Since the release of mid-term domestic GHG goals until 2020, in 2009, some various GHG reduction policies have been proposed. There are two types of modeling approaches for identifying options required to meet greenhouse gas (GHG) abatement targets and assessing their economic impacts: top-down and bottom-up models. Examples of the bottom-up optimization models include MARKAL, MESSAGE, LEAP, and AIM, all of which are developed based on linear programming (LP) with a few differences in user interface and database utilization. In this paper, we suggest a simplified LP formulation and how can build it through step-by-step procedures.

This paper introduces a compact analytical current conduction model of long-channel depletion-mode n-type nanowire field-effect transistors (NWFETs). The NWFET used in this work was fabricated with the bottom-up process and it has a bottom-gate structure. The model includes all current conduction mechanisms of the NWFET operating at various bias conditions. The results simulated from the newly developed NWFET model reproduce a reported experimental results within a 10% error.
Petri nets have been introduced as a powerful analyzing and design tool for the discrete systems such as sequential control systems. However, one of the important problems in its applications is that the model can be analyzed hardly when we deal with large scale systems because of increase of the number of Petri net components. To overcome this problem, some methods for dividing or reducing of Petri net have been suggested. In this paper, an approach for hierarchical expression of Petri net based on Sequential function Chart(SFC) and Bottom Up oriented Mehodology(BUM) is proposed. Especially, some definitions and rules are defined in order to divide and compose sub Petri nets. A measuring tank system will be described as a typical kind of discrete systems and modeled by some sub Petri nets based on the SFC and BUM by the proposed method in this paper.

A marginal abatement cost analysis has been conducted to analyze the effects of abatement measures on greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions for the Korean residential sector. A bottom-up model using MESSAGE has been developed by defining the energy demand and constructing the reference energy system for the residential sector. A great amount of activity data has also been analyzed. Abatement potentials and related costs of individual abatement measures are investigated. The result from the marginal abatement cost analysis may provide general guidelines and procedures for the establishment of GHG abatement polices.

Saemaul Undong (SM U) initiated in Korea in the 1970's is widely acknowledged as a successful model for rural community development, despite its limitations. This paper investigates the success factors of the SMU model and the lessons thereof for Sam Sang Model of Lao PDR, which appears ineffective over the years. Results show that land reforms, social ties among villages, strong institutional support and leadership and incentive system as well as "top-down" and "bottom-up" development approaches are among the factors that significantly contributed to the success of the SMU. However, rural development program would not be effective if residents are unwilling to participate. Therefore, to successfully achieve rural community development in Lao PDR, the government should through the Sam Sang model employ top-down and bottom-up approaches to enhance local participation and address the exact needs of the local people.

Up-Propagation is an algorithm for inverting and learning neural network generative models. Sensory input is processed by inverting a model that generates patterns from hidden variables using top-down connections. The inversion process is iterative, utilizing a negative feedback loop that depends on an error signal propagated by bottom-up connections. The error signal is also used to learn the generative model from examples. the algorithm is benchmarked against principal component analysis in experiments on images of handwritten digits.

In this paper, we present a forecasting model for the spectrum demand which will be used for the mid/long-term spectrum forecasting in Korea. In specific, we present the bottom-up model with considering the customer not the previous top-down method. The Proposed model consists of service definition. classification of service characteristics, drawing representative service characteristic , forecasting of service demand, mapping with spectrum resource, verification and spectrum forecasting. The carried actions in each step is described in detail. For the validation of the model an example for the PCS environments is shown. traverse stepping stones for a variety of legitimate reasons.
This study aims at understanding the characteristics of global economic models, which are widely used for climate change policy analysis. A literature review study was conducted in order to derive general features of top-down models such as CGE and bottom-up/hybrid models such as GTEM. Furthermore, a structural analysis was carried out by applying parameter and structural components from other models to a particular model to observe the potential differences in outcomes. Literature review shows that bottom-up or hybrid models generally have higher level of reduction potentials than top-down models in the long run. This contradicts the conclusion presented by IPCC, and raises the need for more rigorous investigation through structural analysis. Structural analysis of EPPA model indicates that the structural component of the energy sector in a particular model is the most influential factor in predicting baseline emissions and reduction potentials. This includes the structure among energy, capital, and labor inputs, and the substitution elasticities within the energy bundle. Technology bundle can establish the conclusions from literature review, and change in Armington elasticities do not significantly affect the outcome in aggregate.
Recently, Korea aimed to increase water use efficiency by implementing integrated management according to the water management unification policy. Considering the enormous use of water resources in the agricultural sector, it is necessary to efficiently conserve water in terms of demand management by intensifying the stakeholders' involvement and awareness campaigns. The existing agricultural water management system in Korea is based on a top-down approach by which the government agencies directly plan budgets and policies to be enforced on and implemented by farmers, with little to no involvement of farmers in the decision-making process. However, this process has hindered the desired water resources management and the water conservation goal at the field level. Moreover, the limited research on water governance operations focusing on agricultural water creates a knowledge gap, particularly in Korea. Thus, it is necessary to investigate water governance cases with successful implementations in agricultural and rural areas to identify the factors applicable to domestic governance in Korea. In addition, a more systematic governance model should be established by identifying the subjectivity of the stakeholders' involvement in agricultural water governance. Therefore, this study proposed a new bottom-up model for agricultural water governance, which aims to raise the problem of autonomous water governance while promoting stakeholders' voluntary participation in agricultural water management and reflecting farmers' involvement in the decision-making process. Moreover, if agricultural water governance is expanded nationwide by reflecting agricultural and water resource policies in the future, it is believed that positive effects can be achieved in increasing utilization efficiency and securing sustantiality through agricultural water saving.
