingdotseq}$ 1.553) and diamond (R.I. = 2.417) are $40.09^{\circ}$ and $24.26^{\circ}$ that calculated by $sin{\theta}=r_2/r_1$ (r = refractive index, $r_1$ > $r_2$). Brilliance of quartz and diamond are 20.33% and 55.07%. The brilliance data are result of study on the incident light internal round brilliant cut quartz and diamond by the critical angle. Cause of bow-tie phenomenon can be studied by application of critical angle theory and light path inside fancy shape brilliant cut. When refractormetry with typical gem refractometer, critical angle of quartz and corundum are $59.1^{\circ}$ and $77.9^{\circ}$.

This paper proposes a wideband monopole antenna with improved band rejection characteristics by inserting two band notch slots with half wavelength in radiator. The designed antenna is composed of bow-tie patch fed electromagnetically with parasitic ground patch of a semicircular shape. We obtained band rejection filter-like characteristics by controlling coupling amounts between two horizontal resonance slots. Using this technique, we achieved the broad rejection bandwidth and improved skirt characteristics compared with only one notch slot. The measured bandwidth is from 2.7 GHz to 6.9 GHz for VSWR below 2.0 except the limited band of $4.96{\sim}5.51GHz$. This antenna shows a similar radiation pattern of the ideal monopole and the radiation gain reduction is more than $5{\sim}10dB$ on the x-z plane at rejection frequency.

The end plates of fuel cell assemblies are used to fasten the inner stacks, reduce the contact pressure, and provide a seal between Membrane-Electrode Assemblies (MEAs). They therefore require sufficient mechanical strength to withstand the tightening pressure, light weight to obtain high energy densities, and stable chemical/electrochemical properties, as well as provide electrical insulation. The design criteria for end plates can be divided into three parts: the material, connecting method, and shape. In the past, end plates were made from metals such as aluminum, titanium, and stainless steel alloys, but due to corrosion problems, thermal losses, and their excessive weight, alternative materials such as plastics have been considered. Composite materials consisting of combinations of two or more materials have also been proposed for end plates to enhance their mechanical strength. Tie-rods have been traditionally used to connect end plates, but since the number of connecting parts has increased, resulting in assembly difficulties, new types of connectors have been contemplated. Ideas such as adding reinforcement or flat plates, or using bands or boxes to replace tie-rods have been proposed. Typical end plates are rectangular or cylindrical solid plates. To minimize the weight and provide a uniform pressure distribution, new concepts such as ribbed-, bomb-, or bow-shaped plates have been considered. Even though end plates were not an issue in fuel cell system designs in the past, they now provide a great challenge for designers. Changes in the materials, connecting methods, and shapes of an end plate allow us to achieve lighter, stronger end plates, resulting in more efficient fuel cell systems.

In this paper, we suggested a CPW-fed UWB antenna with uni-planar sectoral structure. The area where radiation device face ground is designed to have the shape of tapered slot based on exponential function. We modified a rectangular bow-tie dipole structure antenna and thus formed a multi-resonant mode. From this, we expanded the impedance bandwidth and made a feature satisfying VSWR of less than 2 between $3.1\sim10.6GHz$. The test result showed that the return loss less than -10 dB was met in the full-band UWB system and maximum gain of $0.9\sim3.1dB$ was made with the half-power beamwidth of $40.1\sim89.9^{\circ}$ on XY plane(Theta, $Phi=90^{\circ}$) and the full band. By using CPW-fed structure with no ground on the back of the substrate, the suggested antenna is easy to design and its miniaturization is also possible.
Purpose: In the present study, a difference in tear volume between the cornea and the rigid gas permeable (RGP) lens relative to corneal shape and corneal astigmatism was investigated by the alignment fitting status of spherical and aspherical RGP lenses. Methods: Spherical and aspherical RGP lenses were fitted with alignment in 77 subjects (135 eyes) who were in their 20~30s. Tear volume stained with fluorescein was qualitatively analyzed by dividing cornea into center, mid-peripheral and peripheral parts. Results: For the spherical RGP lens fitting, tear volume differences were found in each part in all corneal types. For the aspherical RGP lens fitting, tear volume differences were in each corneal part in symmetric bow tie- and asymmetric bow tie-type corneas. However, the tear was equally distributed from the center to the peripheral part in round- and oval-type corneas. In the group with corneal astigmatism lower than 1.25 D, tear volume between center and peripheral parts, and mid-peripheral and peripheral parts, was different when a spherical RGP lens was fitted. However, tear volume in each part was not different in the group with corneal astigmatism over 1.50 D. Moreover, the tear volumes of the central and mid-peripheral parts were proportionally increased with increasing corneal astigmatism in both spherical and aspherical RGP lenses. Furthermore, aspherical RGP lenses showed greater increments than spherical RGP lenses. Conclusions: The results revealed that the difference in tear volume between aspherical RGP lens and cornea was less than spherical RGP lens, and the difference in tear volume varied according to corneal shape and astigmatism. In addition, the method of measuring relative tear volume between RGP lens and cornea that was established in the present study can be used to evaluate tear volume between contact lens and cornea.

This study aimed to investigate the sociocultural phenomena which affected to clothing change in 1650-1900 and to examine the features of men's necktie in the western art. For this study, information about historic neckwear is obtained from the visual evidence of painted or engraved portraits, contemporary written sources. The covered area of this study was Europe mainly England and France. For this process, research steps were as follows : 1. Investigating the sociocultural phenomena which affect to clothing change through 1650-1900 and analysis of men's clothing and appearance. 2. Finding the changing characteristics of neckties including it's different types, shapes, knots, colors and materials and analyzing similarities and differences of neckties by the times. 3. Examining necktie as one of important and representative icons of male gender identity. The results of the study was as follows: 1. In 1660-1900, men's fashion was simplified in color and detail due to the influence of practical Puritanism and matured civil culture. And British men's fashion spreaded throughout whole European countries and get popularity. 2. In 1650-1720, there were band, cravat and steinkirk. And expecially cravatier, a expert custodian of cravats, was appeared in that period. In 1720-1800, there were stock, solitaire and cravat. In 1800-1850, neckwear were popularized and got various sizes and types up to shape and size of chemise collars. Black stock, scarf cravat and shawl cravat were popular and terms of 'necktie' were used for an certain neckcloth shape. And abundant literature for necktie were published thanks to the development of printing technology in that period. In 1851-1900, the leady-made neckties were spreaded and there were changes in shape, length, knot of necktie up to V-zone formed with shirt's collars and vest types. Neckwear was gradually evolving through four distinct styles, bow tie, scarf or neckerchief, Ascot and four-in-hand. 3. After the mid-l7th Century, as civil culture matured and splendid and extravagant colorful men's wear disappeared, British men's fashion spreaded throughout whole European countries and got popularity. The necktie become an essential ornamental accessory of men's fashion and one of important and representative icons of male gender identity.
