기초프로젝트 과목 운영을 통한 컴퓨터.정보공학 분야의 프로젝트 평가 기준 개발 (Development of Criteria for Evaluating Projects through Running of Basic Projet Courses in Computer Science & Information Engineering)

  • This paper deals with the practical experience and lessons to develop the criteria for evaluating projects in Computer Science & Information Engineering. In engineering education, project-based learning is different from problem-based learning. Project tasks are closer to professional reality. And self-direction is stronger in project work. In this paper, the development of project evaluation criteria is introduced with consideration of these differences. It is explained through running examples of basic project courses in Computer Science & Information Engineering.

간호교육에서의 유전학 교육과정 현황과 요구 (The Current Status and Educational Requirements for Genetics Curriculum at Nursing Institutions)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate and analyze current educational requirements related to genetics curriculum(from June 2002 to September 2002) established at nursing institutions and to provide the basic data for the development of genetics science program at the undergraduate. Subjects of this study were comprised of twenty-three colleges of nursing in 4-year baccalaureate and thirty colleges in 3-year diploma programs. The results of this study were as follows : 1) 32 colleges offer courses related to genetics. 29 among 32 colleges have that integrated. Three schools have established completely independent courses of genetics. 21 colleges do not have any courses dealing with genetics. 2) The contents of courses related to genetics include: Congenital abnormalities, chromosomal aberrations, congenital metabolic disease, prenatal diagnosis and genetic counseling, genes and chromosomes, immune genetics, blood type and genetics, rule of genetics, variation in gene expression, the map of the human gene, gene linkage genetics, interaction of genes, single inheritance in order and genetic biochemistry. 3) For course credit, 14colleges(48.3%) offered at most 1 credit per course. The grade of student who can take the course, 51.7% were in their second year while 37.9% were in their third year. The majors of nursing faculty who taught the course were nursing(51.7%) and basic nursing science(17.2%). 4) As far as the need of opening the courses related to genetics, 36 colleges(67.0%) have made a 'need', 12 schools(22.6%) state 'dose not need'. 711e reason for need were the following development of bio engineering, increase number of patients who are related to genetics, recognition of the need in clinical nursing. 7 schools(13.2%) agreed to offer independent course in genetics but 39 schools(73.6%) are in disagreement with that. When the school offers the course with other courses, 27 schools(50.0%) are opening basic nursing science and 14 schools(26.4%) are opening nursing as an integrated courses. If the name of course was either genetic nursing(34.0%) or genetics(28.3%), the credits for the course was one or 2 credits. 33 schools(62.3%) students were in the first or second years. 41 schools(84.9%), the majors of the faculty who had taught the course were either basic nursing science(35.8%), nursing(28.3%) or basic medicine(24.5%). The contents of the course should include in that order: Chromosome aberrations, prenatal diagnosis and genetic counseling, congenital metabolic disease, congenital abnormalities, genes and chromosomes, the rules of genetics, immune genetics, interaction of genes, variation in gene expression, etc. The results and discussions of the study indicate that the entire curriculums need to be investigated with respect to contents of education, nursing curriculums and name of courses because of the increasing need of knowledge related to genetics in the clinical practice.

국내 이공계 대학 유학생들의 전공기초 학습 경험 탐색 (Exploring the Foreign Students' Learning Experiences in Natural Science Basic Course at College of Engineering in Korea)

  • 본 연구는 국내 이공계 대학 유학생들의 전공기초 학습 경험을 탐색하여 유학생들이 이공계 학부 과정을 이수하는데 실제로 필요로 하는 것이 무엇인지 살펴보고 국내 이공계 대학의 교육 경쟁력 강화를 위한 시사점을 제공하고자 수행되었다. 연구 대상은 국내 이공계 대학에 재학 중인 유학생 7명이며, 출신 국가는 중국, 베트남, 우즈베키스탄, 말레이시아 등 4개국이다. 연구자는 자발적인 참여 의사를 밝힌 유학생 7명에 대하여 서답형 설문 조사를 실시하였으며, 이 중 4명에 대해서는 개별적인 심층 면담도 진행하였다. 면담 시간은 30분에서 1시간 정도 소요되었으며, 반구조화된 면담 기법을 활용하였다. 면담 내용은 참여자들의 동의 하에 모두 녹음되었으며, 녹음된 자료는 전사하여 면담노트와 함께 관리되었다. 전사된 자료는 연속 비교법의 단계에 따른 부호화 및 범주화 과정을 토대로 분석하였으며, 그 결과, 이공계 전공기초 과목 수강에 따른 한국어 능력 부족으로 인한 문제, 전공기초 과목에서 등장하는 용어나 개념 이해의 문제, 전공기초 과목의 보충학습 방법, 전공기초 교육프로그램 개설의 필요성 및 대학의 관심과 지원 요청 등의 네 가지 주제들이 도출되었다.

개선된 학부 의공학 소프트웨어 교육과정을 위한 새로운 과목의 제안 (Enhanced Undergraduate Software Education Curriculum for Biomedical Engineering: a Proposal for a New Class)

  • Biomedical engineering is a discipline where engineering principles and techniques are applied to the medical field. Biomedical engineering lies between traditional engineering and medicine and is an inter-disciplinary field in its nature. Current Korean undergraduate biomedical engineering curriculum is a simple list of traditional engineering courses combined with basic medical/life science courses. There have been efforts to improve biomedical engineering education to reflect its inter-disciplinary nature. Enhanced software course for biomedical engineering is proposed as a part of effort to overhaul the undergraduate biomedical engineering curriculum. In this newly proposed course, students will learn MATLAB and LabVIEW, which are the most widely used software tools in biomedical engineering.

피지컬 컴퓨팅을 통한 기초 프로그래밍 교육 방법 (Education Method for Basic Programming Subject through Physical Computing)

  • 사물과 컴퓨터의 연결이 쉬워지면서 피지컬 컴퓨팅을 활용한 학습은 초보자들을 대상으로 하는 프로그래밍 교육에 있어 제기되는 문제점들을 보완하기 위한 좋은 대안으로 제시되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 초보자들을 위한 기초 프로그래밍 강좌에 적용할 수 있는 교육방법을 제안한다. 이를 위해, 피지컬 컴퓨팅 방식으로 기초 프로그래밍 강의를 진행한다. 현재 피지컬 컴퓨팅 강좌들은 대부분 다양한 입력 센서 연결방법과 출력장치 제어에 초점이 맞추어져 있다. 그러나, 피지컬 컴퓨팅 재료들을 이용한 프로그래밍 교육 내용은 그 사례가 부족하다. 이에 본 논문에서는 피지컬 컴퓨팅에 사용되는 저가의 재료들을 이용하여, 프로그래밍 교육에 활용한 교육 방법을 제안하고 시험하였다.

The treatment effect of novel hGHRH homodimer to male infertility hamster

  • Extra-hypothalamic growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH) plays an important role in reproduction. To study the treatment effect of Grin (a novel hGHRH homodimer), the infertility models of 85 male Chinese hamsters were established by intraperitoneally injecting 20 mg/kg of cyclophosphamide once in a week for 5 weeks and the treatment with Grin or human menopausal gonadotropin (hMG) as positive control was evaluated by performing a 3-week mating experiment. 2-8 mg/kg of Grin and 200 U/kg of hMG showed similar effect and different pathological characteristics. Compared to the single cyclophosphamide group (0%), the pregnancy rates (H-, M-, L-Grin 26.7, 30.8, 31.3%, and hMG 31.3%) showed significant difference, but there was no difference between the hMG and Grin groups. The single cyclophosphamide group presented loose tubules with pathologic vacuoles and significant TUNEL positive cells. Grin induced less weight of body or testis, compactly aligned tubules with little intra-lumens, whereas hMG caused more weight of body or testis, enlarging tubules with annular clearance. Grin presented a dose-dependent manner or cell differentiation-dependentincrease in testicular GHRH receptor, and did not impact the levels of blood and testicular GH, testosterone. Grin promotes fertility by proliferating and differentiating primitive cells through up-regulating testicular GHRH receptor without triggering GH secretion, which might solve the etiology of oligoasthenozoospermia.

TEACHING APPLIED MATHEMATICS FOR ENGINEERS - A NEW TEACHING PARADIGM BASED ON INDUSTRIAL MATHEMATICS

  • What is the "new paradigm"? It is impossible express it in one or two words, but if one had to; the closest might be the "holistic approach". The expression can be justified by the fact that the conclusions above lead to a greater intermixing of mathematics with engineering and natural sciences subjects, typically expressed in the form of examples of simplified real problems. They also lead to a greater intermixing of subjects within mathematics so that the courses should have less separation e.g. between symbolic and numerical mathematics. The conclusions also lead to the spreading the mathematics courses throughout all study years, not just the first two years. Of course, this should be done with great care in order to guarantee studies that are logically linked together. The new paradigm also means that the needs arising from industrial mathematics must be taken into account in the contents of engineering mathematics courses. Such topics are e.g. multivariate methods, statistics and use of mathematical software. What are we expected to gain from the paradigm shift? The primary benefit should be in obtaining more productive engineers equipped with a better degree of mathematical preparedness for engineering problems. But in addition, it should also promote more intensive use of applied mathematics and easier communication with professional mathematicians, often needed in complicated industrial problems.?Finally, it can be noted that the new paradigm is in harmony with the basic ideas of the CDIO (Conceive - Design - Implement - Operate) initiative for producing the next generation of engineers [1]. 공학대학 캡스톤 디자인(창의적 공학 설계) 교육과정 운영실태 및 학습 만족도 조사 (Present Situation and Student Satisfaction of Engineering Capstone Design Course in Engineering Colleges of Korea)

  • 본 연구는 최근 공과대학에서 시행하고 있는 캡스톤 디자인 교육에 대한 현재 공과대학의 교육과정운영 실태를 점검하고 학습 만족도를 조사 분석하여, 향후 효과적 캡스톤 디자인 교육 방법 개발 및 관련연구 활성화를 위한 기초자료로 활용하기 위해 공학설계 및 캡스톤 디자인의 개념과 정의를 살펴보았다. 또한, 캡스톤 디자인 교육의 도입배경 및 필요성을 분석 제시하였으며, 이러한 일련의 과정을 통해 최근 캡스톤 디자인을 이수하였거나, 이수중인 공과대학 학부 학생을 대상으로 설문을 실시하여 캡스톤 디자인 교육과정에 대한 문제점을 도출하였으며, 이에 따른 개선방안을 제시하였다.

  • 본 논문은 한경대학교 정보제어공학심화과정 3학년에 포함된 2학점(3시간) 실험교과목 "기초전자회로설계및실험"과 "응용전자회로설계및실험"에 포함된 1학점(1시간) 요소설계의 운영에 대해서 소개한다. 1학점(2시간)의 실험과 병행하여 1학점(1시간) 요소설계을 공학인증기준에 부합하도록 운영하는 절차, 운영결과 및 개선점을 소개한다. 학생들은 설계교과목 이수체계도에 따라서 체계적으로 설계교과목을 이수해야 효과적인 설계법을 배울 수 있다.

이공계 Technical Writing 기본과정 내용에 대한 고찰 (A Study on the Contents of a Basic Technical Writing Course for Engineering Students)

  • This paper emphasizes writing education for engineering students should be communication driven writing education based on KEC2005. Communication driven writing for engineering students is essentially same as Technical Writing(TW) developed on the basis of ABET. Considering the current writing capability of engineering students and social need for various types of writing, TW education should be divided into two courses: basic and advanced. This paper deals with contents of a basic TW course in Myongji University, as a model case of a basic TW course for engineering students. It underlines various methods of prewriting that should be stressed and practiced in the TW class, because the prewriting step in the writing process determines the overall direction and structure of an essay. In particular, this paper introduces Power Writing(PW) which uses the structure of a paragraph as a means for providing building-blocks for the essay, employing logic, and ordering information arrangement in a paragraph. This paper also deals with important guidelines about sentence structure and word selection and proposes various applications of TW such as resume, interview, proposal, report, and presentation as a latter part of the basic course. Finally this paper highlights the etics of writing, such as plagiarism and the basic principles of quotation.
