Beauty Shop Owner's Employment of Immigrant Women (미용산업고용주의 다문화이주여성에 대한 고용 연구)

  • This study examines the employment experience of beauty shop owners with respect to immigrant women. A quantitative analysis was conducted through a survey of beauty shop employers. Total 400 beauty shop owners were given a questionnaire and 380 responses were obtained. IBM SPSS 21.0 was used for frequency analysis, chi-square test, t-test using obtained data. Most of the respondents reported rare immigrant women employment. In addition, they were not likely to have experienced benefits from government support system and had little knowledge of such systems. According to an the employment analysis, there were differences in business areas, locations, regions, business type, and the number of employees according to characteristics of beauty shops. Immigrant women were more likely to be employed in Gyeonggi than in Seoul and Chungcheong Province and in skincareshops than in hairshops, nailshops and make-up shops. Shops with fewer than six employees were more likely to employ immigrant women. Those shop owners has employed immigrant women were more likely to hire immigrant women. Employment intentions of employers included mitigation services for auxiliary and sharing purposes, government benefits, and solutions for employment difficulties. Government support had a positive effect on employment intentions of beauty shop employers. Employers with knowledge of government support programs were more likely to hire immigrant women. The results suggest that the government should make more efforts to promote relevant policies. Future research should identify the reasons why few immigrant women are employed.

A Study on the Quality of Life of Hair Designer (미용사의 삶의 질에 관한 연구)

  • This study was carried out to examine the level and relevant factors of influencing quality of lift of Hair Designer and to provide basic data to prepare intervention program for them. The data were collected from 733 Hair Designer who worked in beauty shops located in big and small cities including Seoul, Busan, Daegu, Daejon, Gwangju, Gyeongju, Changwon, Andong, using self-administered questionnaire for four months from February to June 2005. The results of this study show that the level of quality of life of Hair Designer are lower than one of workers in other jobs. Particularly, there is a close relationship quality of life, and that the lower the income and the shorter working hours, the lower the level of quality of life. Thus, the health promotion and education program to improve the quality of life of Hair Designer should be developed considering working conditions.

A Study on Women's Preference for the Use of the Esthetic Shop and the Satisfaction Level of Skin Beauty Home Care (여성의 피부 관리실 이용 선호도 및 피부 미용 홈 케어 만족도 조사 연구)

  • This study includes online and offline surveys of 255 people conducted from March 11-29, 2021, into women's preferences in esthetic shops, and examines their level of satisfaction with skin and beauty home care. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS 25.0 to obtain technical statistics such as Cronbach's α and a frequency analysis, and applied a chi-square test and one-way ANOVA. According to the results on preferences in esthetic shops, the largest number of respondents (56.1%) said they use professional esthetic shops, but those in their 20s and office workers (57.1%) preferred dermatology clinics. When choosing esthetic shops, the importance of employee skill (skilled, trendy) was high (38.8%), and in skin care, the importance of knowing basic cosmetics use (M=4.47), such as cleansing and functional cosmetics (M=4.20), was very high. According to results on the current status of home care for skin beauty, other factors of highest importance (M=4.50) were in terms of marriage, being a university graduate (M=3.84), and experience in a service job (M=4.06). As a result, there is a need to develop programs not only specializing in skin beauty but also combining professional esthetic shops and home care.

The impact of beauty workers' human service quality on customer empathy and intention to revisit beauty shops (뷰티종사자의 인적서비스품질이 고객공감과 뷰티숍 재방문의도에 미치는 영향)

  • Recently, the beauty industry has become very competitive, so providing high-quality personal service has been raised as an important factor in maintaining a competitive edge and attracting customers. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the effect of personal service quality of beauty workers on customer empathy and intention to revisit beauty shops. To this end, a total of 238 questionnaires were collected and frequency analysis, exploratory factor analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis, and regression analysis were performed using the statistical package SPSS 27.0. The results of the study were as follows: First, among the components of personal service quality of beauty workers, sincerity and professionalism had a significant effect on emotional empathy, but reliability did not have a significant effect. Second, reliability, sincerity, and professionalism all had a significant effect on cognitive empathy. Third, emotional empathy and cognitive empathy had a significant effect on intention to revisit. Accordingly, in order to increase intention to revisit beauty shops, it seems necessary to provide education on words and actions that can give trust to beauty workers, genuine service, and professional skills. In the future, it is thought that research on customer empathy and revisit intentions should be conducted through the human service quality of beauty professionals and other variables differentiated from this study.

  • Beauty Art typically has been viewed as the best way to represent women's beauty. Specifically, nail art is a mean for the new generation to unveil their individuality. Nail-shop customers usually feel refreshed, and that emotional change gives them aesthetic and emotional satisfaction. The popularization of nail art and the growth of nail-art market arises the people's concern to the necessity of marketing strategy as part of the beauty industry, as well as the importance of service quality and customer satisfaction. The purpose of this study is to examine women's changing view of nail care and relevant consumption behavior. Also to analyze the voice of customers about the quality of services provided by nail shops, and to have the right understanding of the industry and as well as to determine some of the right directions for marketing.

  • This study is an investigation research regarding Beauty Artists' perception degree about self-Technic. Therefore by grasping the field which the beauty artists recognize the insufficiency while they perform their task, the result which executed a question investigation for 430 workers at the beauty shops which are located in the Jeollabuk-do area is the same following. As a result on the subject, after the beauty artists receive a fundamental beauty care education, and when they are engaged in a real beauty care shop, in order not for them to have difficulties in business accomplishment, more realistic and active curriculum has to be made up. To do like this, more researches and more efforts in the center of the beauty care group and the educational institution are demanded. In addition, so as to grow as the expert of the beauty care artist, the systemic and internal educational training program which considers the curriculum contents, a time and the place must be provided, by developing as levels and steps of the beauty artists.

The Study of motives to select and revitalise a franchise by comparing management practices of nail shops (네일샵의 경영형태 비교를 통한 프랜차이즈 선택동기와 경영성과 분석에 대한 연구)

  • This study is to identify whether a difference exists between factors that influence the time when independently owned nail shops and franchises commence business. Futhermore, we set out to investigate the criteria for nail shop owners use when selecting franchise nail shops with a relatively high level of customer satisfaction and performance, to discuss the necessity of a franchise agreement. An actual analysis has revealed that there is a difference in factors that influence management at the time of and after the inception of independently owned shops and franchise nail shops. Business performance of franchise shops, as a result of evaluating customer satisfaction or monthly sales, turns out to be higher than independently owned shops. The criteria for selecting franchise stores includes intensity of competitiveness in the same business district, accessibility, ability to keep up with current trends, directors' skills, color scheme, excellence of company logo, interesting interior, reasonable prices compared to the level of cosmetic procedure and efforts to motivate employees. Overall, the deciding factor enabling shops to operate continuously is constant supervision from the headquarters of the franchise company.

  • This paper provides the foundation to settle the new paradigm in the beauty industry service quality by confirming the beauty industry service quality influence on customer satisfaction and loyalty through the actual verification. The scale of this study for measurement of beauty industry service quality is confirmed through the certification of reliability and feasibility with questionnaire investigation after confirmation of contents and preliminary feasibility. The dimensions and items for measurement of beauty industry service quality are selected with service ability(6), tangible(4), responsiveness(3), reliability(2), conveniency(2). And it is confirmed that the level of service quality is changing unlike a beauty-shop facility or cost recognized traditionally as a key factor to occupy the higher position in competition of beauty-shops. This thesis presents the important point of current issue about kinds of strategy which beauty industry should establish in providing the beauty industry service for occupying higher position in keen competition.

An Analysis on the Relationships between Professions in the Beauty Industry and Blood Type

  • This study was carried out after the author experienced different personalities according to blood type over many years and thus have attempted to find out the relationships between blood type and each occupation in the industry. This study aims to analyze employees in the beauty industry (hair design, skin care, nail art and makeup) in Seoul with regard to their blood types. The significance of this study is to provide baseline data for entrants and managers in the beauty industry in order to help them choose the right occupation and reduce turnover rates through analyzing employee personalities by blood type. Research topics include the following: first, to understand the characteristics of employees in the beauty industry; and second, to find out the relationships between blood types and types of professions. After conducting an inquiry into the relationships between blood type and profession in the industry, a significant portion of skin care (49.3%) and nail art (43.8%) professionals was blood type A; nail artists (43.8%), type AB; hair designers (54.7%), type B; and makeup artists (50.0%) and hair designers (29.2%), type O. In conclusion, these results reflect the personalities of people within the beauty industry by blood type. Skin care and nail art shops are quiet environments, whereas hair salons are relatively louder with contemporary music along with the sounds of various equipment.

  • The purposes of this study were, a more systemic and desirable improvement method of retraining program was researched for cultivation of field beauticians through acknowledgement of the environmental change and phenomenon of beauty shops by time and through recognition of current retraining situation. 1) In terms of acknowledgement of the necessity for beautician retraining, the item on the necessity for beautician retraining showed beauticians' high requirement for retraining. 2) The main problem of reeducation was that reeducation curricular of each organization have not been programed. 3) Presence education was the main thing to be completed for reeducation program improvement. We also could know that the improvement and complement of work environment, the education extension besides technology education, and the rapid acquisition of information as improvement were recognized importantly.
