  • A new implementation of Block Adaptive filter in frequency domain is presented in this paper. Block digital filtering involves the calculation of a block or finite set of filter out put from a block of input values. A fast convergence algorithm of block adaptive filter is developed using Gordar theory and compared with the performance results of Satio algorithm and BLMS algorithm. Form the result we can be shown that the convergence state of given algorithm is not only faster than BLMS algorithm but also the resulting convergence error is less than the convergence error of Satio algorithm.

  • In this paper, we propose an adaptive beamforming algorithm for array antenna. The proposed beamforming algorithm, based on Block LMS (Block - Least Mean Squares) algorithm, has a variable step size from coefficient update. This method shows some advantages that the convergence speed is fast and the calculation time can reduced using a block LMS algorithm from frequency domain. As the adaptive parameter approaches a stationary state, it could reduce the number of filter coefficient update with the help of various step size. In this paper we compared the efficiency of the proposed algorithm with a standard LMS algorithm which is a representative method of adaptive beamforming.

  • In this paper, we present a new cost function for subband block adaptive algorithm and block conjugate gradient algorithm for noise cancellation of acoustic signal. For the cost function, we process the subband signals with data blocks for each subbands and recombine it a whole data block. After these process, the cost function has a quadratic form in adaptive filter coefficients, it guarantees the convergence of the suggested block conjugate gradient algorithm. And the block conjugate gradient algorithm which minimizes the suggested cost function has better performance than the case of full-band block conjugate gradient algorithm, the computer simulation results of noise cancellation show the efficiency of the suggested algorithm.

  • In this paper, a new bilateral frame rate up-conversion algorithm using adaptive overlapped block motion compensation is proposed. In this algorithm, the adaptive overlapped block motion compensation is based on the motion complexity of the reference region. As the motion complexity is determined by the size of the previously coded motion estimation prediction, the overlapped block motion compensation method is selected without any additional computational complexity. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm provides better image quality than conventional methods both objectively and subjectively.

  • In this paper, we propose a fast motion estimation algorithm using adaptive elimination of sub-block partial coefficients. The proposed algorithm predicts an adaptive threshold for each sub-block by using relationship of an initial sum of absolute difference(SAD) and a minimum SAD at the current point, and efficiently reduces unnecessary calculation time of the conventional partial distortion elimination(PDE) algorithm with the predicted threshold. Our algorithm reduces about 60% of computations of the conventional PDE algorithm without any degradation of prediction quality compared with the con ventional full search. Additionally, the proposed algorithm can be applied to other fast motion estimation 떠gorithms. the proposed Our proposing algorithm will be useful to real-time video coding applications using MPEG-2 or MPEG-4 AVC standards.

  • In this paper, we propose a band stop filter(BSF) for reducing drag-like effect of the low pass filter(LPF), a block by block adaptive filtering method, and a motion adaptive filtering method, which show better results in terms of PSNR or human visual perception compared to the conventional method using LPF. The BSF improves the draglike effects of the low pass filter by passing temporal high frequency components of video sequences which correspond to objects with large motion. The proposed adaptive methods also improve the conventional adaptive filtering by modifying the conventional algorithm and applying the algorithms for small blocks. The simulation results show that the proposed filtering methods show better results in terms of PSNR and subjective tests in most cases. Also in case of block by block adaptive filtering, it is verified that the application of the algorithm for smaller block gives better results.

  • We present a fast adaptive block matching algorithm using variable search area and subsampling to estimate motion vector more exactly. In the presented method, the block is classified into one of three motion categories: zero motion vector block, medium-motion bolck or high-motion block according to mean absolute difference of the block. By the simulation, the computation amount of the presented methoe comparable to three step search algorithm and new three step search algorithm. In the fast image sequence, the PSNR of our algorithm increased more than TSS and NTSS, because our algorithm estimated motion vector more accurately.

  • When it calculates the optimum price of filter coefficient, the many operation quantity is necessary. Is like that the real-time control is difficult and the hardware embodiment expense is big. The case which does not know advance information of input signal or the case where the statistical nature changes with change of surroundings environment is necessary the adaptive filter. Every hour to change a coefficient automatically and system in order to reach to the condition of optimum oneself, the fact that is the adaptive filter. When it does not the quality of input signal or it does not know the environment of surroundings every hour changing, it does not emit not to be, in order to collect, the fact that is the adaptive filter. The case of the Acoustic Echo Canceler does thousands filter coefficients in necessity. It reduces a many calculation quantity to respect, it uses the IIR filter from hour territory. Also it uses the block adaptive filter which has a block input signal and a block output signal. The former there is a weak point where the stability discrimination is always demanded. Consequently, The block adaptive filter is researched plentifully. This dissertation planned the block MADF adaptive filter used to MADf algorithm.

  • In object tracking using the block mating algorithm, it is not proper to use a fixed matching block to track an object of which size may be various and can be changed at any time. This paper defines an adaptive matching block for the dynamic environment and proposes a block matching algorithm for it. The matching block is composed of a main-block of $10{\times}10$ pixels and 8 sub-blocks of $6{\times}6$ pixels in a wide area of $42{\times}42$ pixels, the main-block located its center is used as an object block, and the sub-blocks located its boundary are used as candidates for the object block. The proposed algorithm extracts the object blocks from the sub-blocks by using their motion vectors for 10 previous frames and performs the block matching with the main block and them. The experiments for perform estimation show that the proposed algorithm extracts just valid object blocks from the matching block and keeps an object having free movement in image center area.

  • We propose an efficient block least-mean-square (BLMS) adaptive algorithm, in conjunction with error control coding, for direct-sequence code division multiple access (DS-CDMA) systems. The proposed adaptive receiver incorporates decision feedback detection and channel encoding in order to improve the performance of the standard LMS algorithm in convolutionally coded systems. The BLMS algorithm involves two modes of operation: (i) The training mode where an uncoded training sequence is used for initial filter tap-weights adaptation, and (ii) the decision-directed where the filter weights are adapted, using the BLMS algorithm, after decoding/encoding operation. It is shown that the proposed adaptive receiver structure is able to compensate for the signal-tonoise ratio (SNR) loss incurred due to the switching from uncoded training mode to coded decision-directed mode. Our results show that by using the proposed adaptive receiver (with decision feedback block adaptation) one can achieve a much better performance than both the coded LMS with no decision feedback employed. The convergence behavior of the proposed BLMS receiver is simulated and compared to the standard LMS with and without channel coding. We also examine the steady-state bit-error rate (BER) performance of the proposed adaptive BLMS and standard LMS, both with convolutional coding, where we show that the former is more superior than the latter especially at large SNRs ($SNR\;\geq\;9\;dB$).
