생물체의 정보소통전략에 대한 언어학적 접근 (A Linguistic Approach to Communication Strategies of Biological Systems)

  • The completion of the Human Genome Project that identified all 3 billion base pairs in the human genome can be seen as a step towards understanding the relay of information and intention within an organism, or in other words, the language of life. The faculty of human language, key to differentiating humans from other animate species, works for conveying information to others by mapping meaning to sound based on syntactic structures. This resemblance between life and language has not gone unnoticed; the literature on RNA transcription and translation research regularly uses linguistic metaphors and the biolinguistic perspective of language has also been studied. By examining the biological characteristics of language and the linguistic characteristics of life, this study aims to identify key mechanisms shared between the two systems in order to promote a stronger connection between them. It furthers this goal by pointing out two general messages to which these mechanisms aim, productivity and accuracy, and discovers what lesson these messages give to a human society geared for sustainability.

A Study on the Security Technology of Real-time Biometric Data in IoT Environment

  • In this paper, the biometric data is transmitted in real time from the IoT environment is runoff, forgery, alteration, prevention of the factors that can be generated from a denial-of-service in advance, and the security strategy for the biometric data to protect the biometric data secure from security threats offer. The convenience of living in our surroundings to life with the development of ubiquitous computing and smart devices are available in real-time. And is also increasing interest in the IOT. IOT environment is giving the convenience of life. However, security threats to privacy also are exposed for 24 hours. This paper examines the security threats to biological data to be transmitted in real time from IOT environment. The technology for such security requirements and security technology according to the analysis of the threat. And with respect to the biometric data transmitted in real time on the IoT environment proposes a security strategy to ensure the stability against security threats and described with respect to its efficiency.

  • 본 바이오데이터들이 홍수처럼 쏟아지면서 컴퓨터를 활용해 해결해야 할 많은 문제들이 야기되고 있다. 생체분자들과 연관된 정보들을 대량으로 분석하는 전산기술 응용분야인 생명정보학은 학제간 학문분야로서 현재 확고히 자리매김하고 있으며. 구조생물학, 유전체학, 단백질체학, 시스템 생물학, 생물통계학 및 전산학 등 광범위한 학문영역을 포괄한다. 본 총설에서는 생명정보학에 대한 최근 상황과 전반적인 응용분야에 대해 소개하고자 한다. 일반적으로 널리 사용되는 생명정보 및 바이오데이터베이스들의 유형을 살펴보고, 전산학 분야와 긴밀한 관계가 있는 몇가지 생명정보학 응용 분야들을 다루고자 한다.

GIS AND WEB-BASED DSS FOR PRELIMINARY TMDL DEVELOPMENT

  • TMDL development and implementation have great potential fur use in efforts to improve water quality management, but the TMDL approach still has several difficulties to overcome in terms of cost, time requirements, and suitable methodologies. A well-defined prioritization approach for identifying watersheds of concern among several tar-get locations that would benefit from TMDL development and implementation, based on a simple screening approach, could be a major step in solving some of these difficulties. Therefore, a web-based decision support system (DSS) was developed to help identify areas within watersheds that might be priority areas for TMDL development. The DSS includes a graphical user interface based on the HTML protocol, hydrological models, databases, and geographic information system (GIS) capabilities. The DSS has a hydrological model that can estimate non-point source pollution loading based on over 30 years of daily direct runoff using the curve number method and pollutant event mean concentration data. The DSS provides comprehensive output analysis tools using charts and tables, and also provides probability analysis and best management practice cost estimation. In conclusion, the DSS is a simple, affordable tool for the preliminary study of TMDL development via the Internet, and the DSS web site can also be used as an information web server for education related to TMDL.

  • 본 연구를 통해 가는나방과의 Cameraria속(屬)이 우리나라에서 처음으로 보고되며, 본 속(屬)의 3종 이 한국미기록종으로 기록된다. 본 연구에서 보고되는 모든 종에 대한 분류 및 기주식물 정보를 종합하여 정리하였으며 성충 및 생식기의 특징을 도해와 함께 재기재하였다.

Application of molecular biology methods to identify species of animal bones excavated from archaeological sites: focusing on the case of Bonghwang-dong, Gimhae

  • People have lived with and used animals for various purposes since the Paleolithic age. Therefore, animal bone research is interesting because it can infer the status of use, determine species, and ascertain the uses of animals that lived at the time. An analysis of ancient DNA was attempted to identify the species of ancient animal bones excavated from an archaeological site. Twelve animal bones from the Geumgwan Gaya period, excavated in Bonghwang-dong, Gimhae, were used in this study. After extracting DNA from the sample, polymerase chain reaction (PCR) gene amplification was performed. Species-specific primers of livestock groups such as pig, cattle, and deer were selected and used. This livestock group was a major source of protein for people who lived on the Korean Peninsula at that time. As a result, 11 sample species were identified. This study is contributes to the restoration of past life information by applying biological technologies to archaeological sites. It is also expected that such analyses of biological remains will ultimately be used to restore historical and cultural information.

  • we developed an information management system that manages various types of medical information such as text, image, sound, and laboratory data. We also developed a multimedia description system, in which medical doctors can describe his findings and interpretations with text and speech. The descriptions include the references to the data items stored in the information management systems. The communication between the description system and the information management systems is carried out using OLE/COM mechanism. The information management system was implemented by using Microsoft Open Data Base Connectivity(ODBC).

  • 본 논문은 통계 기반 접근 방식인 HMM(Hidden Markov model)과 생물학의 개체명에 관한 온톨로지 정보를 이용한 생물학 문서에서의 개체명(named entity) 경계 인식 방법을 제안한다. 제안하는 방법은 31개의 자질 정보를 이용한 평탄화 기법을 사용하며 생물학 개체명의 계층 정보를 이용하여 HMM의 자료 부족 문제를 완화시킬 수 있도록 하였다. 개체명 경계 인식의 학습과 실험을 위하여 GENIA 코퍼스 ver 2.1을 사용하였으며 개체명 경계 인식 실험을 수행한 결과 모든 부류를 사용한 경우보다 정확도 및 실행 속도가 개선됨을 확인하였다.

강원도 평창강과 유입천의 부착규조 군집분석 및 생물학적 수질평가 (The Epilithic Diatom Community and Water Quality Assessment in Pyengchang River and Inflow Streams of Gangwon-do)

  • The information about the physicochemical environments, the species distribution and community of the epilithic diatom cells in Pyengchang river and inflow streams of Gangwon-do were studied for assessment of biological water quality from June 2008 to October 2010. Total 112 diatom taxa were identified with 2 orders, 9 families, 26 genera, 95 species and 17 varieties. Among the total taxa identified, 13 taxa, 52 taxa and 15 taxa represented the family Achnanthaceae, Naviculaceae and Bacillariaceae, respectively. The pH values of the water was found to be neutral to alkaline due to the limestone grounds of Pyengchang river and inflow streams. The 13 taxa including Epithemia adnata, belonged to alkaline-water diatoms, and three species - Cymbella japonica, Eunotia major and Fragilaria capitellata - are known to be acidic-water species. The species, Hannaea arcus, known as a cryophilic and mountain periphyton was identified at IF2, IF3 and IF4 in low water temperature environments at high altitudes, being a dominating species in P1 and IF1. Four saproxenous species - Achnanthes convergens, Cocconeis placentula var. lineata, Cymbella turgidula and Hannaea arcus - were dominant at some sampling sites. For biological water quality assessment, IF2, IF3 and P3 showed low water quality class. The values of DAIpo and TDI were 10.6 ~ 98.0 and 13.8 ~ 94.2, respectively. Therefore, biological water quality in Pyengchang river and inflow streams was relatively desirable.

Vaginal Microbiota Profiles of Native Korean Women and Associations with High-Risk Pregnancy

  • The vaginal microbiota may be important for pregnancy prognosis because vaginal dysbiosis during pregnancy appears to be related to preterm birth (PTB) or pregnancy loss. Previous reports have indicated that a Lactobacillus-poor microbial flora in the vagina and intrauterine infection by diverse anaerobes ascending from the vagina are associated with undesirable delivery outcomes. However, no research has involved the use of pyrosequencing analysis to examine vaginal microbiota profiles or their potential associations with high-risk pregnancy in Korean women. Vaginal swabs were collected from 500 Korean women for the identification of community state types (CSTs). Of these, 137 samples were further analyzed using a Roche/454 GS Junior pyrosequencer. Three distinct CSTs were identified based on the dominant vaginal microbes: CST I (Lactobacillus crispatus dominated), CST III (Lactobacillus iners dominated), and CST IV (with diverse species of anaerobes). Twelve of the 67 pregnant women had undesirable pregnancy outcomes (four miscarriages and eight PTBs). The dominant microbe in the vaginal microbiota of women who gave birth at full-term was L. crispatus. In contrast, L. iners was the dominant vaginal microbe in women who miscarried. Most (n = 6/8) vaginal microbiota profiles of women who experienced PTB could be classified as CST IV, with diverse bacteria, including anaerobic vaginal species. The present study provides valuable information regarding the characteristics of the vaginal microbiota of Korean women related to high-risk pregnancy. Investigation of the vaginal microbiotic structure in pregnant Korean women is necessary to enable better prediction of adverse pregnancy outcomes.
