Questionnaires of collected 374 copies were used for a statistical analysis. The results of empirical analysis disclosed in this study are summarized as follows. First, customer-employee exchange had a positive effect on organizational commitment. Second, conscientiousness and openness of Big 5 character-types had a moderating effect on the relationship between customer-employee exchange and organizational commitment. But extraversion, neuroticism and agreeableness of Big 5 character-types had no moderating effect. The implications available through findings stated above are as follows. • Purpose: In the past, laymen or beauty parlor employees commonly injected people with unproven foreign material such as paraffin, silicone, and cooking oil. We have treated a patient who injected foreign material into her face and neck. Methods: For the last 20 years, a 43-year-old woman has been injecting herself in the face and neck with foreign material. There was no tenderness, erythema, pain, ulceration, or necrosis. However many visible, touchable subcutaneous masses were found. Her face was extremely ugly and disfigured by the foreign material. We could not recognize the boundary between her neck and mandible. The occipital scalp drooped extremely. Over the past 3 years, from February 2005 to October 2007, we performed 15 operations. Results: We conducted a cephalometric facial analysis to compare preoperative and postoperative facial diameter. The patient's upper face diameter decreased from 67 cm to 60 cm, the mid face diameter from 82 cm to 59 cm, the lower face diameter from 63 cm to 50 cm, and the neck circumference diameter from 53 cm to 44 cm, respectively. The mid sagittal diameter decreased from 26 cm to 23 cm. The total excised tissue weight was 4023.7 gram after 15 operations. Conclusion: Serial excision of face and neck masses in a patient who injected herself with foreign material resulted in a satisfactory outcome.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of stress factors on fatigue and depression of aesthetician. The subjects of this study were 133 Aesthetician in Busan Metropolitan City. Analysis was done by frequency analysis, t-test, one-way ANOVA and regression analysis. The results of this study are as follows. First, the aesthetician showed an average 2.57 of job stress. Second, the aesthetician showed an average 2.45 of socio-psychological stress. Third, the aesthetician showed an average fatigue(4.16) and depression(1.54). Therefore, in order to reduce the duties and socio-psychological stress of the aesthetician, fatigue and depression are reduced through regularization of the employees, adjustment of legal working hours, and establishment of similar paying system. • The service industry needs face-to-face customer service, which suggests the need for education training for workers. In other words, it is meaningful to look at whether education training for workers has a positive impact on the organization's performance. The success through education training will be due to the combined role of various factors. In this regard, the study focuses on how the attitude of workers in education training can play a role rather than just verifying the effectiveness of education training alone. As a result of the study, it was found that an employee's attitude toward education training, which was considered necessary to produce more effective results, was a regulator to further improve the educational satisfaction of training. After all, the more positive workers are about education training, the better workers' job performance can be. Therefore, promoting employee's education attitude before education training needs to be a priority, and further studies may call for more in-depth examination of the role of education training attitude.

The Effects of Service Employee's Surface Acting on Counterproductive Work Behavior: The Mediating Roles of Emotional Exhaustion (서비스 종업원의 표면행위가 반생산적 과업행동에 미치는 효과에 관한 연구: 감정소모의 매개효과를 중심으로)

  • Purpose - Counterproductive work behavior(CWB) was typically categorized according to the behavior whether it targets other people(i.e., interpersonal CWB: I-CWB). Employing organizations(i.e., organizational CWB: O-CWB) has emerged as major concerns among researchers, managers, and the general public. An abundance of researches has informed us about the understanding for the antecedents of CWB, whereas little is known about the antecedents of CWB directed distribution service in employee's emotional labor. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to propose a research model in which surface acting enhances emotional exhaustion as an emotional labor strategy, which eventually increases counterproductive work behavior(including I-CWM and O-CWB). Research design, data, and methodology - This empirical research data were gathered from the samples of full time frontline hotel employees(including front office, call center, food/beverage, concierge, and room service) in South Korea. Six hotels were selected ranged from four to five stars, including privately owned and joint-venture properties. A convenience sampling method was used to select hotels. Full time frontline hotel employees from the six hotels were surveyed using a self-administered instrument for data collection. With the strong support of hotel managers, a total of 300 questionnaires were distributed, and 252 responses were collected indicating a response rate of 84.0%. In the process of working with the 252 samples, structural equation modeling is employed to test research hypotheses(H1: The relationship between surface acting and Interpersonal counterproductive work behavior(I-CWB) is mediated by emotional exhaustion, H2: The relationship between surface acting and organizational counterproductive work behavior(O-CWB) is mediated by emotional exhaustion). SPSS 18.0 and M-Plus 7.31 software were used for the data analysis. Descriptive statistics were used to assess the distribution of the employee profiles and correlations between factors. M-Plus 7.31 software was used to test the model fit, validity, and reliability of the factors, significance of the relationship between factors, and the effects of factors in the model. Results - To test our mediation hypotheses, we used an analytical strategy suggested by Preacher & Hayes (2008) and Shrout & Bolger (2002). This mediation approach directly tests the indirect effect between the predictor and the criterion variables through the mediator via a bootstrapping procedure. Thus, it addresses some weaknesses associated with the Sobel test. We found that surface acting was positively related to emotional exhaustion. Furthermore, emotional exhaustion was a significant predictor from the two kinds of counterproductive work behavior. In addition, surface acting was not significantly associated with the two kinds of counterproductive work behavior. These results indicated that the surface acting by frontline hotel employees was associated with higher emotional exhaustion, which is related with higher interpersonal counterproductive work behavior(I-CWB) and organizational counterproductive work behavior(O-CWB). In sum, we confirmed that the positive relationship between surface acting and the two kinds of counterproductive work behavior was fully mediated by emotional exhaustion. Conclusions - The current research broadens the conceptual work and empirical studies in counterproductive work behavior literature by representing a fundamental mechanism that how surface acting affects counterproductive work behavior.
