The applications of ratio and similarity have been in need of everyday life from ancient times. Euclid's elements Ⅴand Ⅵ cover ratio and similarity respectively. In this note, we have done a comparative analysis to button down the contents of ratio and similarity covered by the math text books used in Korea, Euclid's elements and the math text books used in Japan and America. As results, we can observe some differences between them. When math text books used in Korea introduce ratio, they presented it by showing examples unlike math text books used in America and Japan which present ratio by explaining the definition of it. In addition, in the text books used in Korea and Japan, the order of dealing with condition of similarity of triangles and the triangle proportionality is different from that of the text books used in America. Also, condition of similarity of triangles is used intuitively as postulate without any definition in text books used in Korea and Japan which is different from America's. The manner of teaching depending on the way of introducing learning contents and the order of presenting them can have great influence on student's understanding and application of the learning contents. For more desirable teaching in math it is better to provide text books dealing with various learning contents which consider student's diverse abilities rather than using current text books offering learning contents which are applied uniformly.
This is a preliminary study in order to deal intensively with the overall characteristics of Korean military science in the future days. First off, the history of military science of China based on the precedent studies was recapitulated, and a comparative study on the acceptance process of the books on military art and science, as well as on understanding patterns of literati on the subject through literature searches, ranging from the Three Kingdoms Period to the Goryeo Dynasty in Korean peninsula, was conducted. In case of Korea, the Chinese books on military strategy, including Sun Tzu's the Art of War, had already been passed down during the Three Kingdoms Period, and broadly read by scholarly people. They had utilized diverse methods based on their knowledge of Confucianism. In the reference materials, the authors of Korean military strategy books had greatly relied upon the Chinese books on military strategies, however, they had made the military principles run in their own way. At the end of Goryeo Dynasty, 'Military Science' had been well established as a subject in academia, and this curriculum had been taught not only at the National Confucian Academy, Seonggyun-gwan, in the capital but also at the country public school ("Hyanggyo") in the province together with Confucianism. Because of the limits of reference materials, however, it was difficult to confirm whether or not such strategic experiences were actually led to the publication of the books on military art and science, or how many books on military strategies and tactics had been published up until the end of Goryeo Dynasty. But, the facts that there were not many publications of the books on military strategies during the era of Three Kingdoms and of Goryeo Dynasty don't mean that Korean military science had entirely relied upon the Chinese military art and science. For instance, such strategies, tactics and leaderships as exhibited in the process of the Great Victory at Salsu River ("Salsu Daecheop") achieved by General Eulji Mun-deok, as well as the Great Victory at Gwiju ("Gwiju Daecheop") achieved by General Kang Gam-chan could never happen by chance.
The purpose of this study is to review two books on the history of Korean literature written in Japanese, taking special interest in ancient Korean literature, examining transcultural patterns between the history of North and South Korean literature and that of Japanese literature, and thereby identifying perceptions and description patterns of the history of Korean literature from the perspective of comparative literature. This study analyzes two books with the same title The History of Joseon Literature written in Japanese by Kim Dongwook and Byeon Jaesoo. The two books are not translations of Korean books but were written in Japanese for Japanese and ethnic Korean readers in Japan. The History of Joseon Literature (1974) by Kim Dongwook mainly compares Joseon literature with Japanese literature. The History of Joseon Literature (1985) by Byeon Jaesoo, an ethnic North Korean in Japan, was written from socialistic perspectives. The two books have different standards for evaluating value of the history of Joseon literature and different perceptions about it. Due to the division between North and South Korea, the history of literature is unfolding in different ways in the two Koreas, and the two books reflect such differences. However, they have several common features. For example, they highly regard the value of literature written in Chinese characters and originality of hangga (a folk song of Silla), Hangeul (the Korean alphabet), and pansori (a form of Korean folk music in which a singer accompanied by a supportive drummer sings and chants an epic story). In addition, they both demonstrated that literature written in Hangeul and that written in Chinese characters interacted with each other as the same Korean literature. When the two books were written, the history of Korean literature had been considered a subunit of the history of East Asian or Chinese literature. However, as this study found, Kim and Byeon wrote the two books from a perspective of departing from this view based on nationalism, re-establishing the value of Korean literature, promoting Japanese people's understanding of the high quality of Korean literature, and imbuing ethnic Koreans in Japan with nationalistic pride.
This research is based on the design of pictures in picture books, and the spatial representation of illustrations in the picture books contains the significantly important objective. Various texts, pictures, spaces, etc. in a picture must have the operator's various editing skills so that spatial arrangement is made smoothly.In this paper, the characteristics of spatial expression of design in picture books are derived by analyzing several examples of paintings and studies on classic picture books. First, the fusion of picture and text, that is, that both picture and text convey spatial information together as elements of the screen. Second, as a characteristic of the coherence of the space design in picture books, the story and content must be smoothly connected when reading the book. Third, when expressing a space, the creator should utilize the strengths and weaknesses of each other between abstract and conceived spatial expressions as needed. Fourth, as a symbolic feature of picture book spatial expression, it can be seen that many symbolic expression techniques are applied to the spatial expression of picture books according to the semiotic principle, which greatly improves the cognitive efficiency of reading picture books. The fifth characteristic is that the spatial expression of an excellent picture book has excellent interesting element, rich design means, and interestingly conveys screen contents and screen format to readers. In this research, it is thought that designers and artists should guide the creation within a spatial framework as designing picture books, thus greatly improving the efficiency of the creation process, while also provide a reader-centered visual Interesting experience.
In order to aide in the design of an improved menu book, which could play an important role as a marketing tool, the current version of the menu books and managers (subjects) of 295 restaurants in the Incheon area were examined. These were managers of Korean (36.3%), Western (25.8%), Japanese (14.6%), cafeteria (12.5%) and Chinese (10.8%) style restaurants. The level of service (self-evaluation, 3-point scale) was average $2.25{\pm}0.45$. The general colorings of the menu books were green (19.0%), brown (18.6%), black (17.6%), yellow (15.9%), red (13.6%) and blue (13.2%). The material of the menu book cover was mainly leather (35.9%), and the internal material was mainly coated paper (59.7%). Physically, the design was two-panel fold (38.3%), two-panel multi-page (35.6%), die style (10.2%), single panel (8.1%) and tent style (7.8%). The type sizes were unchanged in 49.9% of the menu books and in 61.7% photos were not used. 53.9% of menu books did not explain the menus, and 13.2% did not classify the items into groups. Emphasis of profit-making menus was not done in 66.8%. 51.5% of menu books were irreplaceable in parts. The emphasis of profit-making menus was less among the Korean style restaurants (p<0.001). The possibility of partial replacement of menu books was lower in both Korean and Chinese restaurants (p<0.001). The explanation of the items was lower in the Japanese restaurants (p<0.001). The classification of items into groups was lower in cafeteria (p<0.001). In cases in which there were both seasonal and event menus, the possibility of partial replacements of menu books was higher (p<0.001). Restaurants of which service level was less than ordinary were lower in the differentiation of type sizes (p<0.001), the use of photos (p<0.001), the explanation of menus (p<0.001), the classification of menus by groups (p<0.05), the emphasis of profit-making menus (p<0.001) and the possibility of partial replacement of menu books (p<0.001). If these study findings are applied to the designing of menu books, the role of the menu book as an important tool for marketing could be greatly improved.

In order to develop a picture book for desirable eating habits of young children, the contents of nutrition education in picture books were analyzed. A total of 128 picture books were analyzed: 42 picture books from the Nuri-curriculum teacher's guide (Nuri), 40 picture books recommended by the National Library for Children & Young Adults (NLCY), and 46 picture books published by the Center for Children's Food-service Management (CCFM). As a result of analysis of dietary guidelines for Koreans, the item that appeared most frequently in picture books was 'Consume a variety of foods every day' (28.91%). The second most common dietary guidelines in the picture books was 'Enjoy a diet that incorporates local ingredients and is environmentally conscious' (21.88%). As a result of examining the main goal of 'eating right' in the Nuri Curriculum, 'healthy food' accounted for 36.72% and 'eating a variety of food' accounted for 30.47%. 'Eating with the right attitude' 4.69%, 'valuing food' 3.13%, and 'dining etiquette' 6.25% were low. Therefore, it is necessary to develop and distribute picture books that reflect the contents that are insufficient.

This study investigates Kim Inhue's view of reading through the analysis of reference books in Haseo-Chunjib(하서전집). As the result, he had read 123 different books ar least. He had quoted frequently $Sish{\bar{u}}$$S{\bar{a}}nj{\bar{i}}ng$(사서삼경), $Sh{\check{i}}ji$(사기), $H{\grave{a}}nsh{\bar{u}}$(한서), $Zhu{\bar{a}}ngz{\check{i}}$(장자), $G{\check{u}}wenzh{\bar{e}}nb{\check{a}}o$(고문진보), $Ch{\check{u}}c{\acute{i}}$(초사), $W{\acute{e}}nxu{\check{a}}n$(문선). He had read books beyond the contemporary(sixteen centurtry) scholar's common list, and had enjoyed reading over the boundaries of stereotyped idea. While he had emphasized on the scripture of Confucian, had earned more knowledges for usefulness and the bases of scholarly writings by reading a wide spectrum of books.
Objectives : The purpose of this study is To to study as reference (Ed note: 'study as reference' is awkward and unclear) for practical application in clinics, examine the procedure of historical changes and compare components and their doses of herbal medicines, which are recorded in Chapter Sinmun Jeongan of "Donguibogam". Methods : I examined 23 Herb Medicines in Chapter Sinmun Jeongan of "Donguibogam". Fourteen books, which were noted in Chapter Sinmun Jeongan of "Donguibogam" and 14 books were mentioned in the same part of "Uibujeonrok", which were selected as reference. Results and Conclusions : Fourteen documents were referred to as the 23 Herb Medicines in Chapter Sinmun Jeongan of "Donguibogam". A total of 21 Herb Medicines were recorded in the source book, but 2 Herb Medicines were not recorded. Eleven Herb Medicines among 21 were recorded in the source book, which were directly quoted from the firstly appeared books and 10 Herb Medicines were re-quoted from other books that succeeded the source books. I suspect that the components and dosages of the Herb Medicines were revised, according to the author's clinical experience and circumstances.

This study reviews the rating system of hotels and restaurants regulated by french gouvernment and compares the french guide books of worldwide reputaion : Guide rouge of Michelin and Guide France of Gault-Millau. The apparatus of gouvernment and the inspectors deciding the grades, the processes and the prior conditions needed for obtaining the adequate grades are mentioned. So it will be a help to understand the present system of hotels and restaurants in France. The publishing firms like Michelin and Gault-Millau not only encourage the trvel and F & B industry by estimating the hotels and restaurants and publishing the results, but also informe the consumer. Ultimately, the guide books would like to play an important role in improving or making better the levels of the tourism and the gastronomy. They support continuously the publishing of guide books with the qualified persons and financial aid. Especially, Michelin doesn't insert the advertisement in his publications. In publishing the guide books, it can be one of the most important points for proving his independence of hoteliers, restaurateurs and the others. The seconde point is impartial, clear and rigid inspection that doesn't admit any corruption. Now is the moment in korea to promote the tourism and the gastronomy by publishing the credible books like 「Guide rouge」 and 「Guide France」in order to present Korean attrations and epicurean foods.
Objectives : Nomenclature for medical terminology is the most important point in traditional medical standardization. For example, standard nomenclature for acupuncture points, herbal medicines and prescriptions have been treated. However, studies on standard nomenclature for traditional medical books are rare. Methods : Following up all articles in Journal of Korean Medical Classics[JKMC], which have romanized name for medical books and analyzing problems of those. Results : There were so several methods to write in romanized character even to unique and replaceable name. Conclusions : Romanized nomenclature for medical book as a terminology must have unique expression. So we suggest that authors to write articles have to use unique romanized nomenclature for medical books and books published in a certain country should be written in romanized characters with their own languages.
