  • PTZ (Pan-Tilt-Zoom) camera based surveillance systems are enlarging their field of application due to their wide observable area. We aimed to detect both static and moving objects in automated working space by using a PTZ camera. For object detection we used background difference method because of the high quality segmentation. However, the method has a problem called 'hole' that is caused by non-continuous surveillance of the PTZ camera and its own characteristics. Moreover, the occlusion which occurs when the moving object overlaps with the static object should be solved for robust object detection. In this paper, we suggest a region-based technique for updating background images thereby overcoming the hole and occlusion problem. Through experiments with real scenes, it was verified that meaningful static and/or moving objects were detected very well.

  • In this paper, I propose an automatic background extraction method and continuous background updating technique. Because there is a movement of a vehicle and a change of a background is feeble, the area moving through the time axis is looked for and a background and a vehicle image is divided. A way to give dynamically the threshold which divides the image frame into a vehicle image and the background in a space is enforced. Through the repetition of the above-mentioned process, the background pictorial image is gained. Using the karlman filter technique, the update is done so that a background image can obey a climate situation and an environmental change in day and night. A background image processed algorithm is better than the existent one. Through simulation, the feasibility of the algorithm has been verified.

  • In this paper, we propose a vehicle tracking method that can be applied in the intelligent traffic information system. The proposed method mainly consists of two steps: overlap removal and background updating. In order to remove overlap, we detect the overlap based on the location of the vehicle from successive images. Background updating is to calculate a background using statistical analysis of successive images. We collected a set of test images from the traffic monitoring system and experimented. The experimental results show more than 96% of tracking accuracy.

  • A developed skill of an intelligent CCTV is also advancing by using its Image Acquisition Device. The most important part in the field of detecting comparatively fast moving objects is to effectively reduce the loads on updating the background image in order to achieve real-time update. However, the ability of the current general-purpose computer extracting the texture as characteristics has limits in application mostly due to the loads on processes. In this thesis, an algorithm for real-time updating the background image in an applied area such as detecting the fast moving objects like a driving car in a video of at least 30 frames per second is suggested and the performance is analyzed by a test of extracting object region from real input image.

  • This paper proposed a human body posture recognition program based on haar-like feature and hand activity detection. Its distinguishing features are the combination of face detection and motion detection. Firstly, the program uses the haar-like feature face detection to receive the location of human face. The haar-like feature is provided with the advantages of speed. It means the less amount of calculation the haar-like feature can exclude a large number of interference, and it can discriminate human face more accurately, and achieve the face position. Then the program uses the frame subtraction to achieve the position of human body motion. This method is provided with good performance of the motion detection. Afterwards, the program recognises the human body motion by calculating the relationship of the face position with the position of human body motion contour. By the test, we know that the recognition rate of this algorithm is more than 92%. The results show that, this algorithm can achieve the result quickly, and guarantee the exactitude of the result.

  • In the video with a various environment, background modeling is important for extraction and recognition the moving object. For this object recognition, many methods of the background modeling are proposed in a process of preprocess. Among these there is a Kumar method which represents the Queue-based background modeling. Because this has a fixed period of updating examination of the frame, there is a limit for various system. This paper use a background modeling based on the queue. We propose the method that major parameters are decided as adaptive by background model. They are the queue size of the sliding window, the sire of grouping by the brightness of the visual and the period of updating examination of the frame. In order to determine the factors, in every process, RCO (Ratio of Correct Object), REO (Ratio of Error Object) and UR (Update Ratio) are considered to be the standard of evaluation. The proposed method can improve the existing techniques of the background modeling which is unfit for the real-time processing and recognize the object more efficient.

  • It is very difficult that a previous surveillance system and vehicle detection system find objects on a limited and unstable illumination condition. This paper proposes a robust method of adaptively updating a reference background image for solving problems that are generated by the unstable illumination. The first input image is set up as the reference background image, and is divided into three block categories according to an edge component. Then a block state analysis, which uses a rate of change of the brightness, a stability, a color information, and an edge component on each block, is applied to the input image. On the reference background image, neighbourhood blocks having the same state of a updated block are merged as a block. The proposed method can generate a robust reference background image because it distinguishes a moving object area from an unstable illumination. The proposed method very efficiently updates the reference background image from the point of view of the management and the processing time. In order to demonstrate the superiority of the proposed stable manner in situation that an illumination quickly changes.

  • As the world is trying to establish smart city, unmanned vehicle control systems are being widely used. This paper writes about an unmanned parking control system that uses an adaptive background image modeling method, suggesting the method of updating the background image, modeled with an adaptive Gaussian mixture model, in both global and local way according to the moving object. Specifically, this paper focuses on suggesting two methods; a method of minimizing the influence of a moving object on a background image and a method of accurately updating the background image by quickly removing afterimages of moving objects within the area of interest to be monitored. In this paper, through the implementation of the unmanned vehicle control system, we proved that the proposed system can quickly and accurately distinguish both moving and static objects such as vehicles from the background image.

  • A moving object detection algorithm for surveillance video is here proposed which employs background initialization based on two-stage median filtering and a background updating method based on state transition diagram. In the background initialization, the spatiotemporal similarity is measured in the subinterval. From the accumulated difference between the base frame and the other frames in a subinterval, the regions affected by moving objects are located. The median is applied over the subsequence in the subinterval in which regions share similarity. The outputs from each subinterval are filtered by a two-stage median filter. The background of every frame is updated by the suggested state transition diagram The object is detected by the difference between the current frame and the updated background. The proposed method showed good results even for busy, crowded sequences which included moving objects from the first frame.

  • Security system with web camera remarkably has been developed at an Internet era. Using transmitted images from remote camera, the system can recognize current situation and take a proper action through web. Existing motion detection methods use simply difference image, background image techniques or block matching algorithm which establish initial block by set search area and find similar block. But these methods are difficult to detect exact motion because of useless noise. In this paper, the proposed method is updating changed background image as much as $N{\times}M$pixel mask as time goes on after get a difference between imput image and first background image. And checking image pixel can efficiently detect motion by computing fixed distance pixel instead of operate all pixel.
