Recently, the application of viscoelastic material in the field of vibration isolation has gradually increased due to its achievement in structural damping capacity, and many of the theoretical and experimental study has been carried out. In this study, the dynamic characteristics of the visoelastically supported cantilever beam, of which govering equation is based on the Bernoulli- Euler equation, is analyzed theoretically and experimentally. Expression for stiffness of multi-layered viscoelastic materal has been developed using variables such as frequency and number of layers, and further, based on this expression, damping characteristic of the beam is investigated with experimental verification.

Purpose : Verification within 5mm is one of the important QA process of IMRP and SRS. Therefore, we improve accuracy of patients set-up using scale point. Materials and Methods : We compare MLC scale pointer with customerized port film graticule for patients who was underwent IMRT and SRS. Results : Scale pointer using MLC showed accurate location of patients landmark including divergency of beam, and any point of patient could be certified by means of cross of MLC. Conclusion : MLC scale pointer is effective and convenient method in verification of patients set-up using L-gram.

Corrugated flexible joint with bellows shape is widely used in many industrial fields as it provides a relatively simple means of absorbing mechanical vibration and deformation due to its inherent flexibility. In this study, an effective equivalent beam modeling technique of corrugated flexible joint bend using a commercial CAE software is proposed to reduce the excessive efforts and costs required for three dimensional shell modelling in vibration analysis of bellows shape structure. When this simple and practical technique, based on the strain energy concept, is employed to modify the beam sectional properties of the flexible joint bend, quite satisfactory results can be obtained.

This paper is concerned with the design of the beam forming module that is a key unit of the active phased array antenna(APAA) system for mobile satellite communications. This module includes two blocks for main signal and tracking signal. Main signal block has the role of transmitting input signal from phased away antenna to tracking signal block. And, tracking signal block executes main roles, beam forming of tracking signal and electronic beam control. The several electrical performances of this module, phase characteristics and linear gain, etc., agreed with specifications needed for APAA, and for more clear verification of the performances, the satellite communication test of the APAA including the modules was accomplished in the outdoors.
Most damage identification methods for structural health monitoring developed to date utilize modal domain responses which require postprocessing and inevitably contain errors in transforming the domain of responses. In this paper, the feasibility of a damage identification method based on dynamics responses from moving loads is experimentally verified. The experiment is performed via applying periodic and non-periodic moving loads to a steel beam and acceleration and displacement responses of the beam is measured. The moving loads is applied using steel balls and the damage of a structure is simulated by saw-cutting the beam. The damage identification results using the measured responses show that the moving load response based damage identification method successfully identify all damages in the beam.
Two physical experiments are performed to verify the effectiveness of beam-particle model for simulating the progressive failure of particulate composites such as sandstone and concrete. In the numerical model, the material is schematized at the meso-level as an assembly of discrete, interacting particles which are linked through a network of brittle breaking beams. The uniaxial compressive tests of cubic and parallelepipedal specimens made of carbon steel rod assembly which are glued together by a mixture are represented. The crack patterns and load-displacement response observed in the experiments are in good agreement with the numerical results. In the application respect of beam-particle model to the particulate composites, the influence of defects, particle arrangement and boundary conditions on crack propagation is approached, and the correlation existing between the cracking evolution and the level of loads imposed on the specimen is characterized by fractal dimensions.
This article presents the differential system that governs the mechanical behaviour of a curved-beam element, with varying cross-section area, subjected to generalized load. This system is solved by an exact procedure or by the application of a new numerical recurrence scheme relating the internal forces and displacements at the two end-points of an increase in its centroid-line. This solution has a transfer matrix structure. Both the stiffness matrix and the equivalent load vector are obtained arranging the transfer matrix. New structural matrices have been defined, which permit to determine directly the unknown values of internal forces and displacements at the two supported ends of the curved-beam element. Examples are included for verification.

This paper presents the exact dynamic element for composite Timoshenko beam, which is inherently subject both to bending and torsional vibration. The coupling effect between bending and torsional vibrations is rigorouly considered in the derivation of the exact dynamic element. Two examples are provided to validate and illustrate the proposed exact dynamic element matrix for composite Timoshenko beam.
It is important to reduce the vibration and noise of submarines and ships. For the purpose of noise reduction, various researches are actively being conducted on the employment of complex structures. However, in the case of numerical analysis for complex structures with damping materials, substantial errors can be generated by the absence of an exact damping model. Thus experimental model analysis is necessary for the verification of a numerical analysis for complex structures. In this research, vibration experiments are conducted in order to ascertain the vibration properties of cantilever beam attached damping materials. First, an initial value is obtained by using a direct linear method. Next, based on this initial value, the exact modal parameters of the cantilever beam are obtained by using the Newton-Raphson method.

In present article, a size-dependent refined thick beam element has been established based upon nonlocal elasticity theory. Next, it is used to explore vibration response of porous metal foam nanobeams on elastic medium. The established beam element introduces ten degrees of freedom. Different porosity distributions called uniform, symmetric and asymmetric will be employed. Herein, introduced thick beam element contains shear deformations without using correction factors. Convergence and verification studies of obtained results from finite element method are also provided. The impacts of nonlocality factor, foundation factors, shear deformation, slenderness ratio, porosity kinds and porosity factor on vibration frequencies of metal foam nano-sized beams have been explored.
