Effect of Particle Size of Cathode Materials on Discharge Properties of Thermal Batteries (양극 활물질의 입도에 따른 열전지 출력 특성 연구)

  • Thermal batteries are used for military power sources that require robustness and long storage life such as missiles and torpedoes. $FeS_2$ powder is currently used for cathode materials because of its high specific energy density, environmental non-toxicity and low cost. However, large particle size of conventional $FeS_2$ has been deterred its possible application for higher power thermal batteries. In order to improve the power density, high energy ball milling of $FeS_2$ has been introduced to crush the micron-sized $FeS_2$. Discharge characteristics of the single cells fabricated with nano-materials and conventional $FeS_2$ powder were evaluated.

  • Recently study on components for a electric golf car and a utility car driven by a electric motor has been performed actively, and the study on a drive motor, a inverter and a battery focuses on a small, light weight and high power density source to improve fuel efficiency using limited electric energy. Especially, since a utility car such as a golf car performance depends on initial acceleration and maximum speed capability, a drive system requires high power and large and wide operation area, This study therefore investigates on the interior permanent magnet synchronous motor with high power density and wide operation, and is verified with the test result after design and characteristic analysis is performed.

  • Recently, as the road capacity reaches the limit and environmental problems becomes serious, there is gradually increased a need for railroad vehicles that are environment-friendly and have time regularity, reliability and safety. Accordingly, in addition to conventional railroad vehicles, lots of vehicles are being newly developed. We developed the hardware and software of the measurement system for on-line test and evaluation of korean hish speed train. The software controls the hardware of the measurement data and acts as interface between users and the system hardware. In this paper, we is studied for electric apparatus performance of railway vehicle using sensor. In order to this test is developed signal conversion system. Using this system, we obtained important result for pantograph voltage, battery voltage, axle speed, and running speed.

  • This paper deals with the operation of a flywheel energy storage UPS. The ups has good features such as long life-time, improved efficiency, no environment problems, reduced size and space, and low maintenance cost compared with the conventional UPS using battery. The operating principle of the UPS is analysed in each mode including charging, voltage compensation, discharging, and voltage unbalance compensation. Especially, the tracking characteristic of the disturbed phase of the source voltage after outage is analysed. The usefulness of the operation is proved through simulations.

  • A novel single-phase induction machine drive containing full bridge inverter is presented. The drive is intended for conveyor system or a similar type of application requiring variable-speed operation with a fan-type load characteristic. An experimental drive based on the proposed setup has been built to verify its practical viability. The paper presents the results obtained from an investigation and discusses the properties and characteristics of the drive for the entire speed range from 0 to 60Hz.

  • 본 연구에서는 최근, 전기자동차 및 소형 레저용 선박을 중심으로 연구가 진행 중인, 대용량 이차전지의 용량 증대를 위하여 필요한 내부 전극 접합 기술에 관하여 연구하였다. 종래의 초음파 용접으로 적층할 수 있는 적층량의 한계를 극복하기 위한 방안으로 전극 소재에 직접 가열을 통한 용접 방법이 아닌 용가제 금속을 적용하여 전극을 접합시켜, 통전성과 인장강도를 증대시킴과 동시에 열적요인으로 인한 전극표면에 화학적 활성물질의 변성을 최소화할 수 있는 저온 접합 방법에 대하여 연구하였다. 부연하여 용접을 위하여 무리하게 출력을 상승시킬 경우 용접열의 영향으로 전극의 변형 및 활성물질의 변성을 야기함과 동시에 최종 페키징 이후 출력저하, 발열 등, 배터리의 안정성을 저하시키는 요인으로 작용한다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 고주파 유도가열을 통한 유도 가열 방식의 접합 방법과 용융 도금을 통한 용가제 금속의 전처리를 통한 종래와는 차별화된 전극접합 방법을 소개한다.

  • Current rechargeable battery cannot provide high energy density and the operational durations required. But linear engine/generators provide high energy density for portable power applications because fuel is more high density. In this paper, we suggest that basic design of powerpack using linear engine for assisting power output. Efficiency is relatively high because linear engine don't have crank mechanism compared with rotary engine. We made prototype engine and had experiments to know moving characteristic about the Linear Engine. It was possible to operate velocity at 50 Hz at the firing and pressure in cylinder was 16bar.

  • 전세계적으로 신재생 에너지를 활용한 기술에 대한 관심이 대두되고 있는 가운데, 국내외에서 활발히 연구 중인 연료전지를 철도차량에 적용하는 연구를 수행하였다. 연료전지를 동력으로 사용하는 철도 차량시스템은 계통에서 전력을 공급받아 구동하는 철도차량과 달리 배터리를 적용한 토폴로지를 사용한다. 배터리는 역행시 철도차량 견인전동기를 구동하거나 회생시 발생되는 전류를 저장한다. 본 논문은 수소연료전지 발전시스템을 적용시 사용되어야하는 배터리 시스템의 충방전 토폴로지에 대해 분석하였다. 견인전동기 역행 및 회생특성을 반영하여 배터리 충방전 토폴로지 적용가능성을 분석하였고 시뮬레이션을 통해 제어 특성을 확인하였다.

  • There are increased interests in using new regeneration energy due to the effect of the latest rising oil price. On this account, various practical applications using small stand-alone PV generation system are being made. In this paper, with intent to change mercury lamp using for existing garden lamp with high flux LED, we have considered load characteristic using high flux LED modules applied to PV system. It is simulated with PSIM and made experiment set with a 75[W] solar cell module, DC-DC converter, controller and battery.
