  • The classical solution to the noise removal problem is the Wiener filter, which utilizes the second-order statistics of the Fourier decomposition. We discuss a Bayesian formalism which gives rise to a type of wavelet threshold estimation in non-parametric regression. A prior distribution is imposed on the wavelet coefficients of the unknown response function, designed to capture the sparseness of wavelet expansion common to most application. Confidence Intervals for the Difference of Binomial Proportions in Two Doubly Sampled Data

  • The construction of asymptotic confidence intervals is considered for the difference of binomial proportions in two doubly sampled data subject to false-positive error. The coverage behaviors of several likelihood based confidence intervals and a Bayesian confidence interval are examined. It is shown that a hierarchical Bayesian approach gives a confidence interval with good frequentist properties. Confidence interval based on the Rao score is also shown to have good performance in terms of coverage probability. However, the Wald confidence interval covers true value less often than nominal level.

  • In this paper, we generalize the software reliability growth model by assuming that the testing cost and maintenance cost are random and adopts the Bayesian approach to determine the optimal software release time. Numerical examples are provided to illustrate the Bayesian method for certain parametric models.

  • 본 논문은 최근 개발되는 헬기의 생존성 보장을 위하여 장착되는 센서체계에서 상호 독립적으로 수집된 센서 데이터의 융합 알고리즘 개발을 위하여 다양한 지식 기반의 데이터 융합 기법 등을 검토하였다. 이 논문에서는 다양한 데이터 융합기법 중에서 헬기 생존 계통 센서 체계의 데이터 응함에 유효한 대안이 될 수 있는 Bayesian Network를 이용한 지식 기반의 데이터 융합 기법 알고리즘을 설계하고 구현하였다.

Bayesian Estimators Using Record Statistics of Exponentiated Inverse Weibull Distribution

  • The inverse Weibull distribution(IWD) is a complementary Weibull distribution and plays an important role in many application areas. In this paper, we develop a Bayesian estimator in the context of record statistics values from the exponentiated inverse Weibull distribution(EIWD). We obtained Bayesian estimators through the squared error loss function (quadratic loss) and LINEX loss function. This is done with respect to the conjugate priors for shape and scale parameters. The results may be of interest especially when only record values are stored.

  • Noise reduction is an important issue in the field of image processing because image noise lowers the quality of the original pure image. The basic difficulty is that the noise and the signal are not easily distinguished. Simple smoothing is the most basic and important procedure to effectively remove the noise; however, the weakness is that the feature area is simultaneously blurred. In this research, we use ways to measure the degree of noise with respect to the degree of image features and propose a Bayesian noise reduction method based on MAP (maximum a posteriori). Simulation results show that the proposed adaptive noise reduction algorithm using Bayesian MAP provides good performance regardless of the level of noise variance.

  • 프로그램 행위 침입 탐지 기법은 데몬 프로그램이나 루트 권한으로 실행되는 프로그램이 발생시키는 시스템 호출들을 분석하고 프로파일을 구축하여 변형된 공격을 효과적으로 탐지한다. 본 논문에서는 베이지안 네트워크와 다중 서열 정렬을 이용하여 여러 프로세스의 시스템 호출간의 관계를 표현하고, 프로그램 행위를 모델링하여 변형된 이상 침입 행위를 분류함으로써 이상행위를 탐지한다. 제안한 기법을 UNM 데이터를 이용한 시뮬레이션을 수행하였다.

  • The possibility to extent the solution in human detection problem for plug-in on vision-based Human Computer Interaction domain is very attractive, since the successful of the machine leaning theory and computer vision marriage. Bayesian logistic regression is a powerful classifier performing sparseness and high accuracy. The difficulties of finding people in an image will be conquered by implementing this Bavesian model as classifier. The comparison with other massive classifier e.g. SVM and RVM will introduce acceptance of this method for human detection problem. Our experimental results show the good performance of Bavesian logistic regression in human detection problem, both in trade-off curves (ROC, DET) and real-implementation compare to SVM and RVM.

  • Artificial intelligence (AI) is making computer systems intelligent to do right thing. The AI is used today in a variety of fields, such as journalism, medical, industry as well as entertainment. The impact of AI is becoming larger day after day. In general, the AI system has to lead the optimal decision under uncertainty. But it is difficult for the AI system can derive the best conclusion. In addition, we have a trouble to represent the intelligent capacity of AI in numeric values. Statistics has the ability to quantify the uncertainty by two approaches of frequentist and Bayesian. So in this paper, we propose a methodology of the connection between statistics and AI efficiently. We compute a fixed value for estimating the population parameter using the frequentist learning. Also we find a probability distribution to estimate the parameter of conceptual population using Bayesian learning. To show how our proposed research could be applied to practical domain, we collect the patent big data related to Apple company, and we make the AI more intelligent to understand Apple's technology.
