Objectives: Recently, angiogenesis has gained an increasing interest as a prognostic factor in breast cancer. In this study we aimed to assess the anti angiogenic effects of HAD, a botanical anticancer remedy which has been prescribed in Daejeon University Oriental Hospital in Korea, on patients with breast carcinoma by measuring the serum vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), basic fibroblast growth factor (b-FGF) and platelets levels. Methods: The study included 26 consecutive breast cancer patients (mean age$\pm$standard deviation: 47.5$\pm$8.7 years) with stage II to IV disease who were treated with HAD (mean duration $\pm$ standard deviation: 264.5$\pm$121.6 days). In addition to routine laboratory and staging procedures, serum VEGF, b-FGF levels and platelet counts were determined as antiangiogenic markers. The antiangiogenic effects of HAD were evaluated by analyzing the differences between the values of the antiangiogenic markers before and after the treatment with HAD. Results: Serum b-FGF concentrations were significantly reduced after the treatment with HAD (P=0.042). Serum VEGF concentrations were found to have a somewhat decreasing change, though the change was not statistically significant (P=0.229). Platelet counts had little changes (P=O.80). Conclusions: It is supposed that HAD has effects on decreasing the serum b-FGF levels related with the clinical outcome of breast cancer patients.
In the Oriental Medicine field the great three reference books are Hwantienaekyung(黃帝內徑, HJNK), Sihnnongbonchokyung(神農本草經, BCK) and Shanghanlun(SHR). HJNK has been a theory book regarded as a bible of the Oriental Medicine, BCK, a herbal book with 365 species of red letters noticed from Bonchokyungjipjoo(本草經集註) and SHR, very important clinical book with concrete prescriptions for the therapy of patients. Though these books were written by Chinese people ca. 2000 years ago, yet they are no doubt very important and effective ones in these days. Unfortunately they are handed down to all transmitted books for a long times because original ones were destroyed by fire and another troubles. In this study we have tried to extract three common terminological words and common theories from the prescription law by theoretical principles(理法方藥, clinical therapeutic mechanism) acquired through the comparative analysis of these three books. They are qi(氣), cold or heat(寒熱) and yin & yang(陰陽), and their practical basic theories have been evidenced through exterior & interior of body(表裏) and deficiency or exessiveness(虛實) by the heat of Sun. Also we would have realized that Oriental Medicine should be analyzed through various scientific techniques and clinical experiences, and necessarily unified to yin & yang monism from qi theory of the Sun in all human's life cycle(生老病死).

Objectives: Yijin-tang-gamibang has been used in the Korean Medicine for treating various digestive disease. This study was aimed to investigate the effects and safety of Yijin-tang-gamibang in reflux esophagitis through the analysis of articles. Method: A total of 9 articles about Yijin-tang-gamibang and reflux esophagitis were used to develop this article. Results: According to basic research and clinic research data, it is supported that Yijin-tang-gamibang was useful prescription in reflux esophagitis. Yijin-tang-gamibang has favorable protective effects on the reflux esophagitis induced by pylorus and forestomach ligation in rats. After treatment with Yijin-tang-gamibang, patients showed improvement in all symptoms associated with reflux esophagitis and functional dyspepsia, including general condition. And Yijin-tang-gamibang did not show any toxic effect in single oral dose toxicity test. Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that Yijin-tang-gamibang showed favorable protective effects on the reflux esophagitis. However, it proved insufficient to confirm its efficacy owing to lack of clinical studies of high quality. So, we need well designed studies to verify clinical efficacy of Yijin-tang-gamibang hereafter.

In order to investigate different and original theories on pathology of eyes from the past main etiology of fire and heat, two texts of Si-sheng-xin-yuan written by Huang Yuan Yu and Eui-gam-jung-ma written by Lee Gyu Jun are selected and analysed in terms of pathology and prescription. Huang explained that diseases of the eyes are usually born of functional disorders of spleen and stomach(脾胃升降失調) accompanied with turbidity change of energy and blood(氣血淸濁變化). In the meantime, Lee described that the diseases are made from disorders of activities of essence, spirit, energy and blood stored in 5 viscera. So following them, the main point of treatment for the diseases of eyes is to restore and clarify the stagnated gastrointestinal(GI) function, or to supply the clear essence and blood to eyes respectively. Also they have same opinions that the fire and heat are the secondary symptoms of the optical diseases. Therefore Huang focused on cleaning the phlegm and leaking the moisture of GI tract to treat those symptoms, and Lee emphasized on nourishing essential energy of kidney and liver on the other hand. Although they preferred to use radical therapy than symptomatic one. But it can be deduced that Huang's theory is more positive and direct therapy and Lee's one is more basic but indirect treatment.
This research was planned and executed to evaluate how the composition of Yack-sun tea can affect the health conditions of people who are suffering from diet-related such as being overweight, are obese and have hyperlipidemia, by taking Yack-sun tea in a form of a nutritional supplement with our daily meals. We produced Kangjieum with Lycium chinense Mill., Polygonum multflorum Thunb, Cassia tora L., Crataegus pinnatifida Bge and Salvia miltiorrhiza Bge. Thus, we approach of oriental diet therapy area research of Kangjieum and analysis proximate composition, water soluble antioxidant content. The content(%, dry basis) of total carbohydrate was 60.23%, crude protein was 18.18%, crude ash was 11.36% and crude fat was 10.23% in Kangjieum. Total water soluble antioxidant content was 1.027 ${\mu}g/m{\ell}$ of Kangjieum. We think that scientific and objective evaluation was done on the components of the Kangjieum prescription. This basic data could help guide the application of oriental medicinal resources into other foods and serve as a stepping-stone for use of Kangjieum in the burgeoning field of nutraceutical foods. Last, the scientific effects of oriental medicinal foods developed according to oriental medicinal theory. This theory is believed to be essential for government policy development concerning validation of medicinal effects and assessment, with the aim of fostering systematic development and providing guidance to food development in the interest of national health.
The degree of KAP study on Chinease traditional medicine and doctor was examined with some chinease living yenbian district(延邊) from July 1st to August 30th in 1996. The result of the study for predicting health and ill patterns runs as fellows. 1. It is understand to strength and variety about role of chinease traditional medicine doctors and the curable disease. 2. Although most patients go to chinease traditional medicine clinic for the purpose of medicine herbs in package, acupuncture and industry-made pharm, they think the medical fee a little high(70.6%). 3. The 66.7% of respondents recognize chinease traditional medicine doctors as a profession and others think them only abundant works ; therefore it is rather low to ink chinease traditional doctors a profession. 4. Most respondents think that chinease traditional medicine should improved in the inside ; such as scientific reinforcement of theory, lack of univerality, improvment and enlargement of insurance, unkindness, shortage of publicity, dropped equipment, system of medical specialist, lack of integration with westem medicine, exact diagnosis and confidence of remedy, and low efficacy, etc. 5. Chinease likes more experienced-traditional doctor than beginner(78.3%) 6. The policy of korean government against 100 herbal prescription right by western pharmacy has taken the negative recognition(74.6%), 7. The degree that acknowleges of chinease traditional medicine through thease basic contents is average 47.3 mark. To be brief, although the step of the recognition and attitude of oriental medicine is less or very affirmative aspect, actully considerable positive factors is in the last chosen step. In conclusion KAP study connected chinease traditional medicine and doctor has very much postive factors.
The degree of KAP study on oriental traditional medicine was examined with some korean from July 1st to August 30th in 1996. The result of the study for predicting health and ill patterns runs as fellows. 1) It is too weak to understand and adertise oriental traditional medicine doctors and the curable disease; moreover cured diseases rather preponderate. 2) Although most patients go to oriental traditional medical clinic for the purpose of medical herbs in package and acupuncture, they think the medical fee a high expensive. 3) The 77.9% of respondents recognize oriental traditional medical doctors as a profession and others think them only abundant workers; therefore it is rather low to think oriental traditional doctors a profession. 4) Most respondents ink that oriental traditional medicine should improved in the inside; such as the expensive fee, scientific reinforcement of theory, lack of univerality, improvement and enlargement of insurance, unkindness, shortage of publicity, dropped equipment, system of medical specialist, lack of integration with western medicine, exact diagnosis and confidence of remedy and low efficacy, etc. 5) The struggle against the government (1995-1996 about herbal prescription right by western pharmacy) has taken the change of affirmative recognition. 6) The degree that acknowleges of oriental traditional medicine through these basic contents is average 61.65 mark. To be brief, although the step of recognition and attitude of oriental me야cine is very affirmative aspect, actually considerable difficult factors is in the last chosen step.
This research was designed and implemented to evaluate how the composition of yaksuncha can affect the health of individuals suffering from diet-related diseases such as obesity and hyperlipidemia by prescribing Yaksun as a nutritional supplement with daily meals. The yaksunucha was prepared as Koekac, Sansa, Heshouwu and Woolong tea and the tea's effects on serum lipids and oxidative stress were evaluated by clinical procedures. The yaksuncha significantly increased HDL-cholesterol and decrease of LDL-cholesterol concentrations in serum. It also had significant effects on decreasing oxidative stress and homocystein levels. The physical characteristics of the yaksunucha were also examined, showing. Brix, pH and titratable acidity values of 1.4, 5.50 and 0.05% respectively. It is thought that scientific and objective evaluations were completed on the components of the yaksuncha prescription. Thus one can concluded that the components could be applied not only in the form of tea, but also various food. The data derived from this study provides basic information that will aid in the application of oriental medicinal resources to other foods as well as facilitate the study of medicinal herbs within the field of functional food research, which already draws sizable attention worldwide.
The design disaster prevention of first consideration is security for the people in the buildings. However, it is difficult to make a project for considering variable cases, declined visibility of smoke, distance from another person, mentality, knowledge of clearway etc. This study purpose is, analysis variable cases and modularization of pattern movement to practice basic information for evacuation of simulation which is used RTLS (Real Time Location System) system. It is useful to sense the electric waves from the Tag and grasp the real-time position. The pattern movement of evacuation were analyzed prescription eyeglasses which is used RTLS system to consider following 3 actions; analysis of relations that declined visibility effect the decline of movement velocity, analysis rate of flow with the size of door to estimate the optimum size of door in building and analysis the pattern movement that a bottleneck situation with abundant of people passed together to these exit. The confirmed of propriety of the interpretation about the actual people to evacuate is expected applying the numerical formula in various situation.
Six volunteers (mean $age=25.7{\pm}1.7$, $height=173{\pm}1.9$ and $weight=63.4{\pm}2.3{\;}kg$) participated in a graded exercise test and one hour of basic form of ChunDoSunBup (CDSB) Qi-training to investigate the cardiorespiratory responses and exercise intensity of Qi-training, a Korean traditional psychosomatic training. In the maximal exercise, the trainee showed $96.2{\pm}8.89{\;}l/min$ in ventilation (VE), $46.0{\pm}4.4$ in breath frequency (BF), $1.31{\pm}0.05$ in respiratory exchange ratio (RER), $180.7{\pm}3.0$ in heart rate (HR), and $2.6{\pm}1.1{\;}l/min$ or $40.7{\pm}2.3{\;}ml/kg/ml$ in oxygen consumption $(VO_2)$. Qi-training induced significant changes in BF, RER, HR, and $VO_2$. The exercise intensity of Qi-training were 42.3%, 46.9% and 38.7% of $HR_{max}$ during the sound exercise, slow motion (haeng-gong) and meditation respectively and the average was 46.2% of $HR_{max}$. We conclude that Qi-training is an aerobic exercise of a light (mild) intensity exercise, and it leads to decrease the metabolic rate in the trainee by breathing efficiently and relaxing them. In addition, Qi-training may affect cardiorespiratory function of BF, RER, HR and $VO_{2max}$ in trainees.
