  • The effect of the surface profile on CFRP and aluminum metal bonding was studied. A small number of steps were made on the aluminum surface, and the shear stress and elongation were measured using a shear test after bonding with an autoclave method. As the number of surface steps increased, the shear stress and elongation increased. The surface bonding strength increased because of the effect of the mechanical and chemical bonding. When the number of effective stages was exceeded, the shear strength decreased again due to the aspect ratio of the step and the reduction of the penetration effect of the resin into the groove.

  • A reinforced concrete structure is complex structure that works as one body with bonding role of steel bar and concrete. The bonding action between steel bar and concrete makes possible the compound structure. The transmission of mutual strength of the steel bar with concrete in structure is determined by the bonding characteristic of steel bar and concrete surface. But the efficiency of bonding characteristic of steel bar is Questionable by the corrosion cause by the delay construction term, the wrong management, etc. So this study investigate bonding characteristic of reinforced concrete using pull-out test method which steel bar removed rust and the principal variables of this study are concrete compression strength and the degree of corrosion. The result showed that bonding strength tend to increase when removed rust of steel bar whereas it tend to decrease when not removed rust.

  • This study aims to derive the optimal condition that ensures the monolithicity of ultra-high performance concrete (UHPC), through the evaluation of bonding shear performance with respect to the time of cold joint occurrence during the placement. From the direct shear test, while the normalized bonding shear strength reduction of UHPC with the delay time of 15 minutes was the lowest at around 8%, a dramatic degradation of bonding shear performance was observed after 15 minutes. XRD analysis of the middle and surface sections was performed in order to analyze the composition of the thin film formed at the surface of UHPC, and as a result, the main ingredient appeared to be SiO2 from the XRD pattern of middle and surface sections, which is believed to be the result of the rising of SiO2-based filler, used as anadmixture in this study, toward the surface, due to its low specific gravity.

  • In the present day, the needs of new steel for lightweight car-body have been increased in the automotive industry. however, the resistance spot welding is difficult to apply to the new steel because of the narrow weld current range and defects. As the solutions to these problems, adhesive bonding process is proposed. Adhesive bonding which reduce noise and vibration can be applied to joining the new steel. In this study, crash tests of b-pillar applied the resistance spot welding, structural adhesive bonding, the mixture of the structural adhesives and resistance spot welding were performed. And FEM crash model for b-pillar applied the structural adhesive bonding was developed. The results of experiment and analysis on b-pillar crash test were compared to verify the validity.

  • This paper describes anodic bonding characteristics of MCA to Si-wafer using evaporated Pyrex #7740 glass thin-films for MEMS applications. Pyrex #7740 glass thin-films with the same properties were deposited on MCA under optimum RF sputter conditions (Ar 100 %, input power $1\;W/cm^2$). After annealing at $450^{\circ}C$ for 1 hr, the anodic bonding of MCA to Si-wafer was successfully performed at 600 V, $400^{\circ}C$ in $110^{-6}$ Torr vacuum condition. Then, the MCA/Si bonded interface and fabricated Si diaphragm deflection characteristics were analyzed through the actuation and simulation test. It is possible to control with accurate deflection of Si diaphragm according to its geometries and its maximum non-linearity being 0.05-0.08 %FS. Moreover, any damages or separation of MCNSi bonded interfaces did not occur during actuation test. Therefore, it is expected that anodic bonding technology of MCNSi-wafers could be usefully applied for the fabrication process of high-performance piezoelectric MEMS devices.

  • Purpose: We sought to understand why a high-speed rotating projectile featuring a fuze-and-body assembly sometimes exhibited airburst, and we intended to improve the flight stability by eliminating airburst. Methods: We performed characteristic factor analysis, structural mechanics modeling, and dynamic modeling and simulation; and we scheduled firing tests to discover the cause of airburst. We used a step-by-step procedure to analyze the reliability function for selecting the bonding force standard that prevents airburst. Results: The 00MM high-speed rotating projectile features a fuze bonded to a body assembly; the bonding sometimes can break on firing. The resulting contact force, vibration and roll damping during flight generated yaw. Flight became unstable; fuze operation triggered an airburst. Our reliability test improved the bonding force standard (the force was increased). When the bonding force was at least the minimum required, a firing test revealed that airburst/flight instability disappeared. Conclusion: Analysis and identification of the causes of flight instability and airburst render military training safer and enhance combat power. Ammunition must perform as designed. Our method can be used to set standards that improve the performances of similar types of ammunition.

  • The quantitative interfacial adhesion energy of the Cu-Cu direct bonding layers was evaluated in terms of the bonding temperature and Ar+$H_2$ plasma treatment on Cu surface by using a 4-point bending test. The interfacial adhesion energy and bonding quality depend on increased bonding temperature and post-annealing temperature. With increasing bonding temperature from $250^{\circ}C$ to $350^{\circ}C$, the interfacial adhesion energy increase from $1.38{\pm}1.06$ $J/m^2$ to $10.36{\pm}1.01$ $J/m^2$. The Ar+$H_2$ plasma treatment on Cu surface drastically increase the interfacial adhesion energy form $1.38{\pm}1.06$ $J/m^2$ to $6.59{\pm}0.03$ $J/m^2$. The plasma pre-treatment successfully reduces processing temperature of Cu to Cu direct bonding.

  • The success of a porcelain fused to metal (PFM) restoration depends upon the quality of the porcelain-metal bond. The adhesion between metal substructure and dental porcelain is related to the diffusion of oxygen to the reaction layer formed on cast-metal surface during firing. The purposed of this investigation was to study the effects of gold based bonding agent on Ni-Cr alloy-ceramic adhesion between porcelain matrix, gold based bonding agent and metal substructure interface. gold based bonding agent have been applied as an intermediate layer between a metal substructure and a ceramic coating. gold based bonding agent(Aurofilm NP, Metalor, Swiss) was applied on Ni-Cr alloy surface by four method. Surfaces only air abraded with 110${\beta}\neq$ Al2O3 particles were used as control. metal ceramic adhesion was evaluated by a biaxial flexure test(N=5) and volume fraction of adherent porcelain was determined by SEM/EDS analysis. Result of this study suggest that the layering sequence of gold based bonding agent is very important and can improve porcelain adherence to PFM.

  • To investigate the properties of diffusion bonding of 7050 Al alloy, the diffusion bonding joints have been produced in self-made diffusion bonding hot-press which admits a defined application of the bonding pressure during the heating phase and also rapid cooling after the bonding process with various bonding condition. The strength of the bond increases with increasing the bonding time and temperature. Shear test at toom temperature showed that high strength up to 70% that of parent metal (320 MPa), 220 MPa for the specimen bonded 14 hr at $560^{\circ}C$, with 3 MPa. In this case, however, there is large deformation more than 20% reduction in thickness. The results were correlated with joint characteristics found by optical microstructure and by fractography by SEM. When the strengths of the bonds are more than 50% that of parent metal, a great deal of dimples stretched along the direction of shear stress are observed over the fractured surface of the bond. On the microstructure of the bond line, initial mophology of the bond line disapeared for the grain boundary migration with increasing the bonding time.

  • The effect of COG bonding parameters, especially the bonding temperature, on the bonding quality and reliability was investigated in this paper. We measured the bubble area formed in the ACF resin during the bonding process and tried to investigate the relationship between bubble area and bonding peel strength. 85/85 test which exposes a sample to a 85% humidity and $85^{\circ}C$ temperature condition was also carried out. The bubble area was dramatically increased under ~$10^{\circ}C$ lower than recommended bonding temperature. The bubble area formed at the edge of IC chip was larger than the other parts of IC chip. But the peel strength was not associated with the bubble area. High temperature and humid condition made the bubble area larger, but we could not find clear trend of change in the peel strength.
