This study develops a business ethics education program and verifies its effects through the implementation of a program for fashion companies. Questionnaires obtained from 161 fashion companies were submitted for an analysis of the education needs of business ethics components using the Borich's Needs Assessments Model and the Locus for Focus model. The business ethics component in the highest rank of the education need was 'promoting social contribution (PSC)'. An education program of PSC was developed based on the problem-based learning method and was implemented for 180 minutes on the CEOs or managerial board members of eleven fashion companies. Education participants showed an improvement in the perceptions of the business ethics component after the education seminar. The self-efficacy and the education effect perceived by participants were maintained 70 days after education. Purpose: This study aimed to identify the needs for the managerial competencies of nurse managers in general hospitals. Methods: A cross-sectional design was used. The participants were 203 nurse managers, 141 head nurses or unit managers, and 62 directors or team managers from 17 general hospitals. Data were collected by a self-administered questionnaire with 42 nursing management competencies and 181 behavioral indicators. Participants rated the importance and performance of each indicator. Data were analyzed using a paired t-test, independent t-test, importance-performance analysis, Borich's needs assessment model, and locus for focus model. Results: In all 42 competencies, importance was rated significantly higher than performance. The head nurses or unit managers had high demands for "human resource development," "performance management," and "information management," while the directors or team managers had high demands for "change management." Competencies in high demand in both groups were "development of nursing standards" and "self-management." Conclusion: Based on the results, it is necessary to select priorities and prepare educational content when developing educational programs to strengthen the nursing management competencies of general hospitals' nurse managers.
The objectives of this study were (1) to determine the rank of purposes of Korean secondary school home economics education related to three systems of action: technical, communicative, and emancipatory action by home economics(HE) teachers and HE teacher educators, (2) to compare differences between HE teachers and HE teacher educators concerning the degree of importance and achievement of the purposes of current Korean secondary school HE education. Respondents in this study were 225 HE teachers and 35 HE teacher educators. The survey method was used in this descriptive study. To determine the rank, Borich's needs assessment model was used. Purpose: Recently, various accidents and incidents occurred in our school environment, making it necessary to enhance teachers' competency in school safety management. To this end, this study was conducted to analyze the needs of teachers related to school safety management competency development. Methods: For this purpose, the existing teacher's task analysis related to school safety management was revised and surveys were conducted to measure teachers' present level, expectative level and importance of the items based on the task analysis. To analyze the data, Borich Needs Assessment and The Locus for Focus Model were used. Results: In the t-test between the teachers' present level and expectative level about school safety management, all 39 tasks were related (p<.001). The priorities in developing teachers' competency in school safety management were found to be the 6 tasks listed below: 'To deal with each type of accident,' 'To implement CPR and defibrillator,' 'To use fire extinguishers and fire hydrants,' 'To use descending life lines,' 'To give first aid,' and 'To cope with elevator accidents.' Conclusion: By utilizing the results of the teacher's competency and need assesment as components, teachers' training programs can be made more applicable to the school setting. In addition, more experience-based programs should be considered when designing teachers' training programs in order to apply the priority found from the teacher's need assessment.
