Proton Beam Sensitivity of Basidiospore and Mycelium in Pleurotus ostreatus (느타리버섯 포자와 균사체의 양성자 빔 조사에 대한 민감도)

  • To assess the effects of proton beam on radiation sensitivity of the basidiospore and mycelium of oyster mushroom (Pleurotus ostreatus), the $D_{10}$ values and $L_{50}$ (lethal 50%) values were analysed. By the proton beam radiation, the survival rate and germination rates increased at the dose of $10\;Gy{\sim}100\;Gy$ and then decreased significantly over 500 Gy. $L_{50}$ values of basidiospore and mycelium of Pleurotus ostreatus were over 500 Gy and 400 Gy, respectively. $D_{10}$ values were calculated from linear regression formulae ($D_{10}\;=\;-1/slope(b)$, y = a + bx) as 750 Gy and 1,250 Gy, respectively. Based on our experiment, the optimum dose of proton beam as a mutation source would be between from 500 Gy to 750 Gy for basidiospores and from 400 Gy to 1000 Gy for mycelium of oyster mushroom.

Optimization for The Alcoholic Fermentation of Concentrated Grape Juice Using Response Surface Methodology (반응표면분석을 이용한 농축 포도즙의 알코올발효 조건 최적화)

  • Response surface methodology (RSM) was applied to optimize alcohol fermentation of concentrated grape juice. Sugar concentration ($X_1$), agitation rate ($X_2$) and fermentation time ($X_3$) were chosen as the independent variables of the central composite design (CCD). Dependent variables were alcohol content ($Y_1$) and total acidity ($Y_2$). To optimize two dependent variables, desirability function was defined as $Y_1$=10.0% and $Y_2$=minimum. The optimum conditions for alcohol fermentation were $19.98^{\circ}Bx$ (sugar concentration), 104.1 rpm (agitation rate) and 89.67 hr (fermentation time). The predicted responses were 10.0% in alcohol content and 0.86% in total acidity. The coefficients of determination ($R^2$) were 0.948 and 0.958, which indicate that the model fit was highly significant (p<0.001). The experimental values were 10.1% for alcohol content and 0.88% for total acidity. These values were similar to the predicted values from RSM.

Application of Electronic Nose for Aroma Analysis of Persimmon Vinegar Concentrates (감식초 농축액들의 향기성분 분석에 대한 전자코의 적용)

  • This study was performed to test application possibility of electronic nose with 32 conducting polymer sensor arrays for aroma analysis of persimmon vinegar. The 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, and $70^{\circ}Bx$ persimmon vinegar concentrates were prepared by vacuum concentration at $55^{\circ}C$. The recovery yield of water soluble solid to concentrates was 55.5% on $20^{\circ}Bx$ persimmon vinegar concentrate. As the concentration of persimmon vinegar concentrates increased, pH of concentrates increased and acidity as acetic acid decreased. From sensory evaluation for persimmon vinegar concentrates, as the concentration of persimmon vinegar concentrates increased, their cooking odor and umami taste increased, sour taste and acidic odor decreased, salty odor and astringency were not changed. Aroma analysis by electronic nose (AromaScan) showed no difference in normalized pattern and odor intensity among persimmon vinegar concentrates. All quality factors among concentrates also were less than 1.042. And so the electronic nose with conducting polymer sensor was not suitable for aroma analysis of persimmon vinegar concentrate.

Effect of Red or Blue Resin Added to Greenhouse Covering Films on Growth of Tomato and Pepper (적색 및 청색 수지 첨가 피복재가 토마토와 고추의 생육에 미치는 영향)

  • Spectral irradiance of greenhouse covering films that three resins (red, blue, red plus blue) were added to get higher utilization efficiency of sunlight were compared to the normal film in this study. Growth and yield of tomato and pepper grown under the films were also investigated. Transmittance of PAR (photosynthetically active radiation, 400~700 nm) and sunlight (300~1,100 nm) of red or blue resin-added films increased by 5 to 6% and 0.5 to 1.0%, respectively. As compared to the normal film, fruit yield and soluble solid content of tomato and pepper grown under red plus blue resin-added film increased by 15 to 20% and by $0.5^{\circ}Bx$.

  • In this study magnetic fields near electric power lines with branch lines which have a arbitrary angle were derived and formulated by dipole antenna theory and could be calculated easily using the formula. It seems that those formula could be applicable to the consideration of magnetic fields during the design of distribution lines with branch lines. As an example those formulated equations on elements of magnetic fields were applied to a model of 3 phase distribution lines with branch lines and calculated by Matlab programs and the results were presented The analyzed results are follows. The resultant magnetic field is dominated by the componant By all over y-axis in the case of the smaller branched angle $\alpha$ and the lower observed point z. In case of ${\alpha}=\frac{\pi}{2}$[rad], the resultant field is affected by the componant Bx. The resultant field is dominated by the componant Bz at the vicinity of the power lines and it shows very large value at the branch line position of y-axis in case of ${\alpha}>\frac{\pi}{2}$.

Design of a Delayed Dual-Core Lock-Step Processor with Automatic Recovery in Soft Errors (소프트 에러 발생 시 자동 복구하는 이중 코어 지연 락스텝 프로세서의 설계)

  • In this paper, we designed a Delayed Dual Core Lock-Step (D-DCLS) processor where two cores operate same instructions with delay and the result is compared to mitigate soft errors and common mode failures in automotive electronic systems. Because D-DCLS does not know which core an error occurred in, each core must be recovered to the point before the error occurred, but complex hardware modifications are required to return all intermediate values on the pipeline stage. In this paper, in order for easy hardware implementation, all register values are saved to a buffer whenever a branch instruction is executed. When an error is detected, the saved register values are automatically restored, and then 'BX LR' instruction is executed to return to the last branch point. The proposed D-DCLS processor was designed using Verilog HDL and was confirmed to continue normal operation after automatically recovering error.

Studies on the Processing Quality of Korean Citrus Fruits (한국산 감귤류의 가공특성에 관한 연구)

  • Experiments were carried out for finding out a reasonable background of inferior processing quality of Korean citrus fruits of unshiu varieties. The results obtained were as follows. 1. It is considered that the essence of fruit tastes were sweetness and acidity. Their contents were $9.0-10.0^{\circ}Bx$ and 5.3-6.6% (as citric acid) respectively. These indicates that Korean native citrus fruits were inferior in quality. 2. The hesperidin contents were 58mg% in early ripe unshiu varieties, but were low comparatively as 45mg% in late varieties. 3. The portions of fruit peel were high as 25% in Im and Sukcheon unshiu. Therefore these varieties are favorable for long-time storage. The juice extraction rate were 50% on the average with not much difference between varieties. 4. Specific gravity of the extracted juice were 1.040. Vit. C and hesperidin contents of the juice were $25{\sim}30mg%$ on the average in all varieties.

Effects of Foliar Spray of Calcium Salts and Ethephon on the Fruit Quality of Satsuma Mandarin (Citrus unshiu Marc. Miyagawa wase) in the Plastic Greenhouse (Ethephon과 Ca제제 혼용 엽면살포에 의한 플라스틱하우스에서 재배된 온주밀감의 품질향상 효과)

  • This experiment was carried out to examine the effects of foliar applications of 100 mg.L$^{-1}$ ethephon mixed with different calcium formulae (10,000 mg.L$^{-1}$ Clef-non, 2,000 mg.L$^{-1}$ Cell-bine, 2,000 mg.L$^{-1}$ Hicalux, and 2,000 mg.L$^{-1}$ calcium acetate monohydrate) on the rind coloration, defoliation and fruit quality of satsuma mandarin cultivated in the plastic greenhouse. Foliar applications of ethephon alone or in mixture with either Clef-non, Cell-bine, Hicalux or calcium acetate monohydrate demonstrated that increased 'a'value of peel chromaticity as compared to the control. The treatments encouraged fruit colour and allowed the harvest date to be predicted. The defoliation ratio decreased considerably by foliar applications of ethephon mixed with Cell-bine or Hicalux. The sugar content of fruit increased by 1.6, 1.54, and 1.54$^{\circ}$Bx with the foliar applications of ethephon, ethephon+Clef-non, and ethephon+Cell-bine, respectively. With the foliar applications of ethephon in mixture with Cell-bine, fruit coloration was accelerated. defoliation was delayed, and fruit quality was improved.

Setting the Hallabong Tangor's Quality Standards based on Consumer Preference Survey (한라봉의 소비자 선호도 조사를 통한 객관적 품질등급 기준 설정)

  • The purpose of this study is to set the Hallabong tangor's quality standards based on consumer preference survey. Until now the Hallabong tangor's quality standards has been based on the fruit size. Hallabong tangor's quality in agricultural cooperative, citrus agricultural cooperative, and some agricultural corporation has been selected in accordance with its own brand of quality grade using a non-destruction sorting machine. But, setting the Hallabong tangor's quality standards has been based on the convenient and routine method rather than the scientific and objective method, consumer's preference. According to the grade contents, more than sugar $13^{\circ}Bx$ and less than acid 1.10% has been used uniformly. Thus, in this study, based on the consumers' preference of Hallabong tangor, 5-level grades of sugar and 7-level grades of acidity were divided into the total 35-level grades. Based on this, 5-level grades were set and were divided into selling product grades(1~3) and non-selling product grades(4~5).

  • Intermediate parent "Wonkyo Ga-Dangwagi 1" (Malus domestica Borkh.) was released from Fruit Research Division, National Institute of Horticultural & Herbal Science, Korea in 2008. It was derived from the cross between "Starkrimson" and columnar type "McIntosh Wijcik" in 1992 after selection tests from 2000 to 2008. Trees are moderately vigorous and have spreading branching habit. It bears abundant flower buds on one-year-old branches and fruits mainly on spurs or short branches. Harvesting time of this variety is late September, 7 days later than that of "Hongro" in Suwon. The fruit is conical to narrow conical in shape and bright red in skin color. Fruit size is small with weight of 200~240g on an average and fruits have $14^{\circ}Bx$ soluble solid and medium acidity. It is moderately susceptible to alternaria leaf spot (Alternaria alternata). "Wonkyo Ga-Dangwagi 1" is a promising apple cultivar and will appeal to young people with good sugar-acid balance.
